Good solid boom mic stands (MS7701B On-Stage Euro-Boom Stands)

I don't think Musician's Friend shows the On-Stage model number for researching, but yes, what was delivered to me were two MS7701B "Euro Boom" stands.  Popular, good quality, and a good price from our "Friends"...

The threads strip  quite easily on the big nut thingy that tightens the boom shaft onto the  base shaft. I ordered 4 of these and all four were stripped before they  even tried to get tight and it wasn't me overtightening them. I bought 5  of these On Stage Combo packs a couple years ago and all 10 of those  stands are still going strong but these new versions are not nearly as  well built or sturdy. Aside from stripping out, they just feel cheap  overall unlike the previous version.  What a  shame.

  I ordered the "Musician's Gear Tripod Mic Stand with Fixed Boom (2-Pack)" and got these instead. WOW Great deal, although I was looking foward to trying out some Musician's Gear items. I have had On Stage Mic Stands, light stands, guitar stands before and they are great for the price... They should last if they don't get mistreated or stolen at shows! Thanks MF for another sweet deal!

Well, like with cymbal stands I don't see a need to pay 60+ dollars on a mic stand.  If your really rough on your gear, or doing a lot of heavy gigging that might be one thing, but for studio work and light gigging these work fine.  I use them for my drum over heads, mic'ing guitar amps, vocals, snare drums, basically everything. I own 4 of these and none of them have given me any real problems.  They are quirky, I can tell they aren't amazing quality, but they work.
