I bought one of these a few years ago, on a whim, and was very impressed. It was better than the Proline stands I had also bought (and I believe it was cheaper than this current impostor.) UNFORTUNATELY, now it seems, they have changed their manufacture. It's now EXACTLY like the horrible PROlines, that I hate, and want to replace. Now I begin the search to find a stand like the one I got a few years ago under this same brand name. It is a great stand, and I want more of them.

Good for the price, but beware some parts are cheap

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

Some of the plastic parts are cheap, received 2 with broken clamps, they had been overtightened before I ever took them out the plastic. Good if you need stands and don't have a ton of cash.
Normal tripod boom stand. Nothing special, great if your on a budget or just need some stands
I ordered 4 of these and 3 of them had broken parts on it. 2 of the extender clamps were busted because they were overtighted, I received them busted which is pretty upsetting.
As I said at the price a pop they aren't bad at all, especially if you're on a budget.

Stand needs more weight at the bottom, to prevent tipping, and a sturdier screw on the bottom to hold the legs.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

My primary concern is that it does not seem robustly built. I have loaded mine up with an iPad on a clamp for lyrics as well as a mic. I definitely needed to aim the off-center load at one of the legs for stability.
Second, I think MF has done themselves a disservice by not clearly showing that the boom is adjustable. It just does not have the secondary inner tube that the more sophisticated booms have. The photo and description leave out any evidence of the knob that controls the position of the boom within the angle adjuster. They shouldn't call it a fixed boom. It isn't.
Third, I am worried that over time the legs will not lock in the way they do now, but of course nothing bad has happened in the week I have owned it.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

Ok, I just had to post this after I made a surprising discovery. These stands are exactly the same as the similar Pro-Line model. I own both brands. I bought the Pro-Line several years ago. Recently I purchased the Musician's Gear, which came with a Shure mic and cable package.
The cost difference is about twenty @#%^& each between the two. The Pro-Line costing more.
I completely dis-assembled both mic stands to see if there was any difference. And there is absolutely none. They are exactly the same down to the rubber feet on the ends of the legs. Neither of these brands is absolutely road worthy, because of too much plastic in the mounts and clamps. However, I've used the Pro-Line for many years with no problems. Of course, I take good care of my equipment. If you abuse ANYTHING in music equipment, it will fail. So, don't gripe because YOU, or some idiot performer breaks it. These are good stands for those of us who aren't filthy rich, and have to work hard for every penny we get to spend on equipment. No, they're not the best, but you really do get what you pay for many times. Buy these,.... and don't spend an extra twenty @#%^& each on the Pro-Line. They're exactly the same thing.

Good quality light weight mike stand

      By James Blumenfeld

      from Boston, MA

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

Perfect for my application - for an RTA mike in an home audiophile system
A super good deal on a lite duty mike stand. I wouldn't use this to tour with but if you need something inexpensive to use with a lighter weight mike this is a great deal.
      Garage bands rejoice!
Decent consumer quality - not pro
      Superb!

MS-220 is perfectly fine for the price

      By SteveGBurg

      from Maryland

      See all my reviews

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

Picked this up on sale, and it's excellent for the price. Obviously has some limitations (not real heavy, lacks some adjustments), but if you need some type of boom versus just a pole stand, and are not abusive with your equipment, this stand should work well with a not too heavy mic. I have a DR Pro and there is a significant difference in build quality, feel, and features, but the DR was five or six times more expensive. The DR will last longer, but the MS-220 is certainly worth the small amount of money.
As they tell you, there are limitations. The boom slides, but is not otherwise adjustable. For example, the boom does not extend. The counterweight is more cosmetic. Don't use a mic that weighs a ton.
Not built for really heavy duty use, but not bad. Haven't had this for a long time, so we'll see how long it holds up.
What else can you get for around this price?

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

This stand is exactly what you need for an extra stand or three. I just got it, but I know it will work fine with the average dynamic mics.

I did use one of my condensers, and it held it up at full extension without problems. It's not a high end studio stand, but that's not why I bought it.

The long end of the boom was cracked when I received it, and musiciansfriend immediately replaced it at no cost without me sending back the broken one. Talk about service. They didn't even blink. Thanks!

      Get What You Pay For

      By Superrust

      from Santa Cruz

Comments about Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom:

I added this stand to my setup when I was short on cash. I only use it as a last resort, it functions but it just feels fragile. It is a cheaper stand though so what do you expect for a sub 20 dollar stand? I use it in my studio and would not be happy to use it live. Works in the studio as long as no one touches it as it rotates really easily and does not seem very stable. If you are considering this because you are short on cash then go for it because it will hold your mics but if you can afford something of better quality I would advise against this particular stand.

This was a great buy, would be nice if they told you that you have to buy the microphone holder. But for the cost you cant beat it.
