I play lead guitar and sing in a 3 piece rock group so I stay busy all night long. I need my pedal close. I don't need to be tripping on one of the 3 legs of a tripod mic stand. Small stages are a nightmare; so, sometimes I need all the extra room I can get. Finally, sometimes I come out of a lead, change the channel on the pedal from lead to regular and as I go up to begin singing the next part of the song-I bounce my mic off my face tipping the stand and twice I had to catch it from falling. Being bottom heavy keeps it from falling all the way to the floor saving the mic, the stand, avoiding the loud PA pop when it hits the floor and it significantly lowers my blood pressure now that I don't have to concern myself with that scenario.

This is literally what is says: a die-cast music stand. That's it. Nothing more. You want clip for a mic? You have to order that separately. Do you need a boom? This is not what you need to order....this is not a boom mic stand. The base is heavy, so, while maybe not "difficult" to transport, certainly more of a hassle than a tripod stand. I have no use for this, but I got this at a good price, so much so that it's not worth sending back because the shipping cost I'd have to pay to ship it back may be more than I paid. Having said that, it's worthless to me, but I blame myself for not knowing what I was buying.

Can't beat the low price for a good mic stand. I use it for rehearsals but could be used live too.

The pressed in mic thread is loose and cannot be tightened. The mic wobbles. I would need to purchase an Atlas to get a mic thread that is cut into the top pipe.

Comments about Musician's Gear Die-Cast Mic Stand:

It was a pleasant surprise to find such a good mic stand at such a good price. One of my band members commented on the quality without knowing the price. This stand is remarkably stable without being unduly heavy or bulky, and it was easy to break down and reassemble when I needed to pack it in the car. I should say that I do not play a lot of gigs, so I have not put the durability to a serious stress test. That said, I expect this stand to meet all my demands without difficulty.

Comments about Musician's Gear Die-Cast Mic Stand:

I purchased it to replace a broken mic stand at my church. We use it during various church services. The only issue I find is that some of our microphones don't fit into it.

Comments about Musician's Gear Die-Cast Mic Stand:

Smaller footprint than tripod base style stands. The 3 places on the bottom where the rubber feet are attached are higher than the rest of the base, so if tilted onto an area without the feet, it can wobble. All else about the stand is as it should be.

Nicely weighted base with good thread length to maintain the shaft.

Comments about Musician's Gear Die-Cast Mic Stand:

I like to keep it screwed into the base- have found constantly taking these apart leads to short life because of threads being stripped. I use an SUV for my gigs- have found the best way to transport is to put the base toward the front of the rear area and let it drop down between the front seats and the front of the dropped down back seats- keeps it level and doesn't move around.

Comments about Musician's Gear Die-Cast Mic Stand:

This stand is top heavy with a 19 inch flexible boom on it. I have to add an additional weight to keep it from toppling over if bumped.
