Okay, so I read the reviews that said that they were only straight stands and couldn't figure out why they show a picture of boom stands, and even in the title call them boom stands yet sell straight stands. When they got to by house I noticed right away that they are in fact boom stands. The boom "rod", if you will, is just inside the stand. So, it can act as a straight stand. You just have to loosen the stand and pull it up. They are not the most heavy duty stands, but I like them a lot. And, two for $70.00. GREAT DEAL!

It looks like the same situation here for me...I wanted a cymbal pack and the other brand was out of stock so I ordered these.I haven't bought stands in a few years and I have in the past bought this brand but I was surprised how skinny these stand were. The stands don't retract very high and seem very thin even at the base where the double braced legs extend.I think these stands are ideal for a jazz style kit where the cymbals aren't in your face rather set down low. I was going to send them back but need stands for my vintage John Bohham frum kit and ordered two sets of these. As for quality they are stands, you set them up and they hold a cymbal. It's a shame the other brand wasn't in stock I'm going to guess they may had been a little thicker but I will never know.On the up side if your lugging stuff around the skinny stands will save your back from the lack of weight lifting them muha-ah-ha ha ha.

PDP 700 Boom Stands

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

YES! these are boom stands! the actual boom is inside of the tube at the top, and you half to pull it out, just in case you were wondering. But anyways, these cymbal stands are pretty decent. Although I've never really tried "nice" cymbal stands, these are holding up just fine for me.

Light duty stands, but not bad

By Michael beechler

from Mars

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

For the price, they aren't bad stands at all, just be aware that they aren't going to stand up to extended touring and getting beat around.
Everything clamps down fine, but then they are brand new.
I think they're fine for smaller cymbals, splashes, small crashes. A big ride or crash might make them a big unsteady. Keep them low for added stability.
Once again, they are a light duty stand, so don't expect a world tour out of them. Fine for practice kits that don't go very far.

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

I have a whole house full of toys like this but nothing built any better. The boom feature is awesome and the tilt feature lets you tip the cymbal at the correct angle.
These stands are the real deal.
If you want something really sturdy, don't look anyplace else. These stands will hold up under the pressure of rock and roll.
I couldn't believe how strong these stands are made for the money. Compared to local prices they would cost three times the money locally. I talked with the technician at Musicians Friend and he recommended them.

PDP 700 Series Boom Stands

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

Not real happy with these. I would not put anything bigger then a 10" cymbal on them.
Single pivot stand. No frills.
Very flimsy. I have some single braced stands that are 40 years old that are sturdier.
They may be worth half of what I paid in my opinion.

Not good and great for me. :/

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

I got these cymbal stands about a year to two years ago. For about a few months after getting them they were holding up well. But after that the top half part of the cymbal stands they did not hold my cymabl. I would tighten it up and it would just losen, and drop my cymbal. The base od the boom stand is good. But the other half. Not good! I would not recommend these stands for anyone. Not even if your saving money. Look for quality, not quantity. Overal, not good. ):

good right up until they failed... miserably

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

I have owned 3 of these stands as well as other products from PDP. The stands worked very well when I first got them, and they performed well for about 3 months. During these 3 months my band played about 16 gigs and I took my kit to all of them using these stands the whole time. Then while setting up for one show one of the stands legs would not tighten, the bolt was completely stripped. when I pulled it out of the stand the thread from the inside of the leg came out too, this means I could not simply use another screw to tighten it with. This went on to happen to all three of my stands and my pdp snare stand. I will continue to buy PDP drums but not their hardware, they need some serious quality checks.

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

I bought these due to price and the Pacific Drum reputation.. They are very small in diameter and the locking mechanism is very poor quality. I opened the box and called customer service for an RA number (they went back the next day).

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

These stands are light like people said but I don't find them at all not sturdy. My kit is set up on carpet and they might move half a millimeter when extended 2/3 way. They support my 18in China and my heavy Sabian B8 18in crash perfectly. I would recommend this to anyone who needs some cheaper stands.

QUESTIONS ANSWERED!!

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

some common questions you may have answered here:1. Are they really small in diameter? yes. not very thick.2. Are they sturdy? yes, and no. the tripod base isn't all that big, so in boom mode you may come across some problems, but in straight mode, you'll be fine.3. Do they wobble? yes. not much else can be said.4. is it easy to put together? YES!! it comes in 2 pieces. the tripod base, and the pole with the boom arm. it even comes with the felts and everything.5. Should i buy this? maybe. more seasoned drummers would find this stand to be really bad. because it is so small, DrummerBob is probablly really specific about his hardware, but honestly it keeps my 14 inch crash and 18 inch sizzle right where i want them with almost no trouble at all.

Decent Set of Stands

By Drummer Man

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

I had wanted the Sound Percussion set but they were out of stock. That being said, I am very pleased with this set. They are smaller diameter than my other stands but work VERY well for me. Now, a 17" cymbal will not be supported with the boom arm fully extended but it will hold a 14" to 16" cymbal with NO problem. So while it would be nice if they were a bit beefier...for the price on the pair they are working VERY well for me. Don't expect to have them fully extended and hold a huge cymbal but if you need some good support for the average size cymbal, these are a GREAT deal!

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

I love these stands. Theyre excellent for gigs. They will hold any cymbal you need but they are still nice and light weight. I wouldnt mount too much off of them and feel comfortable about it but if you just need a boom cymbal stand then these are amazing!

PDP 700 boom stands

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

I didn't expect much for the price, but these boom stands are actually pretty good. I think they were designed and intended for smaller, lightweight cymbals because they almost want to tip over when I make my cymbals scream! However, I braced them up using other components of my set, so ultimately they are doing ok.

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

I don't have any complaints yet.
I needed an extra boom stand for my Ludwig set, so I bought the PDP 700 Boom stand. These stands were way better than i expected. I have a 16in. crash/ride on this stand right now and its working great. For the amount I paid for these stands I couldn't be happier.
Better than expected.

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

Received my 2-pack today and was surprised at how light and flimsy the stands feel. I was going to use them with my main kit but decided instead to set them up as replacements for a pair of old stands on a kit my grandkids pound on when they visit. For that, I think they'll be fine. Meanwhile, I'll wait for the Other Company's 2-pack to be available again in a few months.Oh, about the seemingly straight stands. Um, guys, the booms are packed inside the upper tube. You need to pull them out and reset the angles. Then, voila! you'll have what you bought.

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

This atands were the worst purchase i made this year. They are so, so so thin that they moved every time i hite a cymbal. I was expeting better, and i will suggest to include thickness comparison in the description. i don't see a way this stand can support an 16" cymbal or bigger. I just could used them for my splashes and i bought thinking to be heavy duty and to support my 22" ride and a 18" crash.
Don't waist money on this item

Set the Stand a Certain way!

    By Juan Anthony

    from Uvalde TX

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

These stands are not ultra heavy duty. Knowing this I still bought them due to the other brand out of stock. So today I set one of my extra stands up and I have found the solution to the boom problem, yes the stands are "boom stands" they are hidden inside the pole of the stand. So here is the solution you have to set the boom over a certain leg of the stand it should look somewhat like this. "Your boom legs"( Y )set it OVER I repeat OVER the LEG bottom of the leg where the dot is( Y. ) these are great stands for their price. or just set it in straight mode either one will work.

Comments about PDP 700 Series Boom Cymbal Stand (2 Pack):

They are descent stands and fairly well built, altho somewhat light. But my main problem with this is that they are calling them "Boom" stands. They are not what you see in the picture, they are simply straight cymbal stands with swiveling mounts at the very top.I was dissapointed...

The picture was deceiving... I knew as soon as I picked up the package that I had orderd the wrong cymbal stands... These 700 series are the tiny stands buit for beginner drummers... Im a pro drummer and needed bigger, more sturdy stands... Sent these 2 back to you folks only to exchange for the Sound Percussion stands... I hope I made a better choice this second time around...
