Picked this up on sale, and it's excellent for the price. Obviously has some limitations (not real heavy, lacks some adjustments), but if you need some type of boom versus just a pole stand, and are not abusive with your equipment, this stand should work well with a not too heavy mic. I have a DR Pro and there is a significant difference in build quality, feel, and features, but the DR was five or six times more expensive. The DR will last longer, but the MS-220 is certainly worth the small amount of money.
As they tell you, there are limitations. The boom slides, but is not otherwise adjustable. For example, the boom does not extend. The counterweight is more cosmetic. Don't use a mic that weighs a ton.
Not built for really heavy duty use, but not bad. Haven't had this for a long time, so we'll see how long it holds up.
What else can you get for around this price?

I bought one of these a few years ago, on a whim, and was very impressed. It was better than the Proline stands I had also bought (and I believe it was cheaper than this current impostor.) UNFORTUNATELY, now it seems, they have changed their manufacture. It's now EXACTLY like the horrible PROlines, that I hate, and want to replace. Now I begin the search to find a stand like the one I got a few years ago under this same brand name. It is a great stand, and I want more of them.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

I picked that these are best for performances, but only if you're one of those rock bands who breaks everything on stage. Within literally the first five minutes of opening the packaging, I had stripped out one of the screws on the actual plastic (seriously? Is the plastic seriously so flimsy that tightening the screw will strip it?) and I'm fairly sure that the feet are already crooked fresh out of the box. It feels like if I breathe on it too hard it'll fall over. And probably snap in half on the way. This thing is garbage. Spend a few (whatever word won't get flagged by the website's filters) extra and go with a better stand. I'm as frugal as the next guy but it'll be a cold day in you-know-where before I go cheap on these things again.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

I screwed on a microphone clip, placed the microphone on the stand and adjusted to point where I wanted it. As is often the case, it was not actually quite where I wanted it when I went to actually use it, so I started adjusting again and the whole boom arm completely snapped off.

If you set it up and lock it in one potion it is usable. Any adjustments causes it to flop around, and you have to lock it down so tight to be stable it is a joke. Pay more and get a better one this one is not worth the hassle.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

When I bought this stand it was defective and MF nicely sent me a replacement. Well after 1 year of light use, the thread that locks the boom in place failed and doesn't hold the thumb screw anymore. MF offered to replace it under warranty... if I paid for shipping. Since shipping is just a little more than a new stand would cost, that's a pretty raw deal. So my advice: buy something (or somewhere?) else.
(that's the first time I find MF's service unsatisfactory. They had been very good before).
