This fiberglass case was just purchased from Musician's Friend. I haven't found anything similar in this price range from other suppliers. It's definitely not a $300 case, but is a very good unit for the price and seems to be quite strong, although I'm reluctant to trust almost any case to the tender care of typical airline baggage loaders. This case -- a dark gray model -- was puchased while on sale, and is considerably better overall than most of the cheaper plywood ones that I've seen lately in local music stores. The neoprene seal helps keep humidity where it belongs, especially useful in the dry climate of Colorado. The case locks and has six latches, and a small compartment for picks and extra strings. This particular case opens, closes and seals nicely, and the hardware is of acceptable but certainly not notworthy quality: remember, you're not paying a fortune for this case! My Seagull S6 Dreadnaught fits snugly. In my opinion, padding should be slightly thicker, but will likely perform O.K. in normal circumstances. Yes, I'm going to keep it!

Until you look closely, this case looks like a pricey fiberglass travel case. But the flimsy hinges, poorly fitting seal, thin padding, and flexible top show that you get what you pay for. LIke the 2 other cheap cases I've bought, this case doesn't just close--you have to wiggle the top. The poor balance with the shoulder strap makes it almost unusable. Any friction on the outer plastic coating scrapes it off, so after 3 weeks it has noticeable marks. On the plus side, it's probably a little more sturdy than the cheap plywood cases, and the handle is comfortable. If you can't afford a real travel case, this case is better than nothing. Since it blemishes so quickly, I would recommend that buyers wait for a "blem" and save some bucks. Overall, I feel I got an OK deal on this, and its usable. Yet, cheap is cheap and you can't get away from that.

Comments about Musician's Gear Fiberglass Dreadnought Guitar Case:

I was amazed at the quality of this case, like I said it fit my Martin D-21 perfectly and has room under the head to stash my leather strap. The compartment under the neck has a spring loaded hinged lid to so you won't close the case by accident breaking or damaging the lid. I would feel at ease letting the loading apes at the airlines throw this case around knowing nothing would happen to the guitar, although I would also use a gig bag to wrap the case in to minimize any scratches.

Comments about Musician's Gear Fiberglass Dreadnought Guitar Case:

The case is exactly what you pay for... It's an inexpensive fiberglass case that provides good protection for my Country Boy Deluxe. Because it has a good seal, you put a good humidifier and hygrometer inside and you have a great combination. Don't expect a Calton or Hoffee case, but you don't pay $1,000 either... Good investment

    Good idea for a case

    By bulldog1828

    from Boston, MA

Comments about Musician's Gear Fiberglass Dreadnought Guitar Case:

This is a great concept for a guitar case. Lightweight construction, backpack straps, and waterproof to boot, BUT the old adage "you get what you pay for" may be true with this product. I have returned three of these cases due to faulty workmanship. All three had the same problem - when I latch the case shut, there are two gaps between the top shell and bottom shell of the case, one near the headstock and one near the lower bout. I could literally see inside the case through these gaps, which nearly defeats the purpose of a case. If this problem gets fixed though, I would highly recommend this product.

    OK for the money

    By Brandon S.-5Aabv

    from California

Comments about Musician's Gear Fiberglass Dreadnought Guitar Case:

I have my Taylor 110 in this case, and it is a very snug fit in every direction except the length. I have to push the guitar down into the case to get it to fully fit with a strap attached. Even so, the clasps still take some force to lock in place sometimes due to the tight fit. The padding seems very thin. There is a strong smell of glue or some chemical, which disappears after a few days of airing out with the lid open. It is much less bulky than the typical chipboard hard case. The rubber seal seems to really work, and actually makes it slightly challenging to open the lid sometimes due to the strong seal it makes. Overall, it does its job for a good price, but it's not perfect.

    the truth

    By Hh

Comments about Musician's Gear Fiberglass Dreadnought Guitar Case:

Got this for my Alvarez Masterworks guitar. The case is very attractive and sturdy. 6 latches are alright, it stays closed very well but thats the problem. When I open it, the lid is unbalanced and it would fall down nearly hitting my acoustic, which for that reason I rate it 4 stars. The padding IS slim but its pretty snug so I wouldn't worry about the guitar getting damaged. Overall not bad if you dont get defective one

    Afghanistan and back

    By sfergus

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Musician's Gear Fiberglass Dreadnought Guitar Case:

I ordered the case for my brother when he was deployed to Afghanistan. The case we sent the guitar to him in was flimsy and he wanted something really tough. I had the case sent directly to him. He didn't mention any particular smell but he was in a tent with a bunch of Marines in the heat of summer so the smell of the case was probably better than the tent. :)The hinges did not look cheap to me when I saw it after he returned. The case kept out all the sand which was so fine there that they called it "moon dust". He was really happy with the case and the padding. It held up extremely well. We watched the Marines unloading the gear when they got home and they were not easy on it. The case had some scratches but the guitar was in perfect shape which says a lot for the case and the padding after all it went through over there. I didn't notice any smell when he had the case open. He still has it and the case is still in good shape. Hinges are still great, same with seal and padding. Ordering it online and having it shipped directly to him was a bit iffy(was crossing my fingers his guitar would fit) but it turned out well and it fit snug in the case (he has a regular acoustic). Customer service was great.

    Good case, bad smell

Really a solid case for a good price. The only problem is there's a TERRIBLE smell. Make sure you have a few days to air it out before using it, otherwise your guitar will smell bad too.
