OVERVIEW

Interchangeable cams make one pedal into many!

The Pearl P-2000C PowerShifter Eliminator Chain-Drive Pedal features an interchangeable cam system! Comes with four uniquely shaped and color-coded cams. The black cam is Pearl's original linear-feel cam. The white cam is also linear, but larger in diameter for a lighter feel and increased power. The blue is offset and starts with a light feel at the beginning of the stroke and accelerates with speed and power upon impact. The red is radically offset and provides great response for sensitive footwork and extreme power upon impact. All cams attach and detach easily at the push of a button.

I've been playing for 40 years – Speed Kings, Iron Cobras, Yamaha Direct Drive, and others (and some really bad pedals) but I've never been able to find a pedal that I don't end up fighting with. Quick patterns, though I can do them in my head and tapping my foot on the floor, were always a challenge either because the spring tension was too great and I'd barely hit the drum head, or it was too loose and would not return quickly enough to do the pattern I had in my head.

There was no way I was going to spend three-hundred plus to find a pedal that *might* work. After reading a lot of reviews and getting a great deal from MF I ordered an Elminator.

Fit and finish on the pedal are very nice (crinkle paint, brushed aluminum mostly). I really like beaters with some substance, and this beater has substance.
The pedal is as smooth as any I've owned, but the really great feature of this pedal is the replaceable cams, not because you'll (likely) be swapping them out a bunch, but you will be able to find what you like without having to get a new pedal.

The black cam is a perfect circle and with it the pedal feels like any good pedal. The white cam is a perfect circle but larger, which makes it softer/easier to play. The blue cam (which many people like best) is slightly eccentric, causing the beater to move quickly. The red cam is radically eccentric, and many reviewers I read said that it made the pedal way too sensitive for them. For me, however, it was just the ticket. I'm finally able to get my pedal to do what my brain is thinking.

Other great features include actual steel tension screws (plastic on most brands today, even on their higher end models). Three positions for the "power shifter" footplate, and three positions for the footboard angle are sufficient. Infinite adjust on this pedal is not necessary. In fact, I ended up leaving both adjustments in the middle position. When I moved them, the pedal did feel different, but I soon adjusted to the feel and it made no difference in my playing. You can tweak these other settings to taste, but the real difference is in the cam you choose.

Cons? There are only two that I can see: I wish the part of the pedal that the bass drum hoop rests on was rubber-padded (a trip to the home improvement store shuold fix that); and I wish that there was an on-board drum key holder. Beside those two minor criticisms, no complaints.

If you're in the market for your first good pedal, the Eliminator is as good as any, better than most. If you've got a good pedal, but you've never been able to get it to do what you brain is thinking, give the Eliminator a try.

Comments about Pearl P-2000C PowerShifter Eliminator Chain-Drive Pedal:

I bought 2 of single eliminator pedals ( I play 2 bass drums ), and I put the red cam on them and put the footboard all the way back, and I use the plastic side of the beater for more punch and attack, and boy do these pedals fly. These are the best pedals I have ever played and I have owned dw900's, tama iron cobras, and axis pedals, but Pearl makes the best pedals.

Comments about Pearl P-2000C PowerShifter Eliminator Chain-Drive Pedal:

I used a dw 9000 for 3 or 4 years and had a lot of personal frustrations with playability. I switched to this one and have been using it for two years. It's going strong and has stayed clean and like new thanks to the case that comes with it.
Moral of the story, some pedals are too smooth and lack feel. This has a much lower price point than the 9000 and has the feel that i needed. I could immediatley play patterns that I was struggling with previously.

Comments about Pearl P-2000C PowerShifter Eliminator Chain-Drive Pedal:

The Eliminater is one of the best pedal's ever owned, and I'm 55yrs. old. I use it at least an hour a day for the last 2yrs. I lubed it up a couple of days ago, and did'nt see any kind of wear on it at all. If you take care of it, it"ll take care of you. It's a fast and smooth, and dose'nt make ant noise at all. I also own the pearl 900 series as a back up peadal. I belive it will be many year's b-4 I'll need it. And the 900 series was set perfct out of the box. I own a set of Pearl series Vision SST all birch shell's. I did'nt buy my pedal because it was a pearl. It was word of mouth. And they were right about the pedal.

I had this pedal for 5 or 6 years and it was amazing. It was very responsive, very tweakable, and hit hard.

Unfortunately after several years, the piece connecting the chain to the beater broke when I unscrewed it. I tried calling Pearl to get replacement parts but it wasn't a piece that they sell.

I purchased my first P 2000C for my kit based on the recommendation of a friend who plays professionally. I liked it so well I bought one for our Church's kit. The versatility is the best I have found on any pedal, it's easy to set up and adjust. I have not tried all of the cams yet, because I am getting all I need out of the black and white ones. For me it "smokes" my Iron Cobra. I would recommend this pedal to anyone who has not tried one.

Comments about Pearl P-2000C PowerShifter Eliminator Chain-Drive Pedal:

I bought a set of these pedals a few years ago around the time they were first introduced. I had a set of premier pedals which when I first started out of my tama swingstar 7 piece double bass kit worked well to build up muscle memory and such. However when I got these, they opened a whole new world to speed and comfort.
The cam system is a good idea however I found that if you are playing any kind of fast double bass for long periods of time the blue cam works the best. The black and white ones are okay if you are playing a more rock alternitive style which since I play faster style wasn't for me. The red one is a extreme offset cam witch is good for intriquite foot work but in my opinion aren't the best.
Over all I would recomend this pedal for anyone who wants a fast reliable pedal.

First of all, it should be known that if you are ever in doubt about anything with your drums, go with Pearl. Now on to the pedal. It is the best pedal I have ever owned. It can be adjusted to fit the most demanding drummer. So smooth. I use the white cam. My guitarists asked if I was using a double pedal, thats how fast it can be. All around, an excellent pedal and easily beats the Tama Iron Cobra Pedal. And it comes with a case. absolutely the best pedal on the market. When in doubt, buy Pearl. Theres a reason they are the top drum company in the world. Don't hesitate, buy it now. Great Job Again Pearl!!!

This is the second pedal I've owned. The first was a bargain basement Tama that was like stepping on an old crushed tin can over and over. This pedal is so smooth, so fast and so sensitive. It's really a diffent experience altogether. I've had mine probably 2 months now and have been able to play stuff I just couldn't before (I'm still a newbie, but not a brand-newbie anymore). It's just a nice piece of hardware and I expect to have it for a long time.

I just ended my 3 month love affair with this pretty trick pedal. Out of respect, I feel I should mention its features. I upgraded to this pedal from my stock PDP400 that came with my FS Birch set. If you do the research, many awesome drummers use this pedal, and is mentioned in the same name as DW, AXIS, TAMA.It has incredible adjustability!! From the cams, grips, angles and FOOTBOARD Length (which I loved most). You can even squeeze in some heel-toe technique with practice. I just upgraded to the DW9000 (which does come with a lot of hype and double the price tag). The DW9000 is quite smooth, almost like playing on water. But it lacks the adjustability that ELIM has. I don't regret the upgrade at all, and love the DW9000...I would definitely suggest this ELIM pedal as a true upgrade and even as your True Money Pedal. All of its options give you the ability to clone any feature you like.

Got this pedal to replace my old starter pedal and boy. After adjusting this pedal, it sure flies. Smooth, fast, precise, plenty of adjustments, and the ability to fine tune the feel down to the cams! My only gripes about this pedal though is that the beater can get a bit on the heavy side if you like to play fast and that the spring tends to squeak a bit on mine, though nothing major. Hits hard, goes fast, everything you'd want in a pedal for even cheaper than another comparable pedal that costs much more!

This pedal is excellent. it took me some time to get used to but this thing is so smoothe and sooo clean. it's precision is near perfect. i'll have instances where i'll start to lose my speed, but it's just because i haven't been practicing enough or because one of my bass drums( i use a double bass) or both of them lose their 'tightness' i guess you would call it. i play alot of speed metal, black metal and death metal so i NEED to be at my top speed. you should always remember to clean and take care of these babies. after all, they'll become one with your feet the first time you use it.

I have owned top of the line Yamaha pedals for 23 years and I absolutely love Pearl's power shifter so much more. The response I get from it without a doubt allows me to play things much easier and with less effort than before--Period!!!

Comments about Pearl P-2000C PowerShifter Eliminator Chain-Drive Pedal:

I've had this pedal for a few months now, and absolutely love it. I chose this pedal for its interchangeable cams, which is a genius idea. I prefer the red and blue cams. I prefer a heavy setup, so the first few times I played my leg was sore because it was that different than my previous stock pedal. This pedal is so adjustible, I still havent found my perfect setup, but that also depends on the type of song youre playing at the time; for faster songs I set it pretty heavy with the red cam, slightly slower songs the blue, and slower the white or black. I dont get to practice as much as I would like, so I'm still working on training my foot to do everything right, and this pedal is the best way to do it.

Comments about Pearl P-2000C PowerShifter Eliminator Chain-Drive Pedal:

I have happily used the Pearl eliminator pedals for over four years now. Their adjustability fine tuning abilities have always been years ahead of the curve. Recently for my birthday I picked up a new Demon Drive Double pedal which has now become my primary bass pedal. But I was able to seperate my eliminator double into two single pedals which i now use for gajate pedals. Buy a set of these now and you will find new uses for them for the rest of your life.
