I've had this stand for a few weeks now and the stability and tightness of the stand are great. I also have an Ultimate Support mic stand that doesn't tighten down enough and can be a little flimsy, not so with this On-Stage stand. My church also has a bunch of On-Stage mic stands that have held up pretty well for 3-4 years now and that's with a lot of people not always treating them the greatest (i.e. not untightening the boom before adjusting it). I bought mine on sale which made it an even better deal as well!

Purchased 2 of these from MF on Sale. First time to use, A band mate said look the Boom is drooping. Looking at the Boom Clutch bolt and the threaded Nut / with the T bond handles, The Bolt threads and the bolt Look like wrong sizes to screw together. Very sloppy threading of the bolt and Nut. Rather then send them back, I went to the hardware store and purchased a New Bolt and mating "thread all" nut. This like a 5/16" diameter nut that is about 1" long. Drill a 3/16" hole near one end and put the T bone handle in cross ways. It will not fail ever again. Of course you need a Drill, Vise and Metal drill bits to fabricate this. I guess after adding 20 minutes of work and about $1.50 in new parts buying the stand for its price is still a good deal.

Comments about On-Stage Stands 72010 Tripod Mic Stand with Boom:

Bought this stand for my solo gigs, it worked for a few times before slipping at the base, extremely unstable stand, not at all worthy of buying. Contacted the manufacturer, they were very nice to send me a second stand for free, it didn't take but 2 weeks for the same thing to happen again, becoming unstable and slipping at the base to a point where I had to buy a new different mic stand.

I was happy with the price. However the stand is light at the bottom and wants to fall over and with the mic. it seems to fall down on the piano.

Comments about On-Stage Stands 72010 Tripod Mic Stand with Boom:

The stand is unbalanced and tips over under its own weight. I have to keep something heavy on the legs to prevent it from falling over. Other than that, it's perfectly fine.

Comments about On-Stage Stands 72010 Tripod Mic Stand with Boom:

Works well for SM57/58 style mics. Seems to droop some with the heavier condensers. A spacer or 2 should stabilize it. Good stand for the money. Much better than the other lower price boom stand that strips out very easy.

Comments about On-Stage Stands 72010 Tripod Mic Stand with Boom:

With the boom extended, they are not very secure. Easily overbalanced. They are also too heavy. They are okay for what they are, but need care and attention to keep from damage. I like a lighter stand - especially the boom section - that doesn't overbalance.

I was looking through the reviews and I was kind of iffy on getting one but I decided to get one because the price caught my eye! so I use it for singing and saxophone. it is stable and holds my SM57 in place. it is not wobbly and it is just right what I needed.

Comments about On-Stage Stands 72010 Tripod Mic Stand with Boom:

I bought this stand with a bunch of other gear, to gear up for doing sound at a convention. I started running low on money for the gig, so I settled for this stand. I was Leary about it and I should have stuck a few bucks into another on... It lost function almost immediately. I had set it up for a drummer who sang backup vocals. The boom wouldn't stay in place - it would spin around even with everything tightened up! Hence, the mic would fall out and was useless to the drummer - to my embarrassment. After the air cleared, I looked at it closer. I discovered that the counter weight was only for appearance - just cheap plastic. That was when I also was able to figure out the why it wouldn't work. It REALLY let me down! Don't get this stand!!!

Purchased this stand and it lasted about 2 weeks before the piece that attaches the boom to the stand broke off. Only used the stand in our practice space, no gigging. A few angle adjustments and it just broke. Would never buy another one. Spend a bit more for something that will last longer than this one.

Just not built to last, nice for the cost, but if it won't last it's still a waste
I got this mic stand about 6 months ago. after about the third time I put it up it fell down. I was able to monkey with it for a while and actually took a piece off. After that it worked for a while. But then it started falling down again. I can not get it to stay up anymore. It worked great when it works, but now it doesnt and i am stuck shopping for a new one. I'm just starting recording and am on a budget, but i can see that i am going to have to get something a little more sturdy.

To all the haters out there with the crummy reviews please realize what you are paying for. I have several of these and they have held up very well for what I paid for them. If you want an indestructible stand then pony up the money and buy one but if want a decent stand that gets the job done then this stand is a good value.

Comments about On-Stage Stands 72010 Tripod Mic Stand with Boom:

I am using this one for my SM-57 mic in my live setup. The first one I bought ended up in the main studio holding the SM7B. Very stable and affordable! Looking great doesn't hurt it. Solid buy!
