I thought I'd save a few bucks on buying a heavy-duty boom stand and decided to get this one instead. Like one of the other reviewers said; the boom will start to slip. Tightening it harder will stop the slipping but it might end up stripping the screw threads. I have also had problems with the boom stand tipping over. That is probably because the stand is lightweight. If you have a good microphone, you'll probably want to consider a more heavy boom stand that won't tip with a 2 pound mic + cord on its boom.

good stand, useless boom

the problem i found with the stand was the adjustment that raises up and down. the adjustment locks up tight and you can't get it loose..
Had to return stand because tridpod would not unfold completely causing it to not stand straight. Poor quality. Next time will pay more and get good name-brand quality.
This is an OK mic stand, but I'm pretty sure it's the same one that Musician's Friend has packaged with a Nady SP-1 microphone and a cable for the exact same total price as the stand here alone. The mic is actually pretty nice -- go for the package!
this stand becomes useless after you adjust a few times because the screws get stripped easily and can no longer hold the boom together. A waste of money!
Not real well balanced with boom extended. Could use more counter weighting. Overall not bad for the $$$
This is a very nice stand. I have 3 or 4 now. All still work. These seem to be the only stands I can find that'll hold up a large condenser. You just have to twist it tight. It doesn't strip. I'm going to buy 2 more. Though I'd go for the package, because it's the same stand. Mic is very nice. Stood up to an SM58. kinda.
It's foldability forces too many moving parts that all want to move when on stage. Nice for portability, but you want somthing more substantial for gigs. Nice for home use.
it's already getting "loose"
This stand suffers from endless droop! The locking mechanism DOES NOT KEEP THE MIKE UP-IT ALWAYS SAGS!
Doesn't hold position of boom well
