Not as heavy duty as I hoped it might be. It doesn't compare to my Sound Percussion boom stands that I bought (and would have bought more of if MF still sold them.)For the money its not a bad stand but it is a couple notches below the strength and quality of the SP's. I ended up using this stand to hold my 20" ride because that is where it fits best in the kit. For the ride it is only boomed out just a little and it seems to work ok there. Trying to put my new 18" crash on it didn't work out because of where I place it in my kit. The boom extends farther and then the stand becomes incapable of holding it without becoming unstable. Still not a bad price though (but like I said, my SP's were bought for the same price as the PDP and are better stands.)

I was looking for a good, sturdy, stand that I didnt have to pay $75 for. Well, this seemed to fit the bill. I have other PDP stands but this is not like them. When I opened the box, I was shocked to see how small it was. The diameter of the stand is small and the height isnt all that. Its like a beginner stand you see for those Toys r Us kits. It will work for now but i will eventually sideline this thing and get something beefier.

Comments about PDP P/D 700 Boom Cymbal Stand:

I wasn't paying attention when I ordered it and for some reason thought it was a 800 series, which I have also and it is MUCH more sturdy. It is holding a cymbal and I am playing it but will probably donate it to the kid I sold my old kit to.

Good for starting out

Comments about PDP P/D 700 Boom Cymbal Stand:

Overall I think that you should probably replace the stand after you save enough money for one that is more durable. This stand is however good for beginners. A problem I had with the stand was that whenever I play gigs, if the legs don't get spread out enough, it will shake back and fourth on you.
The quality for this stand isn't horrible, but it was a lot less durable than I imagined it to be.
It does its job.

these stands are great. i dont know what the guys giving these bad reviews are talking about. i own 2 of them, one has a sabian 18 in crash on it and the other has a 18 in wuhan china on it. the stands hold up very well and barely even wobble in the slightest. cant beat the price either. great buy

You Get What You Pay For...

Comments about PDP P/D 700 Boom Cymbal Stand:

I picked up a couple of these after looking at the pictures and description. I was very surprised when they showed up. MUCH lighter weight than I had imagined. The light-weight part I like, especially when you throw a few of these in the old hardware bag. However, I am very skeptical about how long these will hold up or whethere they can simply hold anything. I just don't see these holding any large or heavy cymbals securely. I'm not some thrasher but I don't know if I can trust these at a jazz gig either - cymbals are not cheap and you don't want a stand that fails or tips. I can easily flex these in about any direction because the metal tubes and the legs are so thin (just a small step above "toy"). I would qualify these as a "student" level stand if anything. Only time will tell but my gut tells me I should have just sprung for the Yamaha stands I usually buy instead of trying to save a couple bucks.

Good Stand for the Money

Comments about PDP P/D 700 Boom Cymbal Stand:

I have three of these that I bought when I first bought my set and was a little cash poor, what with the layout of everything needed for a new set. I think at the time I paid $30 each for them. They have been champs with the packing, unpacking, setups, teardowns. We aren't kind to our hardware breaking down after a gig, are we? The only comment I would make is that they are not rock solid sturdy. In fact, my favorite comment was at a wedding a guy came up and said my ride cymbal "looks like the head on the little dog in his car window that bobs up and down". Good description. If you're cash poor, these are gonna be good stands that will not break. If you want something solid that isn't going to bounce when you're playing, spend an extra thirty or forty bucks and get the next level up.

Comments about PDP P/D 700 Boom Cymbal Stand:

This is a great stand! IT holds my 16in crash, 10in splash with Gibrlater cymbal arm, and 8in tom with tom mount. It has never fallen over, but has wobbled with all the weight on it. Just spreat the legs far out and it will be fine. This is a great stand for the money. I would definatly recommend this to a friend!
