Picked this up on sale, and it's excellent for the price. Obviously has some limitations (not real heavy, lacks some adjustments), but if you need some type of boom versus just a pole stand, and are not abusive with your equipment, this stand should work well with a not too heavy mic. I have a DR Pro and there is a significant difference in build quality, feel, and features, but the DR was five or six times more expensive. The DR will last longer, but the MS-220 is certainly worth the small amount of money.
As they tell you, there are limitations. The boom slides, but is not otherwise adjustable. For example, the boom does not extend. The counterweight is more cosmetic. Don't use a mic that weighs a ton.
Not built for really heavy duty use, but not bad. Haven't had this for a long time, so we'll see how long it holds up.
What else can you get for around this price?

I bought one of these a few years ago, on a whim, and was very impressed. It was better than the Proline stands I had also bought (and I believe it was cheaper than this current impostor.) UNFORTUNATELY, now it seems, they have changed their manufacture. It's now EXACTLY like the horrible PROlines, that I hate, and want to replace. Now I begin the search to find a stand like the one I got a few years ago under this same brand name. It is a great stand, and I want more of them.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

These things always go on sale for dirt cheap. I use them usually for practice and recording because they're so cheap. I also used them at shows, but they don't last too long in backyard punk shows. Not ideal for heavier mics if you're using them to record, but doable if you're careful.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

I didn't expect much for the price, but the plastic threads on the tightening nut for the height is pretty concerning. I don't think it will hold up to more than a couple adjustments. I'm all for a deal, but I wish I passed on this one.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

I already had the shorter version of this which I use for positioning a pencil condenser mic to record my acoustic guitar.
This taller model is perfect for capturing vocals while I play my guitar, without getting in my way.

This stand holds my Beta 58 securely, but still lets me move it up and down a foot when I go from sitting at the keys to playing guitar

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

I have three of these now. For my studio they work just fine. They are light weight and while they work fine for a coffee house gig, they are not heavy duty road worthy. When fully extended I usually add some weight at the base. For the occasional gig, they do pack up well and are easy to carry.

Nice stand for light use. I wouldn't tour with it, but it will stand up to gigging if you take care of it. A real bargain if you can catch it on sale.

Be careful using in a live setting, it can be a bit tipsy. If you need a backup or are careful it will work adequately. It's definately not heavy duty and it's kinda like that extra stuff they toss in on a late nite infomercial. I'd recommend it, just know your getting what ya pay for and it is not HQ Heavy duty as in a Tonka.
