My Made In Mexico Strat never stayed in tune for even a song or two no matter how gently I played. I tried adding springs to the trem to make it down-only instead of floating, but this only improved things moderately. These Planet Waves tuners did the trick instantly. It's almost like having a Floyd Rose Speedloader for $**. Now I beat my strat like it owes me money and it stays in tune for days at a time. The improvement in tuning stability has been more than I had hoped for and the speed and ease with which I can change strings is equally remarkable. Installation was easy, though I found drilling pilot holes in the peghead for the screws a little intimidating. I suggest buying a high-quality gold-plated bit and using a center-punch to make a dent in the wood to stabilize the bit each time, as I did. I cannot recommend these tuners highly enough. They're fantastic. I've never written a product review before, but I feel so strongly about these tuners that I wanted to let other guitarists know about them.

I have used these tuners for years, and they do work well, and hold tune very well "only" after being "extremely" careful when stretching the strings during tuning. After getting the strings locked in, cut off and initially in tune, if you remotely try to stretch/bend the strings and then retune unless you hold the string around the 1st fret to help secure the string, it pops out "every" time. I just used the old hold it at the first fret all these years, but now I'm getting very aggrevated that I am ruining strings because they keep popping out and are useless when they are brand new strings. Sure they hold tune outstandingly after all the strings are all stretched out but getting to that point is about pointless with these things. Cheap stock tuners off a $100 guitar at least hold the strings while bending/stretching and if your gotta tune between songs, then tune between songs. It's easier than breaking the strings before they ever get in tune.

the self cutting on the 6th string or .046 regular I use wire cutters because I know how much my old tuners take to break and as I tried to cut with the built in cutting I felt I was reaching that limit of breaking so I stopped.

I recieved my tuners today in gold and black took me 20 mins to install and work perfect knock on wood I did not have the problems as some other people had with the e and b string not holding there holding tight and tune real easy l will be ordering 2 more sets for my other guitars good job planet wave

I installed these tuners on my telecaster kit because the Gotoh tuners were cheap. I decided on these tuners as they are locking and also cut the string as you tighten up the string. Everything worked great on low E, A, D, and G strings But when I tried to string the B and High E string they would cut off ok but as soon as it cut the string would slip out of the tuner "Whang!" as it pulled out of the tuner. I tried three more strings, E and B, and the same thing happend. The strings are Fender 10 thru 48 gauge.Well, I re-installed the Gotoh tuners for the E and B strings to get the guitar playing again.Emailed Planet waves about the problem and have not heard back from them as of yet. This would be a very good product if the E and A strings would not slip out of the tuner. Don't know if I am going to trust them anymore.Just think, if you broke a string while on the bandstand you could replace it in 30 seconds with these tuners if they would work right.Rick

I bought my first set 3 years ago and once I figured out how they work and how well they work, I bought two more sets. I am building a Warmoth Strat and will definitely be using these tuners. They are built heavy, the pegs are tight and smooth. The trimmer is ingenious, hell invaluable.I hope all the "Bad" ones have been removed from stock. I highly recommend these to any and all.

I purchased these for my Parker PM-36. The install was easy. I did have a few issues though. I lost 4 B strings and 2 E strings.I contracted Planet Waves and the said the posts were out of spec, so they're sending 2 that should be longer and not cause string slippage.The guitar stays in tune, makes changing strings a breeze.Highly recommended.Planet Waves was very responsive. They shipped the replacement parts the day after I contacted them!

I put the auto-trims on my Fender Strat. Unfortunately the upper two strings slip although I turned the thumb screw very tightly. I can't even put them on, they just slip out of the hole. These tuning machines just don't work on the upper strings.

I got these from MF and had the same problem others reported. The E and B strings would not clamp. I called, they gladly sent another set, same problem. This time I called the support # on planet waves website. The rep told me they had bad tolerances on some of the sets that went out. He took my address and sent me two new locks. These work just fine (I use .009 gauge strings). I suggest anyone that buys these to mount them, then pull the strings through but leave plenty of slack. Lock them down short of where you normally would and pull on them, if the string slips you need to call them if not you're good. Once I got the right clamps they work great. They fit perfectly on my '78 Ibanez ST300 and they make it look new. I love the black posts.
