I play lead guitar and sing in a 3 piece rock group so I stay busy all night long. I need my pedal close. I don't need to be tripping on one of the 3 legs of a tripod mic stand. Small stages are a nightmare; so, sometimes I need all the extra room I can get. Finally, sometimes I come out of a lead, change the channel on the pedal from lead to regular and as I go up to begin singing the next part of the song-I bounce my mic off my face tipping the stand and twice I had to catch it from falling. Being bottom heavy keeps it from falling all the way to the floor saving the mic, the stand, avoiding the loud PA pop when it hits the floor and it significantly lowers my blood pressure now that I don't have to concern myself with that scenario.

Right when you think it's gonna stay up, it slides back down if you barely touch it. Heck, all you really have to do is look at it and there it goes again. It stays up for a couple hours if you mess with it long enough. Like anything else. But it does the job if you're only other choice is homemade craft. AKA, it's worth the money...when it works.

NOTE!!!!! This is ONLY a STAND (so the description doesn't lie. but you don't feel that way when you open the box.) without a boom or clip. So you better have one or the other or both of the above unless you want this as a decorative piece. Because otherwise this is as useful as a metal pole.

Needed a low cost and sturdy stand and this works. I would not recommend it for heavy use like a rock singer but perfect for stationary use.

Comments about Musician's Gear Die-Cast Mic Stand:

The twisting lock ring that adjusts the height of this stand takes a lot of turns to create enough friction and since it is made of plastic, it feels like it will break if you tighten it too much. I use it at home for very casual use but I don't think I would trust it on stage. The price is great!

Comments about Musician's Gear Die-Cast Mic Stand:

I sue this stand 2 or 4 times a week for gigs. It is a good solid stand and doesn't take up a lot of space in my car or on stage. It's also a lot more stable and sturdy than my trip pod unit was. The stand is well built and does what I wan it to do. The only issue I had and it is a really minor one, is that any of the traditional pole mounted convince items I have like a cup holder are too wide because the pipe is thinned than the traditional tripod units.
