I play lead guitar and sing in a 3 piece rock group so I stay busy all night long. I need my pedal close. I don't need to be tripping on one of the 3 legs of a tripod mic stand. Small stages are a nightmare; so, sometimes I need all the extra room I can get. Finally, sometimes I come out of a lead, change the channel on the pedal from lead to regular and as I go up to begin singing the next part of the song-I bounce my mic off my face tipping the stand and twice I had to catch it from falling. Being bottom heavy keeps it from falling all the way to the floor saving the mic, the stand, avoiding the loud PA pop when it hits the floor and it significantly lowers my blood pressure now that I don't have to concern myself with that scenario.

Usually I am far too busy to write reviews... but after purchasing two of these, I had to warn others...

spend more money... the base threading strips easily... and for some unknown reason, there is a part at the top of the stand that spins, dissallowing the boom or mic clip from locking in place...
It is true what they say... you get what you pay for and for the price, you get a mic stand that will work for only one or two gigs.

good luck to those who disregard this review!

Comments about Musician's Gear Die-Cast Mic Stand:

Tripod stands take up a lot of floor space. Round base stands are easier to maneuver around in the studio and on stage. But the base has to be heavy. These stands are perfect for my studio: stable, black, small footprint, inexpensive.

Comments about Musician's Gear Die-Cast Mic Stand:

But for the fact that the solid base is somewhat heavy, these stands are used to mount our Nady PM-200A & PM-100 near-field monitors with the mic adapters that are available They provide very stable support for these small monitors and we are most satisfied with them.

I bought this just to use as a Yamaha mixer stand so once I attached it I don't mess with it and it is useful for this application. I wouldn't recommend this for a mic stand it is heavy enough but the thread on top just spins 360 after you screw on the adapter it just keeps spinning around and around. Also don't use this with expensive mics just asking for trouble!

I have a home karaoke setup and needed mic stands.
I bought 2 of these. Easy to set up, stable and they do the trick. I would rate them A Plus for the value.

Comments about Musician's Gear Die-Cast Mic Stand:

I purchased this stand for two reasons: 1) - Because it's small footprint allows me to move the GoPro Hero3+ Black Edition/Music camera close to the band Front of House without blocking the surrounding floor area as much as a musician's tripod mic stand base would. 2)- Interestingly, the GoPro came not with a mount that fit a traditional photographer's tripod camera adapter, but that fit a traditional mic stand mic holder adapter like this mic stand has. Note that the die-cast base makes for a very stable mic stand.

Use it in gigs all the time. Bottom heavy so it doesn't tip easily. Better than a tri-pod since you don't trip on any legs. Decent quality for the price. Would recommend it.
