I've been playing with this stand for a couple months now. Yeah the legs are hard to get apart. Since when does that mean give up?More so- and this is the real problem- they seem absolutely impossible to get to touch ground when you first pull it out of the box, which is why people are spewing this dis-information about intense, unplayable wobbling. Well... yeah, that would make sense, i mean if both legs are hovering an inch off the floor, how stable do you really think it's going to be? But would anyone design something like that? No, it would be a user error highly influenced by sloppy manufacturing. i'll give you guys some advice- pull my friends, pull hard- they will eventually surrender and come down to the ground. Once you've down that it is a perfectly functioning stand. Granted It still seems a bit wobbly on carpet but only if you're stomping down on the foot pedal like i tend to do and nothing, NOTHING impairing at all.to be fair i did get it when it was on sale for 20 bucks, (gotta love musicians friend, usually can't go wrong ordering here) but for 80 big ones? I'm not sure i can whole heartily recommend, seems like you could spend a bit more and get something by pearl or the likes. If it comes back down and you need something to put your hi hats on, don't even hesitate. At the price i got it for a steal would be an understatement. Here's some more advice: you might want to do some cardio. or heavy weight lifting too while you wait for shipping. Build some muscle cause trust me, finesse will not be applicable here. trust me it will seem impossible, just spray some WD and yank like you've never yanked before ;)

I took it out of the box today, I set it up after messing with the legs for a good ten minutes. The wobbling a little to intense at times, it causes a slight volume issue with the actual 'chick' of the hi-hat using the foot, I am going to work on it for a while, and if I can get a more stable hi-hat stand I will post the 'how to'. Good luck future owners...

SaWeet!!!!

I've gone through a few hi hat stands in my day, but this pdp is sick!!! Because of the excellent price i didn't think that it was gonna be that great... But I was totally wrong. It's such a solid stand. Also i love how it has velcro on the bottom to make it stay put! I'm not a huge fan of the bright colors, but it's bot that bad.. I would Definitely recommend this stand!!! Buy It!!!!! You will be soooooo happy!!!! I think you will at least...

feature-packed hi-hat stand

Having ordered the blue one (Yes the pedal is even blue not black), i must say i am impressed. I must start by confirming some other reviews posted. This stand has a swivel base for the legs which is helpful to a point. Those same legs are indeed hard to adjust so use your muscles to adjust to your liking. The foot pedal tension adjustment is superb and uses a drum key. The joint connections are pretty decent and open up a lot of possibilities for comfort levels. For any wobbling issues you read about, yes there is a tad bit (mine is on really short carpet) but it pry won't ever cause any issues even for heavy hitters. You can even have the whole thing at a bit of a tilt like the tower of Piza. As for any issues with the "weak" inner rod, I have not seen any issues with cracking or denting and i don't think it ever will - i even have the Gibraltar drop-clutch with no issues. This rod is great - it's the tall kind so you can have really tall hi-hat setups if you want. This stand from pdp is definately full size stuff and i would categorize it as heavy duty or right around that level. I can easily put my double kick slave pedal right next to it and it cleans up the look of my stands. I love this thing!

Awesome!

Have had mine for almost a month and is holding up very well. My stand is on carpet and the velcro and legs hold it up without any movement. What other people have said may just need to ajust. The blue color didn't go with my kit color but worked out. (you barley notice it) Also for the price, it's something worth buying! great for a double pedal person who needs that room.

The stand shipped to me very fast, i am pleased with what i got. My only problem is that it doesn't shorten down enough. great product though!

Awesome stand, except for one thing...

By Tory S.

from Port St Lucie, FL

this is a great stand! it has a movable base, which dosen't really need to be disclosed since moving the legs to far from the tripod-like postition will enable it to fall over. but, the legs are really hard to get fully extended. i recommend spraying some WD40 or something similar on all joints of the legs, then wipe off the excess that runs down the legs. but the stand still has a little bit of wobble. also, the thin metal pole is chipped easily by tightening the clutch.

Great deal

By Mesh head

from Mississippi

Just got my Pacific Drums by DW HH820-01B 2-leg Hi-hat Stand in. It seems sturdier and smoother than the Tama Stagemaster I've had for 20 years. I don't gig much, so long-term wear and tear from setting up and down isn't that much of an issue. Bottom line: Seriously, can you beat this deal on a new, 2-leg, double-braced stand? However, it does wobble some on thick carpet, but not enough to disrupt my playing, and the blue trim sticks out like a sore thumb.

best deal for the price

I was pretty much skeptical about buying this pdp stand cause in the picture it looks rather flimsy but when I unboxed this bad boy this thing is rock solid really really sturdy and for the price its a steal, the response is outstanding.
