I bought one of these in june. Put it on the bridge position of my fakestrat, with a 500k pot at first. This gave me a sound that was much too bright and open, so i switched back to a 250k pot and it nailed the fat rythm sound that i was looking for. This pickup will give you a very bassy tone with lots of mids, and lots of gain. It also has a VERY high DC resistance (24 k according to the duncan website) so, as the title says, mind how it will balance with other pickups in your guitar.all in all, i am very satisfied with this pickup, and if fat, round bass and mids that cut through are your thing, then go for it.

I was looking for a alternative to a getting another Dimarzio Fastrack 2. As so as I wired it properly, I was not too happy with the sound. It was to trebley , not much much mid range punch and not enough bass thump. It could be a nice neck pick up for a beginner. I gave itaway to ny nephew and bought a DiMarzio Fastrack 2.

I put this in the neck position of my Rogue guitar. Wired it per Fender instructions. I now get that hollow bluesy sound without the mud when playing on a clean channel. When running distortion it has as much power as the hum bucker bridge pickup but with a different tone. It has done just what I had hoped and was worth the small price.

Comments about Musician's Gear Scorcher Pickup:

Tried this to replace the single coil bridge pickup in a strat copy guitar. Directions on connections were pretty easy to follow. After soldering in the leads and putting it back together, I was very impressed. Definitely a very hot pickup! The humbucker gave the guitar the growl it was missing. When played with the switch in the bridge position, it has some serious attitude. When switching to the bridge and middle, it has a nice balance between the humbucker and single coil sounds, which should improve even more when I replace the original middle and neck pickups with better single coils. It's a backup project guitar so I plan on doing the pups one at a time.Highly recommended if you have a weak sounding strat style guitar. This will breathe new life into your guitar, and is a steal at this price.

Comments about Musician's Gear Scorcher Pickup:

These were a perfect upgrade for my Squier Stratocaster. I have been wanting to upgrade it for about 5 years now. I wanted something close to active pickups and I needed them to be affordable. According to Seymour Duncan's website these are actually hotter than the standard hotrails which is perfect since I wanted that extra kick. I couldn't beat the price on these. So I bought 3 of them. They came with a nice diagram too. Pretty easy to follow, just make sure you are ok with soldering. I am not the best when it comes to electronics, but I made it work. If you are looking to upgrade your sound, these will do the job fine.

Comments about Musician's Gear Scorcher Pickup:

I put this in the neck position of my Mexi Strat. I had a Mighty Mite pre-loaded pickguard with two single coils and a humbucker. I use a lot of distortion most of the time and the single was too noisy. This pickup took care of that. It sounds pretty decent clean and distorted. If I was going to replace all of my pickups in a strat style gouitar with 3 single coil slots, I would consider these. It really is a great deal for the price.
I ordered a mini humbucker, I got a mini humbucker. Came with thorough enough wiring diagrams for basic installs.
Looked great out of the box, wiring seems solid.
Free is always best, but the pickup is way worth the price.

Great value. Good tone clean, and crunches up nicely without going to 11. Smooth, flexible. Bucks the Hum as you would want. Solid "BUY" recommendation.

great pickup for the price. Put it in the neck of my project guitar. SOunds great on either channel of my amp. Clean has a nice bluesy sound and dirty has hendrix type sound. Overall if you need a humbucker in a single coil space for pocket change this is your pick up.

            Duncan Performer Scorcher Pickup

            By Kyle P.

            from Toutle, WA

Comments about Musician's Gear Scorcher Pickup:

I put this pickup in a strat that I built out of parts laying around. Originally I had Squier Bullet pickups in the guitar until I put the Scorcher in the bridge. Man, did the guitar come alive! I will admit, if you think this thing is going to beat a Duncan Hot Rail, you are mistaken, but if you want more punch in something like a cheaper squier, but cant afford a high end pick up, you will not be dissapointed with the scorcher. I use a lot of bass and midrange and it's been brilliant. One thing that I was kind of bummed out about was having to make the pickup slot wider by shaving it down on the rounded edges so that it fit. Other than that, no problems.
