I read positive and negative reviews. I needed the cheapest round base boom stands I could get (I hate tripods). I got 5. 3 of them were perfect, 2 of them had loose thread pieces, whatever you call that...thing that the boom screws onto. I use them for micing my drum kit in the studio. They work, but they don't get moved around a lot. I I Do over 100 live shows a year and I don't know if these would hold up long (years)on stage, but you'll get your money's worth out of em.

Overall they are better than I expected..especially the boom. If you need a functional boom stand on the cheap, this is your stand!

I ordered 3 of these mic stands, I figured they would be low quality but not this bad. The threaded ends didn't even match up, the female threads on one boom were too big to screw onto the stand, I had to put teflon tape on them to make it work! On the another stand the threads were spinning in the tube, so I couldn't tighten it up, I had to drill a hole & put a roll pin in it to keep it from turning! The third one worked ok ... so 1 out of 3 might be ok if you want to take a gamble. Go ahead & spend a little more & get better stuff!

Comments about Musician's Gear Microphone Stand with Fixed Boom:

Great stand lock. Great boom lock and adjustment. BUT, no counterweight. Even with a standard SM-57, it just tips over. Good, heavy base, but not even that helps. Why is this even sold with no counterweight on the boom?!

Comments about Musician's Gear Microphone Stand with Fixed Boom:

These stands and booms have one Flaw. The threaded 'PLUGS' that the boom, and the Mic clips attach /screw to, are CRIMPED into the pipe end. On the Boom And the Stand.. They will work loose as others have stated. All my 40 yr old Atlas stands, have the pipe ends Theeaded, like metal plumbing pipe, --so--No Crimped-in/Swedged-in "threaded plug" to work loose. How hard would it be for MF to have the Manufacturer CUT the threads on the boom and mic stand pipe ends? Like the Cast Iron Base attaches?? All my old 'Atlas' and 'Berger' Stands, are made this way. ]I fixed my MF stands, by using a drill press to drill a hole through the pipe end and threaded plug. Then through bolted them together with a small bolt and nylock nut. FIXED FOREVER!! The guy who used a roll pin instead of a bolt/nut fixed his the Same Way!! Other than that small fix, the stands are Well Worth the LOW Price!!

Comments about Musician's Gear Microphone Stand with Fixed Boom:

I bought 2 of these to use in my home studio; the stands with fixed booms were on sale; the price was great. They're unstable on carpet, especially with the boom extended and a condenser mic on the end, but I set them on pieces of plywood and that fixed the problem. They put the mics right where I want them, so they do what they're supposed to do.

                It's your normal mic stand...

Except that the thread piece spins in the tube and theres no way to tighten it. Can be really annoying. Makes most mics unable to be adjusted correctly. Tried to duct tape it, didn't work.
