I've been looking for a stand for my G-1275 Doubleneck and this one does it. The adjustable base and support rack are perfect for wider-body guitars. It also doesn't lay (recline) the instrument too far back - so you can get it rather close to walls, etc. Although it doesn't have a neck holder, it's really not needed. I've ordered the case, but until it arrives, this is where I will park it. And you can't beat the price.

This stand is similar to 2 other A-Frame stands that I have except that the pad at the top of the A-frame on this is a medium soft molded piece of plastic ( as are the foot pads) instead of foam. Unlike these stands, right out of the box this had an overpowering solvent smell to it to the point where my wife told me to get it out of the house. So I put it in the garage for several weeks and even left it out in the sun a couple of days hoping that the solvent would outgas but so far the smell is still there. My point being, I have always been leery of anything but cloth contacting my guitars finish and I put cloth on all the support surfaces of my other 2 racks which don't have this issue. There is no way I am letting anything that reeks this strongly of solvent anywhere near my guitars. I have no idea what type of plastic they are using in these but I definitely would not recommend that you set instruments on these without some type of buffer between the instrument and the stand.

The metal construction is good, the plastic parts smell very bad

By Mark Crandall

from NC

Comments about Musician's Gear A-Frame Acoustic Guitar Stand:

While the stand construction is certainly good enough, the smell given off by the feet and the pad on the top is beyond ridiculous. This product should be considered defective and discontinued by MF. I use an older ProLine version of this stand that never had this issue with a volatlie smell from the plastic parts. I tried soaking the parts in baking soda solution, vinegar solution for days, but nothing works on this smell. I think the only other thing that would work is to bake them at about 120 C for an extended period, but I won't be doing that in my house.
The soft plastic pads and feet have a volatile odor that simply will not go away... it's been weeks now!
The metal construction is decent, but the quality of the pads kills this rating.
The price was great, but now I have to make my own pads for it.

Ruined the finish on my guitars

By Dave-O2LQl

from Douglasville, GA

Comments about Musician's Gear A-Frame Acoustic Guitar Stand:

My wife bought this stand for me last year. She did not see the small print warning that said it was not for use with nitrocellulose-finish guitars. After a couple of weeks I noticed it marked the back of my Seagull. The Seagull has a "custom polished high gloss" finish. I can not find out if it is nitrocellulose. I covered the head of the stand with a cloth and used it for my matt finished Martin. It marked it as well right through the cloth. Do not buy this stand. It will ruin your guitar.

Beware

Comments about Musician's Gear A-Frame Acoustic Guitar Stand:

This review is for the MF A Frame acoustic guitar stand and the FretRest by Proline acoustic guitar stand (SKU580389000001000) I bought several of these five or six years ago and used the with no problem until recently. I bought a new Martin. I put it on one of these stands and the next day I had a1-2 inch stripe on the back of the guitar with no finish. In the catalog it is plainly stated "not for use on nitrocellulose finishes". Well after five years, I forgot. My advice......don't buy either of these unless you know that you are never going to have a nitrocellulose finished guitar or you have a really good memory. My advice to MF......stop selling these.

A-Frame Acoustic Guitar Stand

Comments about Musician's Gear A-Frame Acoustic Guitar Stand:

There are so many guitar stands on the market, it's tough to tell which will work best, until you get one home and lay your guitar in it. But, this is the most stable, protective stand I've purchased an I'm sure this one will be with me a long time.
The protective cushioning on this stand, is terrific. The A-Frame is very sturdy and the black powder-coat finish will likely last a lifetime. And, it will accommodate a wide-range of instrument depths.
This stand showed-up to reveal a very high-quality product, that accommodates all the depths of acoustic guitars I have. It's sturdy, made well and protects my guitars at all contact points.
I expect to purchase a couple additional for my other acoustics. Thanks MF, for a very high-quality stand at a reasonable price.

Smells bad!

By Noah Berger

from Undisclosed

Comments about Musician's Gear A-Frame Acoustic Guitar Stand:

Bad smell overwhelms what would otherwise be a great value. The rubberized material on the arms has a strong chemical smell. Looks ok, otherwise. I will return or discard the stand.

Comments about Musician's Gear A-Frame Acoustic Guitar Stand:

I read the reviews about this stand damaging certain finishes but did not know what kind of finish my guitar has. Now I know. The rubber protectors on the stand started to damage the finish on the back of my guitar. Fortunately I saw it early and suffered minimal damage. I have now placed a thick towel between my guitar and the stand. Hopefully this will work because otherwise the stand is strong and stable.

A well priced functional stand for holding guitars during open mics. Very similar to the one a frame stand I have but at less than a third of the price and free shipping too. A great value as I wasn't looking to buy any of these but couldn't pass them up so I bought 2

Sure, the price is great, but I will not run the risk of it damaging any of my instrumennts.

I am Surprised Musician's Friend even sells something like this, it is way beneath them.

The rubber cap on this thing reacted with the nitro cellulose laquer finish on my Gibson Les Paul. Now I have a gooey mess that will need to be buffed out.
