I have been playing bass for 16 years - weekly gigs plus rehearsals style rock, pop, praise & worship - and have been using these strings exclusively for about the last 5 years. Have tried others including much more expensive (Elixir Nano for example, Ernie Ball full and half-round) and these are far superior both for sound quality and playability. They have an inherently bright sound with a definite attack but when I want to tame that for a particular song I just turn the mid and high tone down and they come across very smooth and warm. With my fretted bass these strings can produce a distinctive pitch change on each fret or be very smooth depending on how much pressure I use in a slide. I haven't had that option with any other string.
Only problem is they can be hard to find in stores so I was glad to see them available at MF.

Surprised to see that Peavey has changed the design of these strings after all these years. They no longer have the fabric wrap on the ends and the tuner side is not as tapered as in the past. As a result they no longer fit inside the tuner (of my 2 Cirrus 5s) before making the right-angle bend.

I had a pair on my bass for 5 years. Never had a tone issue. I figured it was finally time to change my strings. Bought another pair.

Comments about Peavey Cirrus Stainless Steel Strings 5XL:

I really like these strings because they're about all I can get to fit my extra long scale (35") Peavey Cirrus five string. They sound great out of the box and the B string is not floppy like some sets I have had. HOWEVER, contrary to the listing, these strings are not stainless steel. Look closely at the package. They are nickel wound and thus, won't last as long as stainless steel sets.

The best strings ever. You can't go wrong with these. If you try them, you will not use anything else. These work in any environment from inside to outside venues and any music type from rock to country and everywhere in between. Do yourself and your bass a favor, try a set very soon...

Comments about Peavey Cirrus Stainless Steel Strings 5XL:

I play a Peavey bass guitar, and have tried several brands of strings. Have not been real satisfied with sound or longevity for our church praise band. Tried these strings since they are Peavey, hoping they'd be a better tone for my guitar. Thus far.... excellent! If they have life to them, my search is over.

I play a Peavey 5 active bass(older model bass). This is a powerful instrument. The Cirrus Stainless Steel Strings 5XL makes playing the bass just like new. It is light, fresh, agressive, lively, strong, consistent, and all the strings out put is balanced. These strings are a must for me.

I've been using Cirrus 5 string sets on both my older Peavey Dyna-Bass five string and the Grind passive I got last year and they sound great, last long, don't eat the frets, and I don't have to get a bank loan to purchase them...what's not to like.
