these were tad bigger and heavier than I needed for my portable PA BUT they are very nice and an excellent value. they would no doubt hold a big speaker.. mine were only like 12x16 and light. very sturdy so if you play social functions you don't have to worry about someone brushing up against them. they get pretty high too. one thing to note, I think someone else put this in a review, is that the bottom middle pole does NOT come off the ground very far. so if you play outdoors on uneven surfaces you may need to be conscience of that. I gave them 4 stars because I would have liked a case to come with them ;)

For the money, these are a decent value, for smaller light weight speakers. They are heavier than the aluminum tube stands which seems to make them more secure. They're not "all steel" because the joint clamps are plastic. The same plastic used by all similar stand makers that cracks and breaks and sends the stands to the land fill. Another concern that reviewers have mentioned is that the legs must be clamped down very tight to hold the legs in place. I am concerned that tightening the leg clamps sufficiently will ultimately break the clamps. We'll see.

Comments about Musician's Gear Heavy-Duty Tripod Speaker Stand:

I was curious how these stands would hold a 40 lb speaker 6ft off the floor until I opened them up and saw how they were constructed and saw the method of bracing engineered into them. Very strong and sturdy.
The footprint can be adjusted without compromising the rigidity of the stand. Obviously, the heavier the speaker and the higher up it goes, the larger the footprint necessary to keep them from tipping over. These stands do a very good job of providing safe support.

This is all steel construction and therefore heavy weight as well as heavy duty. Does the job very well.
