Oh my gosh! I can not believe how good this is and the "sweetened" tuning for guitar is really well, sweet sounding.
I didn't expect to be able to hear a difference since I've been using another company's high-end tuner for years (about twenty years, to be somewhat preciseuntil I dropped and broke it recently), but after tuning my main guitar with this Peterson I could not believe my ears.
I then used the Peterson to check my intonation (which I had set with a less expensive tuner) and again I was amazed at how far off I had set up the guitar using that tuner.
A good friend came over to visit and after I set the intonation and tuned his guitar, I let him persuade me to sell the StroboClip to him! Now I hafta order another one (but no problem since MF is so quick).
This machine is far more precise than the machines on my guitars. That's a good thing! But I do think I'm going to invest in some machines with a higher ratio for a couple of my guitars so I can more easily tune to this level of accuracy.
The accuracy, the sensitivity, the "sweetened" tunings ... just great.
Only had it for a few days, but I guess it's high quality.
For what you get for the money, this is a great value (assuming you like to be really in tune).

I think with a little re-engineering the StroboClip could be a fantastic tuner. In my opinion, for the money it's a bit overpriced considering the availability of so many other high quality, less expensive tuners.
Love the sweetened tunings. Really adds value to the StroboClip.
Certainly not for stage use (I don't think it would survive very long) but works well at home. As others have mentioned it's built from rather lightweight plastic so it doesn't seem like it will stand up to much accidental wear. The clip is not as strong as the clip on my Snark SN2. It does the job but does not attach very securely to the headstock. For some reason the StroboClip refuses to tune the low E. I've tried plucking with a pick to a lightly applied finger and regardless the tuner display bounces from E to B and back so quickly it is almost impossible to see if the low E is in tune. I tune the 5 higher strings with the StroboClip then tune the low E by ear from the other strings. I haven't read other folks having this problem so I don't know if I am doing something wrong or received a bad unit. No such problems with the Snark but it also does not have the flexibility of the sweetened tunings though it is faster to tune with than the StroboClip.
Seems expensive considering the feature set and quality that might stand some improvement. The sweetened tunings are really nice and that is why I still use it. I haven't used their true stroboscopic tuners but it makes me want to try them.

Comments about Peterson StroboClip SC-1 Clip-On Strobe Tuner:
Cheaper tuners, including analog needle meter types, are much quicker in practice, with better visual clarity. This unit takes time to master. I've found that I can tune by ear as quickly as I can with these clip-on units. Not sure what the strobe appeal is - - I wouldn't buy another.

Comments about Peterson StroboClip SC-1 Clip-On Strobe Tuner:
I've always been a fan of clip on tuners because of the convenience and the ability to tune in noisy environments. I had been using the Intellitouch PT10 and PT20 for a long time. While they are pretty good tuners, I quickly noticed that there was a pretty wide range of pitch, relatively speaking, that the tuner would indicate as being in tune. This is unacceptable if you ask me. Another thing that people fail to realize about those tuners is that the distance between 0 ( in tune) and +20 cents is only 3 or 4 notches in the LED display, so you could be anywhere from +1 to about +7 cents out of tune and it will read the same. Bottom line - I wanted a dead accurate tuner.
Peterson strobe tuners have always been the top of the line go-to tuner. You always find them on the benches of the best techs in the world. Their version of the clip on, the StroboClip, hold the same high standard for accurate tuning. The StroboClip is accurate within 1/10 of a cent. Now that's what I call accuracy. You can adjust relative pitch from 440 and also change key/capo compensation if needed, but the biggest feature is what they call Sweetened Tuning presets, which is basically a preset that you set to whatever instrument you're tuning in attempt to make it even more accurate. Really the only bad thing about this tuner is the price tag. Peterson has always been pricey and somewhat rightfully so, but I wish it was maybe 20% cheaper. Even so, I'm happy with paying for such an accurate tuner. If you want to be confident that you're always perfectly in tune, spend the extra money on this tuner.

Comments about Peterson StroboClip SC-1 Clip-On Strobe Tuner:
I thought I needed this tuner because of the accuracy so I bought it. I put it head-to-head with my other tuners: Boss, Snark, & Korg. Frankly it didn't perform any better than my cheap Snark tuner. While it had great specs, I'm not sure it warrants such a high price tag. Secondly, stobe tuners are a little trickier to use as you get close to the center frequency. After two days of playing with it, I understood the functions and use, but for a six string player an inexpensive chromatic tuner did exactly the same thing. Go with the Snark and save yourself some money.

Comments about Peterson StroboClip SC-1 Clip-On Strobe Tuner:
This is my 5th tuner, and 3rd clip on model, wish I had found this first! Each one gets easier and better but I find it hard to believe that process will continue now that I found this model! I do a lot of 12 string work, and one guitar in particular I was never very happy with the sound. I used the 2 step 12 string, one for upper and the other for standard strings. It was like getting a new guitar! And open tunings on the 12 string for playing Kottke material, it has no equal. The instrument sounds pure as it can. I can strongly recommend this tuner, it works better than any clip on I've tried.

I like most players have a half doz tuners, could have saved big by buying this Peterson first instead of last. The only better tuner I have is a Peterson VS-1.

Comments about Peterson StroboClip SC-1 Clip-On Strobe Tuner:
I bought this for the added accuracy of a true strobe tuner for the mandolin. The tuner is too slow to pick up the frequency of a mandolin and is very hard to tune on stage. Even with the mandolin sweetened setting and sustain feature it does not want to pick up the frequency on some strings. It works ok on my bouzouki and guitars which have much more sustain and is more precise than a ROM or Intellitouch but if I am trying to get a quick tuning on stage between songs this is not the right tuner. It also seems to be lightly built and may be weak at the pivot point.

Comments about Peterson StroboClip SC-1 Clip-On Strobe Tuner:
I will keep this short. The stroboclip is a very responsive tuner. If it seated properly it will work perfectly. I keep it in sustain mode and am able to intonate all my instruments to 1/100th of a cent. Pretty darn good.

Comments about Peterson StroboClip SC-1 Clip-On Strobe Tuner:
I bought two and they worked at first. Both batteries died WAY TOO quickly and I replaced them with the EXACT batteries specified in the manual. Immediately both units began to function incorrectly. Very difficult to turn on and off (they randomly came on and off). Very difficult to keep on when using (again, they randomly turned on and off while tuning). They began to turn on in my guitar case when not in use and the batteries (expensive) died completely in less than 2 days. If one malfunctioned I would have sent it back. Both of them malfunctioned in the same manner and they are not worth the incredibly high price. I play professionally and need something that I can depend on! These I cannot.

Comments about Peterson StroboClip SC-1 Clip-On Strobe Tuner:
I've used this on guitar, bass, and my new Yamaha Guitalele. It will tune anything you have in your arsenal. Tuning is so precise it's amazing. I don't use the sweetened tuning option because I know what key I'm looking for. Just take it out of the box, install the battery, and go. Couldn't be easier! Quality seems OK but it's probably a good idea to be careful with it. It looks easy to damage if you get it a bind somehow. It should last a long time and best of all, you WILL be in perfect tune all the time.
