This is a great gig bag, especially for its price. Having 2 of these bags, I can see the good and the bad. Resonators fit well but there is quite a bit of wiggle if it is used to house an open back banjo. I use cloth covered styrofoam wedges to make it snug for my Recording King OT25 Madison Old-Time Banjo. Still, it is not the same as having a good fit. It would be nice if 2 models were available: Resonator and Open Back.

The gig bag fits my Gretsch G9420 Broadkaster Supreme Banjo much better, but the case is wee bit to long for both banjos. Again, a foam wedge solves this problem and, hey, better a wee bit too long than a wee bit too short!

The zipper is a a bit tedious, as one has to travel about 90% around the case to get it to open. At the same time, hinges may hurt the structural integrity of the case, so even though it is cumbersome, it still may be the best solution in order to keep the gig bag structurally tough and in an attractive price range.

There is a spacious interior storage compartment as well as 2 zippered external compartments. It also comes with straps to covert it to backpack. Just take out the banjo, add a 2 piece fishing rod, a reel, and the rest of your lures & gear and you will be all set for the hike to your favorite fishing hole.

For an open back I would not suggest this banjo case. I put mine in it and it flopped around left to right and sat way too lowat the pot. I am sure for a resonator banjo it would be great. I am making some extra padding to keep using it as the lightness and protection is great.

    Sort of Stunned

    By TIM KAZIMER

Comments about Musician's Gear Durafoam Shaped Banjo Case:

I was very surprised with the quality of this case. Durable outer shell, well stitched seams, plush / protective liner. I would have paid double this price had I seen this item in a retail shop somewhere. I ordered 2 days ago. The case was well packed. Free shipping - no tax collected and on and on.It is on the large side for my open back but a 5 dollar neck pillow from Wal-mart fixed that issue. Perfect for a resonator banjo.

    Great Case!

    By FolkBanjoManInMichigan

Comments about Musician's Gear Durafoam Shaped Banjo Case:

I thought for the price I couldn't afford not to give it a try- I was very surprised when I unpacked the case. I had just looked at a similar case at a local store, for almost three times the cost of this case with the same features. Although the outside pocket could have been big enough to hold a book, I don't personally carry a book with me. It holds plenty of other things though, making it a tremendous value for anyone who plays resonator banjo. (an open-back will need supplemental padding.)

Comments about Musician's Gear Durafoam Shaped Banjo Case:

This is a nylon case made to fit a resonator type banjo. My banjo is an Epiphone MB-200 and this case is a perfect fit for it. It you have an open back banjo you will have to fill the areas with something to keep it from flopping around. It is not a hard sided case. It is a nylon sided case that will hold it's shape due to some kind of hard material (maybe cardboard?) and a good amount of foam padding that protects the banjo. Nice soft furry material is what touches the instrument. The case has one compartment inside large enough to store an extra set of strings, picks, tools, etc. The outside has another pouch storage area good to store slightly larger items such as cables and banjo strap (btw... I keep the my banjo strap on all the time and mine will fold neatly in the case with it still on). Nylon zippers and the handles seem sturdy enough for me. So this type of case is a good alternative to the typical hard sided case that costs more and it affords much better protection than a "bag" style case. I like it.

Comments about Musician's Gear Durafoam Shaped Banjo Case:

Great price on a great case. Probably better protection for my banjo than some hard-shells. It doesn't fit under my bed though, as the case is extra thick. This probably makes it less friendly for taking on airplanes too, but I haven't tried.
The zipper is kind of long. You have to unzip both zippers all the way to the backside to get the case to open, but I guess that's a minor point.

        outstanding case for resonator banjos!

        By SL4Khl8he

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Musician's Gear Durafoam Shaped Banjo Case:

I have a simple Maestro resonator banjo. It fits perfectly. The straps can nestle in the front pouch; picks and extra strings can sit in the inside compartment. Neck is held securely while the head is untouched. It will be too big for the banjo I plan to get, so, I'm debating whether I want to add padding for that or just go ahead and get a resonator on it, too! Absolutely worth the purchase!

Comments about Musician's Gear Durafoam Shaped Banjo Case:

An avid hardshell case fan I bought one to try it out. I travel alot and wanted something lightweight to run through the airports with. I liked this case so much I bought a second one and plan to buy a 3rd for my other banjo. I am considering replacing all 6 of my hardshell guitar cases with this style as well.
