I ordered this stand not expecting much. When I got it I noticed the superb quality. I bought it to mic my kick drum. The only thing is that the stand is about 3 inches too tall, so I cant stick the mic into the kick drum port. I may have to get a boom to add to the stand.

I personally think these stands are an ok buy IF you're willing to make some modifications to them. I bought two of them with intentions of putting boom arms on them. I expected them to have some quality issues but also figured that for the price, I'm willing to put a little time in to make them work. I had two main problems. First, the threads for the mic clip/boom arm weren't pressed into the tube well so they came loose immediately. To fix this I drilled a small hole through the tube and thread insert and stuck a pop rivet in there. Second, I found that the large thumb screw to secure the main tube to the base wasn't up to the task. I don't really need these to collapse all the way so rivets to the rescue again. I drilled through the plastic piece that holds the legs, into the main tube and popped it in there. (See the pictures) Those simple mod's took all of 10 minutes and now both stands are nice and solid. Long story short, if you want a stand that's going to be solid out of the box, pay more money. If you want to save a little cash and have the time/tools to do the mod's then this stand is an ok choice.

Strong stand that is reliable especially for the price. I've used it for amps and bass drums. Great height for both.

Comments about Musician's Gear Low Profile Tripod Base Mic Stand:

Nothing special or exciting about this stand. It gets the job done, but it better be a light job. Perfect for what I bought it for, and that is to place an outside mic on a kick drum. It does have a very small footprint. Definitely not professional but still good. Very lightweight, which means it doesn't do well with a boom attached and will fall over unless secured.

Comments about Musician's Gear Low Profile Tripod Base Mic Stand:

I bought two of these to hold my passive Galaxy Spot monitors about 18" off the floor. They work very well for this purpose; the stem fits securely into the stand mount and the legs are wide enough to keep the whole package reasonably steady. Used in small venues, these stands take up minimum floor space and are packed along with the monitors and cable in a small aluminum case. High marks for portability, utility and ease of set up.
On the down side, the locking collars for the telescoping stem are cheap plastic and strip easily. Used with caution they are adequate but will fail if overtightened. I would pay a little extra for decent collars.

I DJ EACH FRIDAY NIGHT. THIS STAND WORKS GREAT BETWEEN MY TWO COMPUTERS. I ADDED A SHORT FLEX WITH MIC CLIP AND WITH THE MS 58 THE EXTENSION IS JUST RIGHT. BEFORE I USED A TRADITIONAL MIC STAND. THIS STAND FITS IN MY EQUIPMENT CASE. ONE LESS THING TO CARRY. I'M VERY HAPPY WITH THIS LITTLE MIC STAND.

Looks good on the lip of a stage where appearances count (opera productions for example), A little concerned that theads may strip over time, so I'll handle with care, like the microphones it holds

Comments about Musician's Gear Low Profile Tripod Base Mic Stand:

This mic stand is great for the price, but there's one major problem with it. The topmost section, which consists of the threading for the mic clip and the part where it attaches to the main column of the stand, has begun to freely spin, leaving the mic open to movement during a recording or production, even when the mic clip is firmly screwed in. It is still usable, but is quite annoying. Other than that it serves its purpose.
