I recently purchased a P.A. system and the original mic cord that came with the P.A. started shorting after 1 minor use,so I contacted Musicians Friend asap and requested another mic cord. Not only did they contact me right away, they did not do the usual bs companies normally do and make you spend money out of your pocket to send it back and wait countless weeks for a replacement...No problems whatsoever, they wrote me basically stating another mic cord is on the way which I received in a short amount of time....this is a great company.

A very disappointing purchase. The cord was used in my studio in a stationary application between a stationary microphone and the board. It was never used live or on a hand held mic.The cord worked as expected for (literally) a couple months at which time it started cracking and popping horribly. It lasted just long enough that I couldn't return it... ...nice.The problem SEEMS to be INSIDE the connections in BOTH XLR ends. The only way it would NOT crack and pop was if constant sideways pressure was applied to both XLR ends while inserted into the equipment, which I had to do for a day or two until I could get a new cord, but this wasn't feasible (or reasonable) to maintain, especially at the microphone end.I had figured, "It's a cord, what could go wrong" and had chosen to ignore the "You get what you pay for" rule.Yes, it was an inexpensive cord, but the hassle cost me a lot of time and frustration AND it didn't end up saving me any money. It was my first LIVE WIRE product, and it will also be my last. I will never buy another LIVE WIRE product.

      Awful

Comments about Musician's Gear XLR Microphone Cable:

      awful.
This has to be one of the worst cables i have ever used. It is no where near a good connection, and you will be lucky to even have a connection at all. It is constantly humming and crackling, and it is almost impossible to get a good sound of of these cheap cables. Spend the extra money and get good cables, instead of buying these that you will surely have to return.

Much better quality cable and ends than I expected for the price. Comparable, or better than, the cables that used to come with Shure SM-58 microphones 20 years ago.

          Highly recommended. WILL purchase again.

As posted by others this cable does not grap the mic securlty causing crackeling and a need to put pressure on the cable where it fits the mic. My cable did this after a short while and I never abused it. Don't buy these.

These cables last and pick up no outside hum. There is nothing to dislike.
This is a huge update from MFs bottom line mic cable. The cable itself is larger, and extremely durable. The connectors are excellent, snug and secure.
For cost vs benefits, this can't be beat.

              See all my reviews

Comments about Musician's Gear XLR Microphone Cable:

When I first got this, if anything hit the mic cable, i would hear an insanely loud crackling noise, which tends to be quite frequent among users of this cable. So, to fix it, i placed three orthodontic (braces) rubber bands near the back of the mic connector so there would be a firmer grip, and this worked out very well, caused less motion and disconnection between the microphone and the cable. The orthodontic rubber bands that i used are about 2 millimeters in diameter, so i would figure that anything of an equivalent size would work well.

Comments about Musician's Gear XLR Microphone Cable:

These are basic cables; nothing more. Great if you use them in the studio, probably won't last if you tour with them. Buy them if you are going to leave them in place with your DAW; buy something higher quality if you travel and play a bunch.

Comments about Musician's Gear XLR Microphone Cable:

I own live wire cables exclusively. I set up and tear down at least two times a week, and use them for live gigs. I have never had a single problem.

They are guaranteed. If you have a problem, take them down to your local store for replacement. But I would like to suggest buying them from Musicians Friend as they have always treated me right.

I will continue to purchase Livewire cables until such time as I experience the same trouble. I am thinking Livewire wants continued business as well, and that they will continue to build a solid product.

              Not Live Wire Quality

Comments about Musician's Gear XLR Microphone Cable:

Live wire usually make a good cable for guitar. I admit I've never used a live wire mic cable. It sounds ok and is a beefy thick wire but looks like cheap chinese crap. No where does it say Live Wire on it. It looks like a generic substitute and I was too lazy to send it back. We'll see maybe it'll hold up but I'm doubtful by the look of it.

Comments about Musician's Gear XLR Microphone Cable:

As mentioned in another review on this page, the ends on these things last about 2 days. I bought ten of these back in May 2010, and one by one, every single cable has gone out. The ends just FALL RIGHT OUT and will not stay in a mic, mixer, whatever you are using. Please save your money. I am about to invest in some expensive cables, those are the only ones that have lasted for me in the past.

Comments about Musician's Gear XLR Microphone Cable:

Back in April of 2010 I ordered two of these because I thought they were a good deal, Ha! I never tried them when they came in which I should have. Yesterday I tried them for the first time. They don?t fit a mic snug, they fit loose. They create a lot of crackling noise with or without touching the cable and they keep cutting out while singing. I tried four different mics with these and the same thing happened over and over again. Then I tried a different mic cable by a different manufacturer and no problems with any of the micS. I learned my lesson, skimp on other things but not cables. Always try everything as they come in; now I have to pay for shipping to send them back to the manufacturer.

Cheap and long enough for most jobs.
I've owned 8 of these cables for over 3 years and they are all still functioning perfectly, never had a problem.

These cables seem to be pretty hit or miss. I ordered four of them and one stopped working after maybe 5 hours of total usage. The other three are still going strong though, so for the price they're definitely ok, but I wouldn't rely on these to make it through gigs or recording sessions.
