I'm normally pretty picky about my strings. I've played many types and gauges over the years and I know what I like. For the price of these I figured they were worth a shot, just to see what the fuss was all about. Musicians Gear strings come in a glossy box with a single clear plastic package inside holding all of the strings. Four wound, two unwound strings in great color and shape. While they don't sound like an expensive string, they do sound bright and balanced. In my experience, all of the Musicians Gear strings last about a month of solid playing and then the tone deteriorates fairly quickly. It's a sharp decline. You'll know when they're dead because you won't enjoy playing on them anymore. But for a few dollars it's really not an issue. If you enjoy them, just buy another pack every month. A solid value. Not the best strings, but in my opinion better than GHS and Ernie Ball.

I have bought many many sets of these. I build guitars. I have been glad to have them, but lately, its like they have all gone bad. They not only sound bad but the 3rd string breaks instantly when tensioning and detensioning strings, and I have run into such intonation/tuning stability problems that it had me running in circles. On one guitar in particular it was tough, and I put on a set of Martin Marquis, and the guitar behaved perfectly. SO, they work for me to check nut height and action for set up, but cant deliver a guitar with the batch I have anymore, and cant play guitar in tune w them. I never entirely believed it before, but can now attest that strings can intone wrong from uneven stretching. Sorry, love musicians friend and use their cases on 2 of my models, love to buy stuff here, but these strings have gone bad on the shelf of my workshop and are unuseable.

Comments about Musician's Gear Acoustic 12 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Affordable strings are wonderful. At the rate I go through a set these fit the bill. I put some top shelf 80/20's on my dreadnaught and they last about 3 weeks max, usually two.

        It's the same with electrics.

No matter how much or how "great" a certain string is, I get 2 and maybe 3 weeks out of them if that particular guitar is in heavy rotation. And by the 3rd week they're usually over ripe.

With acoustics the degradation in playability/sound is very obvious, electric strings can be disguised a bit with effects etc... but acoustic strings are bare naked and tell no lies. If they are going bad... it is readily apparant.

Do these work for me? Yes. Are they the "greatest" strings ever? No hype... they do the job and are on par with everything else out there.

I just want to give a Thank's to MF. for sending me the strings. I'm an learner, an bought a less espensive acoustic guitar. When I receive'd it was back in the cold winter, but the string's were corrodid. I ask MF. if they would send me a replacement for them. I had ordered some other small supplie's pic's and tuner. I rec'd those, and the next week I had a email saying my strings had been sent. Restored faith in Musician'Friend. Thank's Again. Tommy Smith.

I get these all the time. I normally buy 10 at a time. The price is right and when you have 10 guitars it gets pretty pricey. They last about a month if you are consistently playing on them. They break and dull like all other strings that are 3X the price. I have used the Bass, acoustic and electric MG strings and recommend all 3 of them. In my mind, after 27 years of playing, strings are strings. If you can save some money, do it.

Comments about Musician's Gear Acoustic 12 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I originally hesitated buying these strings after reading the critical review claiming they sound bad, don't stay in tune, and break easily. That has definitely not been my experience so far. Admittedly mine is still a relatively short-term assessment, and so I cannot yet attest to their durability and long-term stability, but after changing out the old strings that came on my guitar (a just-purchased AJ-220SCE) I can say there is a very obvious improvement in the acoustic volume and sound, comparable to putting on a fresh set of D'Addarios. I have not experienced any problems with breakage, intonation or tuning. Also, they present a nice soft feel to the fingers which makes forming chords and solo notes quite easy. For the price these strings are a steal, and I rate and recommend them highly.

Although my primary instrument is electric, this product is great for rehearsing material during the week and for the times I, or another musician needs a good acoustic sound.
