I am reviewing this product based on what it is: a set of hardware for this price. I see other reviewers taking away stars or criticizing it just because the product is not as good as others that costs three or four times more. My review:
I just can't believe I got a set of hardware for this price. That fact alone is unbelievable. And then, that the hardware is of good quality and serves its purpose is just incredible. No, it does not have the PDP logo anywhere, and really, who cares? I don't think that it has to do with PDP being embarrased by this product but more to do with the fact that it is generic hardware. They are sold as a PDP product anyway.
I bought this because I was tired of packing and unpacking my hardware to use it on my practice kit, but I didn't want to spend the money in extra hardware, there was always a new cymbal or percussion effect that took priority over that. Until I found this. I got this set for my practice kit and I couldn't be happier.
The hi hat stand works well and is responsive. The snare stand keeps a steel 14'X6.5' snare sturdy and in place. The cymbal stand is thin, but it holds a 20" Sabian xs20 ride perfectly and does not wobble while riding. Since is a straight stand I don't see any issues holding bigger and heavier cymbals. The kick pedal works well, no squeaking, it is responsive and I had no problems playing fast patterns. All parts do what they are supposed to do effectively. This is a great set for a practice kit or as a backup.
I have not taken this hardware to gigs but I don't see a problem doing it if you put them in a hardware case (as one should always do with any hardware) and don't throw them around in your trunk. I wouldn't put them through daily heavy gigging though.
This is a great set of hardware that can last a long time if you take care of it.
On top of all this, you get the always superb service and free shipping from Musician's Friend, the best place to fill your

The hi hat stand is really not working well. Needs to constantly be adjusted and doesn't have a firm stand. I tipped it over and it was bend beyond repair. The drum stand needs to be frequently adjusted as well. It does the job, however. I ordered some TAMA hardware twice the price as replacement...the quality is night and day. There is hardly any tension adjustment on the hi hat stand as well. I think it is ok as a beginner's set...but if you stick to it you will need replacement a couple of months into it..

Comments about PDP Z5 Hardware Pack:

I have bought a couple sets of these for using with our Girls Rock camp. We often get donations of drums but rarely hardware, so we've needed to supplement. These are perfectly fine for that purpose. They are lightweight but sturdy. I'm not sure they would hold up to a lot of gigging and travel, but for a kit that stays home most of the time these are perfect. On sale this is the best deal I've found on hardware, and I've bought them several times now.

I purchased this hardware pack for my home studio. For the most part this will stay put and not be used on the road. But the construction seems sturdy for studio use.

Comments about PDP Z5 Hardware Pack:

I bought this to add to my practice set so I wouldn't have to bring my regular hardware to band practice or gigs. The quality exceeded my expectations, even the pedal! I would bring this hardware to a small venue, it will perform just fine. The best part was the price!! I would recommend this for anyone who needs hardware at an affordable price.

It looks good ... The quality is horrible at best ! The peddle is so bad it's not worth getting even for beginners. The stand loosens all the time. Spend a little more and buy the better set.

Comments about PDP Z5 Hardware Pack:

A decent starter set for the money. It's just of lower quality than most hardware I've used. What bothers me the most is the high hat stand. The rod is pretty thin and the spring mechanism is mediocre.

...you wouldn't want to clamp a tom holder to the cymbal stand because it's about as wide as an index finger, and you can't change the angle of the beater for the kick drum so it'll hit the top of your foot. Still well worth the price!
