I have a new student who's bass guitar had horrible strings on it. You know, the rusted, pitted this guitar has been sitting in a closet a few years strings? He has limited funds, so I pointed him to Musician's Friend, and these strings. I put them on at his next lesson, and I was fairly impressed. They are packaged very nicely, went on well and came to tune easily. After playing his guitar with these on, I was impressed with them. They are very bright however, so if you are looking for that flat wound sound, these probably are not for you, but, for modern rock, pop, and country, and even electric blues, they are fine.
They are so bright sounding I had a thought... I would buy a set and try them on my acoustic electric bass instead of phosphore bronze. They sound great! I actually ordered four sets to get the free shipping, thinking I could always use them up on student's guitars. Instead I'll be putting them on my acoustic for my own use.
These are such a bargain for what they cost it is unbelieveable! Try a set...

Please do yourself a favor spend a little extra and buy a decent set of bass strings. The gauges on this set match exactly with Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky Bass strings. These strings are very cheap and poor quality and the pickups on your Bass will really reflect this. I found them to be a waste of money.. after replacing a Fender Jag Bass With the Ernie Ball string's what a difference in the sound quality. The Bass pickups wont respond well to these cheap strings... please you wont regret passing these up for better strings they will make a Huge difference in the sound quality and the way the pickups respond to the strings.

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric 4-String Nickel Plated Steel Bass Strings:
I busted the E and A strings on my Dean EABC, and used these to replace them. It took almost two weeks for them to get to me. USPS ships stuff quicker than that. They use this UPS Mail Innnovations service that uses USPS for the last mile, and I swear, they must put the MI shipments at the bottom of the barrel. Their customer service people were helpful, and the told me the maximum number of days to wait. It took exactly that long. I think they'd be better off shipping with USPS directly.

These are great strings. Just wipe them off after practicing or playing out and they will last as long as any other brand.

Bought these strings for a Squire / Fender bass we use at church. We have (4) different guys who alternate playing the bass and everyone is pleased with the new strings. Good tone, easy to play, and GREAT VALUE.

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric 4-String Nickel Plated Steel Bass Strings:
It's said that Paul McCartney, when asked what kind of bass strings he used, replied "long, shiny ones". These are certainly long and shiny and they get the job done. I use them to restring basses I've bought for resale and they look, feel, and sound fine. Other reviewers have said these strings have long life, and these cost about half of what comparable name brand strings do.

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric 4-String Nickel Plated Steel Bass Strings:
I use these as standard strings on Cigar Box Basses I build if the customer doesn't ask for something special. They're not really bad for the cost. Now if someone would make a set of cheap flatwounds. At this price every bass player needs a couple of sets for spares.

Comments about Musician's Gear Electric 4-String Nickel Plated Steel Bass Strings:
Work great on my modified Fender. I don't know why some are commenting on the "black finger" nickel ruboff problem-I've used the whole musicians gear line (6 string, 4 and 5 string bass) and never have had a problem. I wash my hands before playing, so that might help with the oils and acids transfer which could oxidize even the most expensive strings. I practice/play about 7 hours a week and these hold up well and you can't beat the price.

The only thing bad about these strings is that you have to wait so long to change them!
