Peak Co. could have made it even more compact by folding those five hinged panels completely flat. The stems could have been shorter with more stems so that the entire things could have fit into normal bags that hold sheet music to gigs and rehearsals. These are manufacture's issues. Musician's Friends needs to put all those four different models, names, numbers such as SMS-20/40 with two part stems and SMA-30/50 with three parts stems. 20 and 30 are plastic pipes and 40 and 50 are bit heavy with stainless pipes. Musician's Friend not only failed the those descriptions, but did not even describe the length or dimensions when those were folded which is the most important for the potable items. It is not even worth returning, since it was not much but felt cheated. One good thing, first when I talked to the custom service person, he tried to argue, but finally got my points. It was pleasant after a long conversation.

Comments about Peak Music Stands Portable Music Stand:

Overall, it's a good stand and works exactly as it is supposed to. I just with it was more durable.
This stand is a great concept. It folds up and fits into a portable bag for the gigging musican.
The problem is the quality. I've had this stand about two years and the center panel of the stand is now cracking. The feet on the legs cracked many months ago and the zipper on the carrying back stooped working properly months ago as well.
For the price, I suppose two years is a decent amount of time for this stand to last but I'm rating fairly low on value.

Comments about Peak Music Stands Portable Music Stand:

I purchased and used my Peak Music Stand for about a month before it cracked and finally shattered at the point where the flat portion of the stand connected to the shaft. I was left with a non-repairable stand with a large hole in the middle of the center panel of the stand. While it worked, I liked the stand very much, but it didn't seem to hold up to everyday use.

      Peak Music Stand

Comments about Peak Music Stands Portable Music Stand:

A good compromise between portability and stability. Works well, without pinching fingers. Two cautions: Don't lose the separate stiffener piece, and make sure the table is locked tight before you put your heavy music folder on it!

      Great value for the money.
I was very tired of my flimsy metal stand and decided to give this one a try. This is a great improvement! The takedown and setup are easily accomplished. Plus you get a super-nice carrying case for travel. Also, this stand accommodates a much larger music book than my last one did.

Comments about Peak Music Stands Portable Music Stand:

I bought it to replace a heavier, smaller stand. I now play standing and this stand not only is tall enough for me, but strong enough to handle my music books. The other stand would tip over and I had to put it up on a storage box to make it high enough.
It is a real bonus that it folds up nicely and has the carry bag.
It seems well made and very adjustable. It is sturdy too.
I saw that the violinist had one and I was very pleased that not only was the stand on sale, but I could use the discount code for it as well. So it was very reasonably priced for me.

      Comments about Portable Music Stand:

I needed a heavy duty travel stand that will hold my three ring binder holding 100+ pages of music, quick set up and breakdown, and adjustable tray. This one absolutely fits the bill for all my needs. Highly recommended and worth every penny.

Comments about Peak Music Stands Portable Music Stand:

The desktop was damaged in shipping making the design questionable. The desktop was cracked at the logo where the stand connects to it. The plastic used to construct the stand seems to be too weak and thin. Light weight and portability didn't result in sturdy construction for this product.

          Sturdy Stand

          By Kevin Kinneavy

          from Minneapolis

Comments about Peak Music Stands Portable Music Stand:

My son wanted this stand as a replacement for his portable folding metal stand. He loves it. It's a lot sturdier, has a bigger lip and is wider and taller than the folding metal stands. Setup is a snap, and it is easy to adjust and can be set low (short) so that it's not right in front of his face while he's playing cello. The only real downside is that when it's folded up and in the case, it's still MUCH bulkier (approx 5"x5"x26") than the folding metal stands. It is plastic, and I worry that it might not hold up in the long run, but it seems pretty sturdy.

          The best stand!

Comments about Peak Music Stands Portable Music Stand:

This is not just a great value for the money, it's a great stand. Although it has a plastic desk, it neither looks nor feels cheap. The folded size is wonderfully small, and it does not take long to set up. Also, being plastic, it is easy to bolt on extra gizmos if you are so inclined. One person I know bolted a peanut butter jar to the bottom, to hold everything in his pockets. It's light enough to be easy to carry, but heavy enough not to blow over. It has a wide footprint so even an attached accessory sheet music holder with a laptop or mixer will not tip it over.

Easy set up, easy storage and transport! Holds tab and other thick music books without a problem. Stand is very sturdy, and adjustments (wherever needed) are easy to make. If you are looking a stand that is light weight, great for home or studio use, and perfect for travel, then this is the stand for you.

Comments about Peak Music Stands Portable Music Stand:

I've had my Peak music stand for a couple of years now and it has worked well. It's made of heavy thick plastic but very durable. I actually got many nice comments about it and people are always asking me where I got it. So easy to set up and carry around in its own bag. I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking for a portable muisic stand.

I wish I had found this stand 40+ years ago! The silver metal ones can't even begin to compare with it. I like the fact that whole stand folds up and is exceptionally stable when in use. It will easily hold tri-fold sheet music as well as my music folders.

I like the portability but it only lasted a couple gigs once we loaded it down with our book of tunes. The table cracked in several places. Probably be fine for a classical player but not for a band with a lot of music.

Received the stand very timely but was very disappointed to find that the stand was busted - the shipping box was in perfect condition, so it was defective before it ever left MF. I called Customer Service and was actually asked if it was something that I wanted to keep and use "as is"... Seriously?! Yes, I guess I could have, but I didn't pay my hard earned money for a busted up music stand... I sent it back the next day, and did receive my refund quickly... I had to order the same stand from another seller that night, so I could make sure I had it when I needed it - and Musician's Friend said they were out of stock until another week or so this month... I did receive the other stand from the other seller and it was in perfect condition.

Comments about Peak Music Stands Portable Music Stand:

I basicly like this music stand. It has a wide tray and large support area. The base is very substantial and will not tip over like other portable stands. My only reservation is that when the stand is folded, the plastic parts seem vulnerable to damage even in the provided bag. I guess, I will see over time. I suspect the Desca Stand is better but also much more expensive and not available right now. So, for the money, if feel it desrves an 8/10 score.
Sturdy stand with nice wide support platform
See above... Concerned about storage vulnerability.
For the money, I think it is well worth it!!!

The portability of this stand allows me to carry all my equipemnt with one trip. I use a small amp, mic stand, guitar and the music stand, along with a heavy book of music. This stand fits my needs perfectly. Highly recommend for small gigs.
