One of the first polymers ever created, cellulose nitrate is made by reacting cotton fibers with nitric acid. Celluloid was substituted for natural tortoise shell picks in the early 1900s and is still one of the most popular guitar pick materials available today.

    Good picks, slack tolerance in manufacturing

    Good picks overall, but low manufacturing tolerance results in a grab bag of different thicknesses and flexibilities than make you have to test each one for the feel you're looking for instead of trusting all 10.
    They're good picks. A bit more slippery than I would have hoped, but work well and sound nice on Elixir acoustic strings.
    I bought this 10-pack of lights, and though they all say 50mm on them, the thickness and flexibility varies like CRAZY from pick to pick. It's almost like I got an assortment of lights and mediums. They're terribly inconsistent.

    I recently started using the Planet Waves celluloid picks, and the mediums, and thins, are great for playing tremolos, chords, and lead lines. The edges have a slight taper to them which makes them easy to play with, and produces a great tone. I aslo purchased them in heavy, and they work similarly well on the electric bass.

    Best celluloid pick!

    Comments about Planet Waves 10 Standard Celluloid Picks:

    I find celluloid picks to be the most playable of any pick type, and to create the purest tone, whether on an accoustic or an electric; and the Planet Waves celluloids are my favorite. I like the heavy's for lead playing, and lean towards the mediums for rhythm. They have a slight tapered edge, but not too much so - and thus they are especially easy to play, and do not create a disturbing resonant twang that picks with simply a rounded edge can sometimes do. They are a joy to play, more so than even the ever popular Fender celluloids. They are similar to the Panet Waves Joe Satriani signature pick, but without the drawings on the back and in different colors (I wish they came in "shell" color, but black does fine) - and they really do help create a smoothe (Satriani-like)sound in my playing. Buy these and you won't be disappointed!
