I bought this case and am generally pleased. I keep an Ibanez SR655 in it. After about a year and a half, the neck support collapsed allowing the bass to slide to the bottom of the case when stored standing on its side. The base would rest on the side of the body and the neck collapsed the cradle of the case that supports the neck of the bass. I disassembled the case and found this piece to be made of styrofoam. I made a wood replacement piece for it and now have been using it for over two years since the repair.

The case looks great, but my Fender bass was very loose in it. I had to modify the neck support and add padding under the bass body to keep it from slipping. I do not think it would hold up well for a professional musician, and would only recommend it for light duty.

Comments about Musician's Gear Vintage Bass Guitar Case:

This case is for my daughter's short-neck bass. I made the bass from an old 60's era Baldwin. She likes it over any of the standard-sized basses, the fret distances are shorter, but only a gig bag was appropriate prior. This is the "distressed leather" version with gold hardware. I had a shiny-brass nameplate made for the case which matches the hardware. She thinks it's classy! The new case does make the homemade bass appear more professional.
The case was a great bargain for one of this quality. It's larger than a Strat case, but still manageable for her 5'4" height and fits in the backseat of a car.

Comments about Musician's Gear Vintage Bass Guitar Case:

I have used it to go to one gig; looks great in our rockabilly band, fits in the back seat of a Prius. Don't believe I would put in in the cargo bay of a jet airliner though. -- Laissez le bon pain de priodes ! !
Looks great, little darker than the illustration. Has 4 hinges, locks, handle is comfortable. Pretty big pocket, holds my AGG wireless, Polytune tuner, extra cable, batteries, etc in the compartment. Able to put folder with music under headstock. Should have TSA locks.
            Typical stink inside when first opened; I don't know if it's from the glue or the fabric.. Wadded up newspaper and sprayed Fabreze in it and toned down the stink. Pretty poor fit of the lid to the bottom; have to kind of twist it to shut and latch; maybe if I put it out in he sun on a humid day it will twist int shape. I don't want to go thbru the hassel fdo returnign it, although Musicians Friend is good about that. Brace under the neck a litle high for a P-Base, I put a towel under the body and the fit is acceptable, headstock does not brace against the lid anymore. Does not seem like it's made from durable material;
I would save the bucks and get the lower-priced MF Tweed case; I have one of those and had the same problems, fiut and stink but at a lower price and it looks fine.

            Vintage Base Guitar Case

Comments about Musician's Gear Vintage Bass Guitar Case:

I bought a Fender American Standrd Jass Bass from a local music store at a going out of business sale and the only case they had was a mbt case at alot higher cost. I bought another bass guitar (Peavey Zodiac BXP) and needed another case for it so I purchased this case from Musicians Friend for the Fender online not knowing if I would like it. I got it within a few days surprizingly and this case is way beyond what I expected! It's a beautiful match for either of my basses but everyone who I've showed it to agrees, This makes my fender a show piece!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanx Much!

Cheap price, decent universal bass case.
This case is sick in real life. it just looks so dope. The only problem with it is the build quality. there isn't a strap, so it slids around pretty bad when traveleing, also, the main material that surrounds the bass on the inside of the case is compact styrofoam with a soft linnning. Besides that, this case is sick.
styrofoam inside instead of wood supports...
            pretty cheap

            Buyer's Remorse?

            By Ringo-BxWCj

Comments about Musician's Gear Vintage Bass Guitar Case:

I just bought the Musician's Gear Vintage Bass Guitar Case and it's more appealing to the eye than anything. The case is somewhat flimsy and the handle looks like it will break off sooner than later. The saddle for the neck didn't hold the neck in place and let the bass slip out and HIT the inside of the case when set on its side. I ended up raising the saddle and the surrounding material a half inch (with wood) to fix this problem. This showed me how low of quality material the is made of. You would think with being made of such materials and manufactured in China it would be cheaper.Overall I wouldn't recommend this case. I bought it to save some money and am already regretting it. If you actually care about your bass you'll spend the extra money for a more reliable one.

Comments about Musician's Gear Vintage Bass Guitar Case:

Bought this about two months ago for a Fender P-Bass. So far, I only use it to go back and forth for lessons and can't comment on using it for gigging or traveling. If you want something with more protection than a hard case, this is great. I like it for my purposes.

Update from Sept 16, 2008 review

Comments about Musician's Gear Vintage Bass Guitar Case:

Wrote the review 'VERY NICE CASE!!!' on Sept 16, 2008. Here it is 4/16/10 & tho't I'd give an update. I have taken this case out 3-4 times a week since I bought it, & other than a few scuffs here & there, it still looks good. Nothing has broken, nor come loose. Handle, latches, all good. My case has carried both my Jazzes, my Pbass, & my G&L L2500, all safe & sound. I am considering buying another; 4 basses, only 3 cases. I will say that I baby my equipment, & that I handle all my gear myself. No roadies, no crammed to the ceiling vans. That may prove to be a different outcome. But as for my needs, this case is STILL a great buy.

            Average Case

Comments about Musician's Gear Vintage Bass Guitar Case:

Got this case for a Spector that didn't come with anything. The bass fits fine, and the case does everything it should: closes, protects and locks. It looks like a very expensive case from 5 feet away with the vintage covering, but it isn't. It's worth the money compared to other name brand cases but it's cheaply and quickly constructed. I now actually own two of these and one is made quite a bit better than the other. Not sure what's up with that? I would recommend this case to anyone who needs a good looking cheap case just to get by but not someone looking for a high quality dependable case for a very expensive bass.
