I've been buying these exact same stands for years. They're built great for the price and they work just fine. I've probably owned 20 or more of them without a single issue. They're stable, they never fall over, no guitar of mine has ever fallen off of one, and anyone who claims that they're junk is probably either nitpicking or has unreasonably high demands for such a simple piece of equipment.

As others have noted, though, the one downside to these (and many other stands that cost considerably more, as well) is that the foam padding causes a chemical reaction with nitro-finished guitars and will slowly, but surely, eat the finish off of them. If your guitar is poly-finished (like the vast majority of guitars in the world are), this stand is fine for your guitar. If you're not sure whether or not your guitar is nitro-finished, then it's pretty safe to say it's not. However, if your finish is yellowed and has a lot of hairline cracks all over it, then you may have a nitro finish. Nitro is mostly found on vintage guitars or expensive ones built for tone junkies. Those sort of guitars don't come cheap, so if you spent less than four figures on your guitar, I would trust it to this stand. If in doubt, though, it might be wise to find out for sure.

For all other finishes, this is a great stand and the price simply can't be beat. Two thumbs way up on this one.

Just like everything else, things change. Historically, I've bought Musicians Friend guitar stands and for my home studio was satisfied with function/value.
But the stand I received this time has been reengineered (product photo appears to be the old model). I think that the tublar metal frame is of a thinner gauge and most of all is NOT Stable! The bottom hanger of the unit now engages with the upright through a hole in the upright. The old model had a sleeve that extended about 2" that engaged with the bottom hanger. But the biggest difference is that the support legs are very short. If you walk by and brush against the unit get ready to catch your guitar. The sale price is the only thing that's keeping it here and the fact I bought it for visiting musicians. MOST DEFINITELY DON'T USE IN A TRAFFIC AREA!

Great stand, the foam is thick and the frame is sturdy for heavy basses. It won't fit my Conklin 7 string bass but that thing is huge...

Comments about Musician's Gear Tubular Guitar Stand:

I bought this item because I wanted a basic stand for my inexpensive guitar that I keep at the office and play on breaks. I didn't need a fancy stand like I use a home. I'd say this one is perfectly functional as a place to put any guitar that you to set down for a bit in a relatively low-traffic area. Could also be good for a guitar (or guitar controller) used with with guitar games. You may not want to use it where someone is likely to knock it over--for that, I'd choose a lower-slung, A-frame style stand. I probably would want something more heavy-duty for stage use, but that would depend on the nature of the gig, I suppose. I like that it came with a rubber thong to hold the neck in place. Overall, I found this stand to be better than I expected, although I didn't expect much, considering the low price. Turned out to be considerably nicer than the simple tubular stand I got with my first guitar many years ago. If you're leaning your guitar against something or setting it down on the floor/sofa, or constantly moving it back and forth to a case, then you probably need some sort of stand, and I think this is a decent choice that won't disappoint.

Works ok but the back leg is too short and causes it to be unstable. The back leg should be adjustable.

Yes, its fine for the price, but beware of the foam used on this stand. It WILL harm your guitar's finish. This is stated in the listing but I thought I'd take a chance. Within hours I could see orange peel starting to form. Now I have a towel draped over the bottom supports.

The metal tubing is very thin. Not much of a connection where it's welded to the yoke at the top. Broke off after only 4 months of use.

The stand was delivered very quickly. It exceeds my expectations of functionality.
It holds the guitar (an acoustic Fender) securely in the place.
                        Well worth it the try.
Highly recommend it to anyone who needs an inexpensive solution for a guitar stand.

This is a great product of tried and true design. Well constructed. Holds the guitar(s) easily. Also works for my banjo. A rubber clip holds the guitar in place in case someone drunkenly or otherwise bumps into the guitar. In addition to being quite strong and stable, it breaks down to two smaller pieces for increased mobility.
