I thought for the price I couldn't afford not to give it a try- I was very surprised when I unpacked the case. I had just looked at a similar case at a local store, for almost three times the cost of this case with the same features. Although the outside pocket could have been big enough to hold a book, I don't personally carry a book with me. It holds plenty of other things though, making it a tremendous value for anyone who plays resonator banjo. (an open-back will need supplemental padding.)

For an open back I would not suggest this banjo case. I put mine in it and it flopped around left to right and sat way too lowat the pot. I am sure for a resonator banjo it would be great. I am making some extra padding to keep using it as the lightness and protection is great.

The design is great and a good fit for my Gold Star. Offers good protection in the right places. The handles are large with no special grip so carrying for a lengthy distance is best using the shoulder straps.
I had a hard shell for many years and often found I had to put some music books and sheets inside the case. The large outer pockets on this case make a great alternative. The material seems like it will withstand a lot of external contact with car trunks and stage floors with no ill affects. The zipper also appears quite sturdy although I am usually carefull with this so I don't foresee any addtional stress on it during normal use.

I would prefer this case over a hardshell case because of the outside pocket, light weight and backpack style carrying straps. Since I hand carry my banjo everywhere, I am confident that it is well protected. I also like the foam rather than the hard shell for when I accidentally bump into something. No dents or scratches.
The outside pocket is quite handy but too small to fit a tab book or sheet music.
It has straps for a backpack type carrying option which is great if you are walking around with it.
The inside lining is plush. Very soft.
It is great for what it is. I wouldn't check it in as baggage at the airport with a high quality banjo inside but for everyday toting around, it holds up really well.
This is a really great value. Unless your banjo will be baggage on an airplane or bus, I would say this is all you need to protect your banjo.
