Bought one of these when I started playing mandolin (Rogue RM-100). Didn't quite fit -- the body cavity was a tad deep. Put folded towel in the bottom, all fixed. Side-to-side, it fit the RM-100 well, with just enough room for the strap to tuck along the side.

Picked up a Loar LM-300, got another one of these cases. The body cavity of the case is about one inch too deep and one and a half too wide. Again, towel to the rescue.

I often travel for work, and didn't want to have a week or two down time between practice sessions when I first started, so I took it with me. Due to its length, I have always had to check it at the gate. It also fits just fine in one half of my full-size suitcase; clothes on one side, mando case and shoes on the other. 40,000 miles and never a problem, even when I had to check it in separately with rest of the luggage.

Not recomended for Gibson A4 mandolin.
Nice case if your mandolin fits.
My Gibson A4 is smaller than the inside fitting, and the neck is not long enough to clear the neck rest/internal storage compartment.
I had to take out the inside compartment to allow my headstock to clear the case when closed.
I would have returned it, but had to go on the road the next day, so I modified the case.
Good case for the money, if it fits your mandolin.
Good value if it fits your mandolin

I have 2 of these cases. Lightweight, decent protection, good backpack straps. I took my 1928 Gibson A style Mandolin to Ireland in it.

Comments about Musician's Gear Durafoam Shaped A-Style Mandolin Case:

I was very surprised at how stylish, sturdy, and protective this case is for my A-style Mandolin and my Mandolin fits perfectly within it. The storage pockets are terrific for storage of whatever extra things you need to carry. This is a well made case and I highly recommend purchasing one .... I'm so glad I did.

          Doesn't fit

Comments about Musician's Gear Durafoam Shaped A-Style Mandolin Case:

I'm sending this back because my mandolin would not fit. The center piece is too tall, and the lid wouldn't close. I have a vintage Washburn. Very disappointed. Looks nice on the outside.

          Super Little Case

          By

          from Tipton Iowa

Comments about Musician's Gear Durafoam Shaped A-Style Mandolin Case:

I think this is definitely a keeper and would recommend it to anyone needing such a case.
I really like the durafoam case. It's sturdy but if I bump anything with it the instrument is safe and it doesn't damage what it hits. It fits my instrument like a glove. Also like the pockets.
So far it's great. I haven't had it outside the house yet but I don't see any problem areas.
I'm very pleased with the value. The ones I looked at in stores were going to cost me $150! And they didn't appear any better than this one!

A Great Case for a Mandolin

          By

          from Long Island, NY

Comments about Musician's Gear Durafoam Shaped A-Style Mandolin Case:

Bought this case for my inexpensive RM-100-A and love it. It is highly protective, and I like the look and feel of it as opposed to the hard cases. It is light weight, good padding, and quality zipper, and even comes with backpack straps to carry in the field. Good handles, and I especially like the two out side zippered pockets for accessories. I have the RM-100-A and fits pretty well length wise, however, it is deeper than the mandolin, so there is a space between the bottom of the case and the bottom of the mandolin. Not a biggy. One person places a towel or cloth to take up the excess space, although I am fine with it. It is a nice case, so if you buy it, you WILL be happy with it.
Nice 2 Front Pockets for accessories.
Strong Nylon material, strong zipper, padded nicely on inside.
          Excellent buy for the money.

          Nice Case but Too Roomy?

Comments about Musician's Gear Durafoam Shaped A-Style Mandolin Case:

Before you buy, measure your mandolin and compare to the inside dimensions of the case. A Kentucky 505A style mandolin, (measures 10-inches across the body), fits inside with rather too much room -- a good 5/8-inch on either side. If the case is roughly handled, the instrument will likely bounce back-n-forth laterally.
Shoulder straps and outside pocket are plus, but outside pocket measures only 7-1/2 by 9 so is not large enough for music books. Inside compartment is small. Durable outer covering. Very lightweight. Thick padding, so a bit bulky.
Only time will tell, but appears to be very well built.
If your instrument fits, you'll think this case a very good value.
