they are inexpensive and they hold your guitars as they were designed to do. i don't go on gigs or tours, so i can't speak on that aspect of it. i simply use mines at home to hold and display my collection of guitars. and for that, they work just fine.

For a cheap stand these do hold a guitar and serve their purpose, however, the old "you get what you pay for" adage is certainly true - these are not as stable as stands that cost only a little more and they also have some quality control issues. If you are looking for gigging stands or a stand for a prized guitar you don't want kissing the floor on occasion if you aren't careful - you will want a different stand. Read on for full details.

CONS:

As I said, these stands do hold a guitar, but they have a fundamental design flaw (back leg is too short) that make them unstable. They are easily tipped to either side (back and to the left or back and to the right) with a slight bump or when trying to secure the neck strap without also holding the stand. The strap is kind of difficult to secure regardless and just results in an "If I'm going down, you're going down with me, pal!" situation for your guitar. Unfortunately, the guitar stand can't say that in Kurt Russell's voice, so it's decidedly uncool if it happens.

Quality control isn't great on these, the neoprene rubber tubing on mine have a few permanently squished flat spots. The metal in the U shaped piece that holds the guitar isn't uniformly bent on both sides, making the guitar sit more on one side than the other. There is a small spot on one where the black finish spray missed. I used the best pieces from both stands to make the best stand possible with what I was given, and the other stand that is slightly more "Island of Misfit Toys" will be my visiting guitarist stand. ;)

These do break down into 3 separate pieces, but it's not really travel friendly as you have 3 pieces to keep up with and they are awkwardly shaped. I don't think it would fit in most gig bags, and definitely not in a guitar case. A one piece collapsable stand is much more travel friendly.

Item is not exactly as pictured, the rubber feet are shaped differently and the back leg appears to be longer in the picture. I think they are just using an old stock photo and the design has changed slightly since then.

PROS:

They do have a warning tag on them stating they are not for nitro finish guitars, so if you miss that in the product description or are giving these out to friends/family, there is one last chance to get out before accidentally melding it to a nitro finish guitar.

There are two metal nibs in the U shaped cradle part that keep it from slipping out of the hole in the base of the stand, works great as far as I can tell. I have also had no problems with the plastic and metal screw in piece that holds the top part of the stand in place.

It arrived very well packed, though they do not come in individual boxes, they are just three pieces (the screw part comes already in the stand) neck, base, cradle, in a plastic bag that is taped shut. I am sure no damage occurred to mine during shipping.

CONCLUSION:

All in all I got what I expected and paid for, and I am generally a careful person, so I doubt I will have a lot of issues with these in my home. I keep my guitars in their cases when I'm done with them for the day to keep them away from dust/dirt, violent accidental damage and various creeping damage. Just like cookies are now a "sometimes" snack for Cookie Monster, stands should be only a "sometimes" way of storing a guitar when you aren't using it.

For anyone interested, these do have a Made in China sticker on them.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tubular Guitar Stand Black Pair:

these are just guitar stands... and i always seem to need "one more." i'm 68 and semi retired. i run a small botique studio out of my home and play in a couple of local bands. these are good, sturdy, stable and INEXPENSIVE stands.

some one is always "dropping in" with their new baby and then prop it up with its head stock notched into the door jamb so it won't slide.

    Ahhhh... no

at times my living room resembles a small forest, complete with a tribe wandering around in various states of attention.

these stands fit the bill. they do the job. they don't cost much. and it won't break the bank if a friend borrows one for a gig and forgets to bring it back for six months

Comments about Musician's Gear Tubular Guitar Stand Black Pair:

The stand I received this time has been greatly cheapened, although the product photo shows the old style. Very misleading. What you see is not what you get. The tubular frame is thinner and the third leg is now so short that the stand is very unstable. Stand is practically useless.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tubular Guitar Stand Black Pair:

It does have foam pads that come with a warning that it might damage some finishes. Plan to cover the foam with microfiber cloth or something, just in case or know exactly what finish your guitar has. It is sturdy enough, it wouldn't stand up to a stampede, but what would. It could be better and if you have enough money buy better, otherwise this will work. I've seen better, I've seen worse, take it for what it is.
