I am a professional composer, musician and singer songwriter. I bought this as I have had to downsize my recording studio space temporarily as we have moved home into a smaller place. Until we move again, I won't have my own recording studio,or my own music room to do whatever I want in :(. Due to space constrictions, I had to give away the custom built huge desk space and shelving that my husband had built for me and needed something functional to work my equipment which would also offer the correct height levels for monitors etc. This desk is it. I put it together myself and it is beyond heavy! The sheer weight and size alone is impressive for the price. It isn't lightweight and flimsy. I managed to put it together in a few hours, although I should have waited for my hubby to get home to do it for me (or help!) I have to say, I love it. It was worth the pain and strain!

I looks great, is well designed and I feel organised with my daily work. It isn't the smoothest, best quality wood, but overall, its asthetics, size and functionality work for me. I had to pay a very high shipping fee. That was the only sore point about this bargain desk as I am working to a strict budget. I don't really mind though, as I am happy to shell out for my business. In the grand scheme of things, it is a great buy. I couldn't find anything in a suitable light colour, size and weight elsewhere for near the total price.

I wasn't expecting a world-class piece of funrniture, and this desk is sturdier than I thought it would be. But putting it together was a NIGHTMARE. The bolts could not be tightened with the included "wrench." I actually had to go buy a socket wrench and use pliers to tighten them. The screw holes were not pre-drilled as they should have been. I couldn't even screw in the screws with an electric driver - I had to use a hammer and nail to open the holes (causing me to at one point break through the top of the desk). When I finally did make big enough screw holes, not a single hole lined up with the frame, so I still have a few screws I had to leave out. I like the desk itself, I just wish it went together much, much easier, like it's supposed to.

Comments about On-Stage Stands SMALL WORKSTATION:

Assembly went on way too long for such a simple product. Because the directions just say "put it together". And the illustrations aren't detailed enough to know which side is left or right or what's up or down. So if you don't luck into it the first try, you have to take it apart to try again. Ridiculous.
The "wood" parts are just particle board covered with wood-grain plastic shrink stuff. Like IKEA.
BUT this stand is way sturdier than most IKEA stuff. So it's going to work well.

My wife convinced me to try this item to help make better use of the small space I have for my recording gear. This desk fits nicely in the corner of the 12X15 ft room that doubles as my home office/studio... (see attachment).. I actually thought it was going to be too big but, as usual, she was right. If you have limited space this will work great for you (it actually helped create more work surface for me) and for the price, you can't miss.

Workstation holds everything I need it to. Laptop, mouse, pad, keyboard and a array of other small things. Looks great once assembled. Only thing that couldve made it complete was to have roller legs instead of the adjustable ones that came with it. It is heavy inside the box an very sturdy. Looks bigger once assembled. In all it was a great purchase. Thanks for stocking this item, Musicians Friend!
