OVERVIEW

Safe and simple guitar humidification.

The body of the Blue Oasis Guitar Humidifier is made from a specially designed fabric that allows water vapor (but not water) to pass through it. As the vapor transmission takes place, a vacuum is created and Oasis shrinks to compensate for the loss of water. By watching the Oasis humidifier shrink, you can determine when it is ready for refill. When refilling, you don't have to guess when it is full. Simply unscrew the black cap, fill with water to the top of the container and replace the cap. Once sealed, the watertight container is your first line of defense against leaks. Humigel, the super absorbent polymer crystals inside the Oasis Humidifier, are your second line of defense. Humigel captures up to 500 times its weight in water in an absorbent gel matrix.

Like other sound hole humidifiers, Oasis fits between the strings of your instrument. The materials that touch your strings are relatively soft and will not scratch your strings. A blue polyurethane stabilizing bar fits over the neck of the guitar humidifier. Once positioned in the sound hole, the stabilizing bar lies across the guitar strings to ensure even weight distribution. Oasis never touches the body of your guitar.

For normal seasonal humidification (down to 25% relative humidity), most guitarists can rely on the original Blue Oasis. The Oasis provides humidification for 7-10 days before needing to be refilled.

I live in Colorado and use these year-round. Distilled water is a must for me since it seems like half of the Rocky Mountains are dissolved in our tap water. At 70 cents a gallon for distilled water (and a gallon lasts a very long time), it just makes sense for me.I've got a little over a dozen acoustic guitars with a wide value range, but I use these on every one of them -- even the cheap ones -- and I'm very pleased with the results. Tuning is stable -- a good sign of proper humidity control. One problem I've had with a couple of them: it seems that after a year or two, the constant shrinking (and crinkling) and unshrinking of the tube material causes spot leaks to develop, enough so that when you fill one you immediately see a wet spot (or two) show up on the outside. Also, the tube no longer shrinks as the humigel crystals dry out - air is leaking in. Oasis has very kindly replaced 2 of the ones I had that developed leaks (thanks!) but I've now got another one that is showing the signs. It's not a bad failure rate, really, considering how many I own, but if you only have one and it happens to you, then your failure rate is 100%. Ouch.Despite this minor complaint, I'll keep using them because they're the best and most cost-effective guitar humidifiers I've ever used. And my guitars - even the cheap ones -- deserve proper care.

Bought this 11 months ago. It's had a very "easy" life. Never left the house, spent all it's time in a guitar case. Only used distilled water.

I noticed it had no water, but hadn't shrunk. Filled it, and there was a tiny bit of water on the outside. Shook it off, dried it on my shirt, and a few seconds later, felt more water. Squeezing gently exposed a leak in the bottom of the cylinder.

I will NOT buy another one. Waste of money, and a potential catastrophe.

Simplify Guitar Humidification

Comments about Oasis OH-1 Original Guitar Humidifier:

I have been using a Kyser sound hole humidifier for years - worked well but messy and dificult to refill. The Oasis OH-1 is easy to use, the container collapses as a visual signal that it is time to add water. Provided syringe makes adding the water easy and mess free. Good product for anyone who has a serious acoustic guitar they want to keep appropriately hydrated.

Comments about Oasis OH-1 Original Guitar Humidifier:

From the pictures I thought this would be more presure on my strings than I would want. Not a problem. Then I was concerned about the weight of this causing a lean and tension to the neck. Again not a problem. Even with my Guild F150 standing up in the case leaning against the wall no problem as part of the body of the humidifier is up against the sound hole and no direct contact with the water part is touching the guitar. I do not know how well this would do bouncing in a vehicle or whatever on the way to a gig. It is easy to use, easy to refill and seems to be just what i need. I use this laying down in the case and sometimes standing up while it is leaning against the wall.

Comments about Oasis OH-1 Original Guitar Humidifier:

Great product, does what it says. This was recommended to me by Breedlove for my high-end acoustic. The only drawback is you have to spread the D and G strings quite far to insert it between them, which makes me a little uncomfortable, so I usually slacken the strings a bit.

        Good Product!

Comments about Oasis OH-1 Original Guitar Humidifier:

After using the "Dampit" or sponge-type humidifier for some time, I really like this one better! The water you place inside this humidifier is captured inside by the absorption gel (like a disposable diaper) so there's no danger of over-wetting and getting too much moisture into your guitar. Plus, it's EZ to tell when it's ready for re-filling -- shrivels up like a prune. Altho a little pricey, it's safer and more foolproof than the sponge-type humidifiers.

I am a bassist but also have several accoustic guitars, including a vintage Gibson. During the NE winters the house gets very dry. This humidifier gives me a safe, no drip method of keeping my axes from cracking.

I've tried a lot of guitar humidifiers and in my opinion this one is the best. It's simple. Easy to use. You know when to refill it with water. The replacement crystals are cheap. It doesn't leak nor drip. It's works really well! It is much better than the sponge humidifiers.
