Affordable strings are wonderful. At the rate I go through a set these fit the bill. I put some top shelf 80/20's on my dreadnaught and they last about 3 weeks max, usually two.

It's the same with electrics.

No matter how much or how "great" a certain string is, I get 2 and maybe 3 weeks out of them if that particular guitar is in heavy rotation. And by the 3rd week they're usually over ripe.

With acoustics the degradation in playability/sound is very obvious, electric strings can be disguised a bit with effects etc... but acoustic strings are bare naked and tell no lies. If they are going bad... it is readily apparant.

Do these work for me? Yes. Are they the "greatest" strings ever? No hype... they do the job and are on par with everything else out there.

I tried a new set of these out on an Alvarez AD60 acoustic/electric with a TUSQ saddle and what are likely a regular plastic nut and bridge pins. To give you an idea of the sounds I am used to, I generally use Elixir lights and use both phosphor bronze and 80/20 bronze versions and in nanoweb and polyweb versions. For uncoated strings I use D'Addario EJ16 light phosphor bronze strings.

PROS

For being inexpensive, the strings are packaged well. The outer box is not sealed, but each individual string is sealed in clear plastic with the string name and number printed in large lettering. The ends are all brass, but with the individual packaging, it eliminates the need for color coding. This is a great feature for beginners, those that don't string often, or even those without good vision - no having to refer back to a tiny print color coding chart, which can be different for different brands of strings.

Also, the box had a hanger tab, which is really handy for me to hang on a long peg on my workbench pegboard until the strings are needed.

CONS

The sound on these strings is EXTREMELY bright and it makes the guitar, who's sound I always get compliments on, sound like a bottom of the line laminate top guitar in my opinion.

The thinner strings seem to kink more easily than other brands I have installed, I suppose they could have been like that in the package, but if so I did not notice.

Compared to other non-coated strings, my fingers, which are calloused but smooth, really "stick" to the strings and there is a lot of string noise.

Immediately after stringing and tuning, my clean fingertips had gray and black lines on them after playing these strings for about 10 minutes. I was surprised by this as usually it only happens when playing on old or dirty strings.

I can't recommend these for sound quality, but at the price I am not disappointed I tried them out.

Comments about Musician's Gear Acoustic 12 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I used these to replace a set of 1-yr old D'addarios and I wish I had kept the D'addarios. Not that these are bad, they aren't. But come on guys . . . these strings are slightly thinner gauge than my D's and yet they feel so much thicker and take more effort to fret.

I have three acoustic guitars; Seagull, Rogue, and a cheap Chinese acoustic/electric. I use MF strings on all three. They sound good to me and you can't beat the price. I prefer the feel of uncoated strings.

Comments about Musician's Gear Acoustic 12 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I bought these strings because of their price. Put them on a dreadnought size acoustic and the pros of them are:

            -Inexpensive
            -Resonates loudly

            Cons.
            - Feels like your fingers are pressing down on wire

I realize why these strings are inexpensive. They shred your fingers and are incapable of being played for a sustained length of time due to the sheer feel and material of the string.

I play my guitars daily so my fingers are used to playing, and these strings make me not want to play chords with my guitar. They are also stiff, really making you press down on your stings which adds to the not so fun to play string feeling.

If you're looking for inexpensive strings, I'd go elsewhere.

I play a lot, everyday. I have found no other strings, at any price, that will outperform or outlast these. Some coated strings (@4x the cost) have a better feel, for a short while; some others will get attention for their assorted colors, but they will not last the gig, in my experience.

Tho I have switched to Dunlop for all my electrics, I still grab these by the box full. When they are a buck & a half I can grab 30 or 40 sets and be set for half a year of practicing AND recording with fresh strings.

I have NEVER had major string breakage in almost a decade of use. I found these when MF first brought them out and have been a user of the 12's since.

All I can say is spend the cash for 2 or 3 sets and let YOUR ears decided, not mine or any one else's reviews. The price is such that you can do this without too much hurt on the wallet if you do not like them.
