Yes there are no holes in the truss, but if you put holes in it, the truss will be weekend, thats what clamps are for!! Plastic clamps havent broken for me, you don't need to tighten them really, there are metal pins to hold it up, the clamps are just extra. Versatile, the truss can be taken apart in 2 pieces so if you want a 4 foot truss you can, or if you want an 8 foot you can, or if you dont want any truss just the stand beams with holes you can. You can mix and match to your needs very well.

I'm on my second "package" now. My first one... in the process of setup and teardown so many times, the extending pole on one of the stands got bent. It became extremely hard to put up and take down. I also broke two of the plastic clamps that hold the truss to the stands. Two guys were taking it down for me, and one of them went just a little bit faster than the other. Shattered it to pieces. Got a whole new set. I use 6 Chauvet Pro Clamp with 360 Degree Wrap with foam tape in them and I LEAVE THEM ON the truss. And just attach lights. I also leave the middle support bar on one side of the truss during take down. I also have bolted through the plastic clamps. So, the clamps that attach the truss to stands are on for good and probably won't break. Then we slip the whole assembled deal over the extending stand poles. If you do all of this, this works really well. If not, spend more money. :)

These stands were a smaller diameter tubing than the Odysee LS-30?, but after running these trusses side by side, the MF stands are far easier for setup and teardown. Has all the features, built sturdy, and go higher than the other brand. I did loose some pins right off the bat as they just fell apart with cloth instead of wire keepers. All in all they fit my style of quick setup as where I was frustrated and struggled with the other guys stands.
We used our stand for the first time tonight and it worked very well. The only issue we had was the plastic turns. As an earlier reviewer stated "do not tighten them too much" or they do crack. Other than that the stand was just right for our needs and was better and stronger than I expected. For the money this stand looks and performs very well.
Came in with 2 knobs broken. Came in with no holes in the truss at all. First time I raised the stands and turned the knobs to tighten, the cheap plastic clamps broke, on both stands. One of the clamps that holds the "T" bar to one of the stand broke into, with little movement. The clamps for the "T" Bar would never tighten enough to hold the lights level, light kept falling forward (shining on the floor) or backwards (shining on the ceiling).
I just got this and the first thing I noticed when I opened the box was it was completely busted. Obviously that isn't going to be the case everytime for everyone else, but for me all of the clamps and knobs that hold the truss and stand together were all shattered inside the box. Also one the tripod stands was broken at the base where the three legs come together (it's plastic too). The truss and all the bars seem strong, but all the clamps that connect them together are pretty crappy. I sent the whole thing back and they are sending me a replacement. (hopefully it comes undamaged this time) I still think it could be worth the money seeing how cheap it is. I just plan on replacing all of the clamps with something stronger.
I bought this expecting it to be the quality of another stand I have by another manufacturer, but this wasnt at all. The plastic fittings broke within a month and the tubing is really really thin. Just a cheap stand. You can put some par 32s on it, but not much more.
Received the first one and 6-8 clamps were broken in the box. Received the 2nd truss OK but plastic collars broke the 2nd time we set up. The tubing is very lightweight but fairly strong which is good but the clamps/collars are complete junk. You can not order replacement parts, you have to purchase the whole system again or hopefully get it replaced by MF.
I got this to hold up our banner and some lights. It does that very well. We use it every weekend. It is not made for heavy touring, but the price is right for a weekend warrior.
Pretty good item for $100. Bad packaging though. Ups Guy picked it then we put it all back in the box after it fell out. Only 1 broken peice..
Just took a brand new unit out of the box and all but 2 clamps were broken. Even several of the T-Nut heads were broken. Missing safety pins. No parts bag. That being said, IF the parts were all in one piece, it should be a good bang for the buck. They just need to get it right up front by making sure they package the unit better and raise the quality a bit on the nylon clamps.
No broken clamps, easy to put together.... did come with intructions but it is so simple to put together.... didn't need them. The holes on the two "T" bars are close together but I am only using pin spots on them so this is fine. Only thing I didn't like is there are no mounting clamps for the truss included.
