I bought one of these a few years ago, on a whim, and was very impressed. It was better than the Proline stands I had also bought (and I believe it was cheaper than this current impostor.) UNFORTUNATELY, now it seems, they have changed their manufacture. It's now EXACTLY like the horrible PROlines, that I hate, and want to replace. Now I begin the search to find a stand like the one I got a few years ago under this same brand name. It is a great stand, and I want more of them.

Light weight

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

Well made but light weight. I was expecting something a little more sturdy. As with most drum hardware it would be helpful if they used the term "light duty" or "light weight" in the title.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

Bought these on SDOTD to replace a broken mic stand. These stands would be fine for a home studio or rehearsal space where they don't have to be moved constantly. I brought one of these stands to a few gigs and by the second show they already are showing sings or wear and lack of long-term reliability.

Again, at this price, it's nice to have as a backup. Even if it's just to mike an amp.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

It's a mic stand. I use it to hold the mic. I play harp and sing so I wanted a boom on my stand to help when I wanted to get further from an amp that was feeding back.
Only problem was that the 1st time I took it out of the rehearsal room to the gig one of the little flimsy (possibly ceramic but broke as easy as brittle plastic) gaskets in one of the joints snapped and that was the end of that stand. Really not cool when we're sending the girls back to the house to get another stand while I share a vocal mic with my guitarist. I swear you can taste the meatball sub singing within and his mic even taste like it. It's a great stand but I would warn people to make sure everything is REAL loose before you adjust anything.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

I picked that these are best for performances, but only if you're one of those rock bands who breaks everything on stage. Within literally the first five minutes of opening the packaging, I had stripped out one of the screws on the actual plastic (seriously? Is the plastic seriously so flimsy that tightening the screw will strip it?) and I'm fairly sure that the feet are already crooked fresh out of the box. It feels like if I breathe on it too hard it'll fall over. And probably snap in half on the way. This thing is garbage. Spend a few (whatever word won't get flagged by the website's filters) extra and go with a better stand. I'm as frugal as the next guy but it'll be a cold day in you-know-where before I go cheap on these things again.
