Affordable strings are wonderful. At the rate I go through a set these fit the bill. I put some top shelf 80/20's on my dreadnaught and they last about 3 weeks max, usually two.

It's the same with electrics.

No matter how much or how "great" a certain string is, I get 2 and maybe 3 weeks out of them if that particular guitar is in heavy rotation. And by the 3rd week they're usually over ripe.

With acoustics the degradation in playability/sound is very obvious, electric strings can be disguised a bit with effects etc... but acoustic strings are bare naked and tell no lies. If they are going bad... it is readily apparant.

Do these work for me? Yes. Are they the "greatest" strings ever? No hype... they do the job and are on par with everything else out there.

I tried a new set of these out on an Alvarez AD60 acoustic/electric with a TUSQ saddle and what are likely a regular plastic nut and bridge pins. To give you an idea of the sounds I am used to, I generally use Elixir lights and use both phosphor bronze and 80/20 bronze versions and in nanoweb and polyweb versions. For uncoated strings I use D'Addario EJ16 light phosphor bronze strings.

PROS

For being inexpensive, the strings are packaged well. The outer box is not sealed, but each individual string is sealed in clear plastic with the string name and number printed in large lettering. The ends are all brass, but with the individual packaging, it eliminates the need for color coding. This is a great feature for beginners, those that don't string often, or even those without good vision - no having to refer back to a tiny print color coding chart, which can be different for different brands of strings.

Also, the box had a hanger tab, which is really handy for me to hang on a long peg on my workbench pegboard until the strings are needed.

CONS

The sound on these strings is EXTREMELY bright and it makes the guitar, who's sound I always get compliments on, sound like a bottom of the line laminate top guitar in my opinion.

The thinner strings seem to kink more easily than other brands I have installed, I suppose they could have been like that in the package, but if so I did not notice.

Compared to other non-coated strings, my fingers, which are calloused but smooth, really "stick" to the strings and there is a lot of string noise.

Immediately after stringing and tuning, my clean fingertips had gray and black lines on them after playing these strings for about 10 minutes. I was surprised by this as usually it only happens when playing on old or dirty strings.

I can't recommend these for sound quality, but at the price I am not disappointed I tried them out.

Not the best musical sound, but I keep going back for the value. To my ear they sound better a week or 2 after I install them. Durable, not much breakage and consistent quality.

Worth it if you like to change strings biweekly

Comments about Musician's Gear Acoustic 12 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings:

Let me start by saying, these strings aren't going to last very long. A couple of weeks tops, regardless of how frequent you play. They sound and feel okay for that couple of weeks, but they quickly lose any sort of brilliance they may have had in the beginning. They are very cheaply priced though. I can't feel too disappointed when they're that cheap a set. Would I buy them again? I can't say that I would. I wondered if they were any good....and I found out that they are more than adequate for a couple of weeks.

I've been using Ernie Ball strings for years . . . in a blind test comparing the two I cannot tell any difference in the two. I own 12 guitars so it dropped my string costs in half! Try them for yourself . . .they're made in USA too.

Comments about Musician's Gear Acoustic 12 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings:

I just started guitar (most recent attempt anyway) about 6 months ago, and these are the least expensive strings I've ever used - but they are good strings. They sound good to me, and the price is certainly right. Each string is in it's own plastic envelope, so they shouldn't rust in the bags. I've been playing a TON since I've started playing, so I go through strings quickly - they tarnish and start to feel weird after about a week, and after 2 weeks they're pretty much goners. I haven't gotten any coated strings yet, but I have been trying out different brands. So far these are the only ones I'm planning to buy more of when I run out. Not only are they cheap, I can't really tell a huge difference between these and name brand strings - of course, I don't have a top shelf guitar and I don't really have the skilled ear of a seasoned guitarist. I'm sure eventually I'll move on to other strings, but in the beginning - where I am now, these strings fit perfectly in my skill set and budget.

I think string prices are mostly hype. Charge a big price and buyer believes it is of a better quality.
In my experience, strings need changed regularly if not frequently. These strings will give me 150+ hours of practicing (about a month) where the expensive coated strings, which claim to "last up to three times longer" give me about one week before the coating is coming off in shreds. Of course I will put on new strings before any performance. I have not yet encountered the finger tip discoloration one reviewer has mentioned.
