Not tall enough, metal rivets in tray make writing notes difficult

Features:

It uses screw knobs, so it's not great if you like to lower the tray after playing.  For example, in a church setting, you might stand to play your instrument, but then during the sermon you may want to lower the tray so that you see the speaker (or so people in back of you can see).  Also, if you go from a lowered position and then raise it during your performance, there is nothing to stop the upper shaft from coming completely out of the lower shaft, so now the top portion is wobbling in your hand and all of you sheet music falls to the floor (hasn't happened to me, but I could see it happening).

Quality:

Seems study enough.  It uses metal tubes and then plastic at all of the joints.  The braces for the bottom tripod seem to function well.  The scew knobs seem to keep everything in place (though I'm using this for a practice area, so it doesn't get taken down and moved at all).

There are four rivets in the middle of the tray.  They are very annoying if you are trying to write notes on your sheet music (if you only have less than 3 layers of paper).

Overall:

The "OnStage Conductor" stand will probably work if you sit while playing or standing if your height is less than 5'-8".  I'm 6'-3" and this stand (at max extension) barely makes it to my chest, so I have to look down quite a bit (while standing playing guitar).  When fully extended, the bottom of the tray is at 3'-8".  With a slight tilt in the tray, the center of my sheet music is at 4'.  I need something with about 8 more inches.

It's called a "conductor" stand, but I would think it's lack of height makes it a poor choice for that application.  Usually the conductor stands on a riser so that he/she can be easily seen.  The stand stays on the floor.  If our conductor at church were to use this stand, the sheet music would be down at his waist.  And again, the inability to easily raise and lower it is a negative in the "conductor" application.

I'll be looking for something new that is taller and has a clean, flat tray (no rivets).

I had this stand for a couple years. Then the screw for the clutch  stripped out. Trying now to find a replacement screw. If I can't I will  replace this stand with something else. Bummer.

Overall:

This really is a very good stand for the price. However, it becomes useless when the clutch screw strips out. Trying now to find a replacement part for the screw, not encouraged.

Design Flaw

I have been very happy with this stand until the threads on one of the screws failed while setting up for a program. I swapped the failed screw with one that hadn't failed yet. Really surprised to see this weak point (stripped threads on the screw). It appears there is an obvious design flaw in the screws. The steel used is too soft and the fine threads are too thin to withstand repeated use which the stand was supposed to be able to handle. It would be nice if the company would replace all failed screws or make replacement parts readily available. Using metric threads has hindered finding suitable replacement screws, i.e. thumb screws.

A screw problem...

Music stand is fine, but like the review below says, the screws strip really quick. Don't know if we have a bad batch here, but we have 4 of them and 3 of them have stripped screws. I'm sure the 4th one will be going soon. Had to get replacements from the hardware store (M6 x 1.0 with the butterfly ends). And doesn't this stand look exactly like the Musician's Gear one?
