See other comments for my overall satisfaction. Musicians Friend's free freight deal attracted me, and the customer service/speed of delivery landed me, and the overall experience with this fine company has won me over as my "go to" place for performance gear.
Needed two boom arms for a couple of stands from an inferior product bought from another vendor that included a Shure SM 57 and cable. The Mic. was good....the accessories were junk. I decided to purchase a couple of replacement booms (make sure you know the size of the attachment thread - mine was 5/8") from Musicians Friend. Delivered product was EXACTLY what I needed, the mic stands are back in working order.

A note to the wise....if you gig a lot, spend the extra bucks and get a good quality stand. The $20 cheapies are good for the home studio where they are never moved. But after one season of light gigging (by that I mean less than 25 performances) those cheap stands are trash!
Decent, very acceptable for the price, and the main failure point (the screw tighteners for the booms) were solid and beefy. Very utilitarian.
These booms cost what the entire stand cost originally (from another web vendor, who refused to address my concerns) but NOW I have two functioning microphone stands. Thank YOU, MUSICIANS FRIEND folks.

I got those boom because of the price and good reviews. I found 3 things about it that I feel are not so good:
-the counterweight isn't a weight at all. It's not nearly heavy enough to counterbalance a shure super55. I have to tie a heavier object to the end to counterbalance the mic (I use an Atlas weighted base stand)
- the extension boom is flimsy when extended more than half way. This forces you to slide the main boom up negating any counterbalance from the supposedly "weighted" boom. The set screw doesn't keep it from spinning 100% either
-the threaded stop ring on the mic mount is too big in diameter to use with the shure super55 mic. it interferes with connecting a cable on the shure super55 because of it's unique mounting. Luckily it is removable so I swapped it with a ring from another stand

If you need a boom that can extend fully and be strong and stable with good counterbalance for a heavy mic on a round base stand; this isn't going to cut it. If you just need a half decent boom for an average weight mic not fully extended, or on a tripod base stand, then this one should do fine.

Comments about On-Stage Stands Telescoping Boom Arm:

I got tired of buying boom stands that would eventually slip, even after hurting my hands trying to tighten them enough. I play electric piano & sing, so the boom has to extend a fair amount to reach over the keys (I don't like it on the side of me), therefore, with the weight of an SM58 mic, putting stress on a boom stand. This one tightens nicely and has the extra extension close to the mic holder, which makes for quick and easy adjusting on the fly. I've only used it for two performances, but so far it seems like a good choice. Stayed in place without having to crank on it, and seemed nicely balanced.

I'm using this boom arm to hold a Shure PG81 mic to record my hi hat. The arm works great. I've had it for a couple of weeks and nothing has fallen or come undone.

Comments about On-Stage Stands Telescoping Boom Arm:

This is a reasonable quality boom. The price is very good. My only beef is that it needs more counter weight when using it on a round base mic stand. Not the end of the world. Just be aware of it.

Comments about On-Stage Stands Telescoping Boom Arm:

The boom works fine for me supporting a fairly bulky large diameter condenser microphone. However, I don't need to extend the inner rod, and wouldn't be able to anyway since I've got it mounted on a standard weighted bottom mike stand. If you're planning to use it fully extended, you'll probably need a stand with wide legs. The clutch is certainly good enough to keep the boom in place for my set-up. As another reviewer reported, the counter-weight is really not that massive so that when extending the boom, especially with a heavier mike, you may want to add more weight to avoid boom sagging.
