This rack is very weak and will not hold any real weight. I use it to hold my less used equipment, and try not to move it around much. I recommend spending the extra money and getting something stronger.
It works doesn't it? it holds all your rack equipment and the rails are sturdy. another cross bar couldn't hurt but its good anyway.
The rack is fairly well designed, and is rated to hold 70 lbs. It is a bit of a pain to build, but even though I received no instuctions, it was fairly simple. just making sure that it was straight was a bit of a pain, as well as mounting heavier gear. In the end, it just works. It's holding my Digidesign Digi002rack, an MDX1600, a DEQ2496, and a Furman RP-8L with no problems.
It's a great stand!!! If you're having difficulty getting it lined up, just attach a unit to the top and bottom of the rack with the screws loose. When you have it straight, then apply the death grip on those screws. It also helps to tilt back the stand at an angle so that the front of the stand is parallel to the table or ground while you insert your gear. I've got 2 power amps attached with other stuff and the rack is holding strong! I'm gonna buy more of these!
This thing is great for the price. Yes the gear will collect dust since it's not inside a rack case, but you can just throw a towel or sheet over it when not playing.
I was looking for an inexpensive way to rack my compressors and effects for the PA in my rehearsal/recording studio. I didn't want the expense of a case type rack because this was a temporary installation. I was going to make one but when I saw this rack it was a no brainer to purchase it. It looks nice in the studio and I still have more space. This rack is only for light gear in my opinion. I wouldn't use this for, say, Adats or power amps. I'm real happy with this rack. Great bang for the buck. I'd recommend this with no problem.
I bought it for my MS2000R and it does what it says it does.it can't be beat for this price.
