OVERVIEW

Accurate tuning with a screen you can see virtually anywhere!

The Peterson Stomp Classic Strobotuner is a pedal tuner that combines the timeless 'mojo' of the legendary Conn ST-11 Strobotuner with the most desired features in a pedal tuner to date!

Peterson didn't stop there as they also added many exclusive features into the Stomp Classic, such as Peterson's pioneering true-bypass circuitry, a host of new Sweetened Tunings that include support for 7-string guitars, electric violin, and mandolin-family instruments, along with their renowned built-in, fully adjustable, active DI.

Unparalleled note detection and a high-definition, realtime strobe display resolution of 0.1 cent combined with a host of presets allowing for each instrument's individual idiosyncrasies (including string deflection, interval spacing, harmonic nature and range) place the Stomp Classic in the top of its class.

An extremely bright, high-contrast LCD display makes the Stomp Classic an excellent choice for use outdoors or wherever lighting conditions are less than optimal. Integrated pedal board mounting lugs keep the Stomp Classic in place on the road and while in use.

The Stomp Classic is built to last and capable of taking the most grueling punishment while protecting your cables with the included cable guard. We have designed this to be the most roadworthy tuner you can place on your pedal board.

The Stomp Classic's look pays homage to the most iconic tuner of the 1970s, the ST-11 Strobotuner - still used then and now on the stages of some of the most exalted of rock gods!

I've had 'em all...Peterson SAM, Strobostomp Classic and II (also great except for direct sunlight), Boss, TC Electronc Polytune (great concept but needs work), and TurboTuner...this one beats them all. Tough, super accurate, and locks in REALLY quickly. Many other tuners have trouble "making up their mind" if you are in tune or not, which wastes alot of time in between tunes...this one is the fastest and most accurate by far. Anybody wanna buy a couple TC Polytunes??

As said, the best by far and I've had 'em all...
Pricey but worth it, all three of my boards are getting them.

So I have used them all:Boss, Korg, TurboTuner (TT), Snark, etc. I have used a TurboTuner stomp for the past 8 yrs, but decided to try the Peterson. Well, it does work, but the display is way to laggy and its hard to tell when you are way off tune vs. just a tad...this is very unlike my TT which spins faster the more off you are and is very easy to read, fast to react and small...the Strobo is a beast. But I gave it a fair trial, over 6 months on my board. I am a semi-pro & gig 1-2 times a month. Very serious about my music. Well, just could not deal with the slow response and the lack of the rotation of the screen display to be proportional to the degree of error. So, today I took it off my board, put my old TT back on. And believe me I was greatly relieved and pleased. I know lots of folks like the strobostomp, but I just do not like it that much. My overwhelming response to the strobo was irritation. Fine for setup, but that is not what i bought it for. Need a real accurate quick responding easy to read gig tuner. The strobo is not it for me. And way expensive too!

Comments about Peterson VSS-C Stomp Classic Strobotuner Pedal Tuner:

This is absolutely must have gear. No other tuner will do after trying a Peterson Tuner. You will never realize how far from being in tune you were until you tune with a Peterson. Worth a little extra over the cost of other tuners. Get it.

Comments about Peterson VSS-C Stomp Classic Strobotuner Pedal Tuner:

Exactly 62 days after purchasing this product it would not power up. I called Peterson and they sent me a prepaid UPS sticker. I sent it back and they returned it with a repaired C100 power module. Now it powered up but the input no longer worked!! I called again and they sent me a "new" (read reconditioned) unit and asked me to return my old one. The new unit lasted a week and the screen started to go nuts like it needed a new battery so I put one in and two days later the screen is no longer functioning. I applaud Peterson for their excellent customer service but I can't recommend this product.

Comments about Peterson VSS-C Stomp Classic Strobotuner Pedal Tuner:

I was so sick of my Boss Tu-3 tuner. Never giving me enough fine tuning. This one, THIS ONE, gives me the best tuning in the WORLD. It stays on, lets the strings play and decay, and it is so correct, so accurate, that I can't live without it. When you tune to this tuner all of your chords are correct. You still have to adjust for attack versus decay, but this one gives you the finest of fine tuning. It stays on while your notes decay into silence. It stays with you and never goes off. I've never tuned so true. Worth every penny.

      Stomp Classic Stobotuner Pedal Tuner

Comments about Peterson VSS-C Stomp Classic Strobotuner Pedal Tuner:

There is nothing about this tuner that I find inadaquate, its by far the best thing out there on the market today, IMHO. Peterson has gone the extra mile in its construction and in its features. I don't believe you will be dissatisfied.
I've used every tuner known to man, PLUS I have a Peterson Flip-Top strobe tuner but this one beats them all. Super accurate, made like a Sherman tank, really "holds" the note a long time - - that's been a pet peeve of mine in the past - - I couldn't find a tuner that would hold the notes long enough to tell if they are really in tune. (now the Peterson Flip-Top will do this also but I don't guess they make this anymore (?) ) Plus, the Flip-Top is not as sturdy as this "Stomp Clasic". I even tried the Peterson "Clip-On" model but its really flimsy and wouldn't hold a long note. This Stomp Classic is NOT cheap but as the old saying goes, a lot of the time "you get what you pay for"! Everything worked on mine, right out of the box. I highly recommend this tuner - - its a hefty unit and will take a lot of hard use, whether in the living room or out on the road! I've done a lot of both in about 50 years of playing guitar.
Its put together for rugged use! Plus, it doesn't move around on the floor, whether its in a pedalboard arrangement or used independently....it stays put!
Well, the only reason I give it a 9 instead of a 10 is that it AIN'T CHEAP but its probably worth the money, it will probably be the last tuner you will ever have to buy.

      Best pedal I've ever owned

      By MyBalls

      from VA

Comments about Peterson VSS-C Stomp Classic Strobotuner Pedal Tuner:

I bought this tuner because my other tuners were lacking in different areas. One tuner kept resetting the pitch to something other than A440 and the others were just not accurate enough as I would have to retune by ear after using them. It was a toss up between this and the Turbo Tuner ST 200. Which by the way is not sold here or at any big box music stores. I went with the Stomp Classic because of its high defenition screen that is capable of displaying the level of accuracy that is advertised. I will say that this is a "stobe-style" tuner. It is not a true strobe but I'm sure most of you are aware of this. I have used (not owned) Korg Pitchblack and TC Electronic Poly Tune and have to say that I would choose this one over the other two. This tuner seemed more responsive and of course the display is much more high def. The Korg and TC have only a handful of LEDs to display the tuning. The Stomp has more than I could count (though it is LCD i believe not LED). When I hold a note, it will quickly follow the note as I bend or vibrato to give you an idea of its responsiveness. I dont need any of the other features and I havn't used them. I simply use it's silent tuning function to A440. It does not introduce any hum or noise that I have encountered with other amps, even with a loud 100 watt Marshall Super Lead Plexi. Also, there is no audible pop or click when actuating the tuner. The screen is bright and easy to read on the floor. The symbol indicating a flat or sharp is rather small, though I dont see why this would be an issue unless your guitar drifts a whole half step out of tune which it shouldn't. On the surface level (I can't speak for the inside) everything seems to be made of metal and rubber. The only plastic I can find is the 9VDC jack which is recessed inside the pedal a little so it is not vulnerable and also on the battery housing that is hidden under the footswitch itself. Many parts of this pedal are made of metal where most would use plastic. I have not owned or used this pedal for an extensive amount of time so I can not attest to its durability, though it seems very sturdy and I have no doubt that it will hold up. Its heavy and bulky, though I dont have a problem with that. I carry around a full stack, a Roland RE-201 Space Echo, and two Strats so I dont think a bulky pedal is going to weigh me down anymore. I would give a 5 if it wasn't so expensive. If I was given the chance to improve on this pedal, I would request that Peterson make a bare bones version of this pedal without the DI to cut down on cost and maybe use the extra space for a slightly bigger screen.

Was recommended to me by Adam Rafferty.... one of my guitar 'heroes'. I used the Peterson 'Sweetened' Tuning s on my acoustics and believe it really did sound better than when tuned with my 'el cheapo' tuner. It's a bit pricey... but it you are a serious guitar player or professional.... it's a must have... IMO.

I know it costs more than just about any other tuner you see but if you play guitar you need to get one of these. I felt like I was playing a guitar in tune for the first time in my life after using it the first time. (And I've been playing for more years than I'd like to admit.)

As others have said built like a tank etc. etc. but the bottom line is it's more accurate than any other tuner I've ever used and makes a guitar sing. Pricey? Yes, compared to other tuners, but worth every penny. Run, don't walk and go get one of these.
