I've been buying these exact same stands for years. They're built great for the price and they work just fine. I've probably owned 20 or more of them without a single issue. They're stable, they never fall over, no guitar of mine has ever fallen off of one, and anyone who claims that they're junk is probably either nitpicking or has unreasonably high demands for such a simple piece of equipment.

As others have noted, though, the one downside to these (and many other stands that cost considerably more, as well) is that the foam padding causes a chemical reaction with nitro-finished guitars and will slowly, but surely, eat the finish off of them. If your guitar is poly-finished (like the vast majority of guitars in the world are), this stand is fine for your guitar. If you're not sure whether or not your guitar is nitro-finished, then it's pretty safe to say it's not. However, if your finish is yellowed and has a lot of hairline cracks all over it, then you may have a nitro finish. Nitro is mostly found on vintage guitars or expensive ones built for tone junkies. Those sort of guitars don't come cheap, so if you spent less than four figures on your guitar, I would trust it to this stand. If in doubt, though, it might be wise to find out for sure.

For all other finishes, this is a great stand and the price simply can't be beat. Two thumbs way up on this one.

Just like everything else, things change. Historically, I've bought Musicians Friend guitar stands and for my home studio was satisfied with function/value.
But the stand I received this time has been reengineered (product photo appears to be the old model). I think that the tublar metal frame is of a thinner gauge and most of all is NOT Stable! The bottom hanger of the unit now engages with the upright through a hole in the upright. The old model had a sleeve that extended about 2" that engaged with the bottom hanger. But the biggest difference is that the support legs are very short. If you walk by and brush against the unit get ready to catch your guitar. The sale price is the only thing that's keeping it here and the fact I bought it for visiting musicians. MOST DEFINITELY DON'T USE IN A TRAFFIC AREA!

Comments about Musician's Gear Tubular Guitar Stand:

This is my first time with Musiaian's Friend; I constantly shop the web, and have bought many item's such as guitars, keyboards, amps, headphones ad infinitum. Although I found the stand at another site for less, the shipping would add to it; this was about the same stand. Musician's shipping was fast, and the stand was very well boxed. I put my "strat" into the stand, which was stable and looked very good: new guitar, new stand; a very stable 3-footed stand, with a lot of rubber protection. What I read in the directions was that the stand could attack the laquer finish; I've owned a laquer strat, but not this one. Wish I had a camera, because the strat in the stand look really good.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tubular Guitar Stand:

Good stand for the money. The two arms that hold the body of the guitar are not as wide as previous models but works for the 3/4 guitar I'm using it for. Not identical to the Musicians Friend model I bought less than a year ago so they don't match (small point).

Comments about Musician's Gear Tubular Guitar Stand:

The stand holds my 1980 Fender P-Bass fine. Care must be taken when setting the guitar in the stand because the bottom guitar support swivels in it's mounting. Other than that, it is great, particularly at this price point.
I would recommend using this stand in a home studio setting. Because of it's light weight, and marginal stability, I'd be afraid to use it on stage.

Comments about Musician's Gear Tubular Guitar Stand:

Good stand for the sale price I got it for. The only problem is that while it is setup to be used you can't retract the neck that far down because the bottom guitar support protrudes through the main part of the stand and keeps the neck from going down. All said and done though it's a nice stand and also has the rubberized neck lock to keep the guitar from falling off the stand. Good buy. No, not goodbye, well, yea, I'm done, Goodbye...

Acoustic guitar back hits stand tube. Tube that guitar sits on is not wide enough. Guitar tips easily. Cost more in shipping to return cheaper to put in trash. I have a (on stage stands) owned for years. works great. picture looked the same. 100 % difference
