Comments about Planet Waves Dare Guitar Strap:

This strap has worked well for me for at least 5 years now. It does what it is supposed to do, distributing the guitar's weight across both shoulders. A softer material, such as leather, might be more comfortable. I know there is a leather version being marketed now, but it is very pricey.

The guitar's position does shift to the right with this strap (I play right handed), but I have gotten used to this and make adjustments as necessary.

This strap has saved me on long gigs from shoulder pain.

        buy it

        By guitar solo

Comments about Planet Waves Dare Guitar Strap:

i bought this and the other adjustable strap (the slider.) don't bother with the slider. this, on the other hand is the best fifteen dollars i've spent in years. it has multiple adjustments and not only does it do what it says, you can adjust your guitar the that perfect angle you've always wished for. it will actually make you play better. i can reach certain scales with so much more ease and comfort. buy it, you won't regret it.

        Dare strap is lame

        By Anonymous

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Planet Waves Dare Guitar Strap:

I have an artificial disc in my neck and I need two more. Anything that would transfer load to the right shoulder is a big deal for me. In every case when I adjusted this strap so that some weight was on the right shoulder then the guitar was pulled to far back toward my left hip. And even if I was willing to compromise on the guitar position (Which I am not) most of the weight is still on the left side regardless of any attempts to adjust the strap otherwise.

you do not need this strap

        By baseculture

Comments about Planet Waves Dare Guitar Strap:

If you own any of the other planet wave nylon straps, guess what? You can do this already! Shorten your strap so that your loop is big enough to stick your head through. Make sure the loop you stick your head through is large enough so you don't choke. I have been doing this for the past 5 years. You do not need this strap.

Does not Relieve Shoulder - Not Recommended

        By Sore Shoulder

        from new yark

Comments about Planet Waves Dare Guitar Strap:

I bought this despite reading the other reviews. It is turning out to be a waste of money.I have a shoulder injury and was hopeful that this strap might relieve that shoulder by spreading the guitar's weight to both shoulders.Using this strap for the last 2 hours, I find that my back is very tired. My left shoulder remained burdened by most of the guitar load. Also, I can't comfortably hold the guitar as I am used to.The fabric used is very sharp on the edges and it would cut into your neck, as suggested by the other reviewers.

        Wear a turtle neck!

        By splitmeoffsome

        from Seattle, WA

Comments about Planet Waves Dare Guitar Strap:

Very rough. Irritates my neck too much. I just wear t-shirts, so.... Wear a hoodie you might be alright, because it does distribute the weight nicely. That is once you get the straps properly adjusted, and if you haven't decapitated your self! Haha :)

        Barely useful

Comments about Planet Waves Dare Guitar Strap:

Standard guitar straps aggrevate my thorasic outlet syndrome, so a strap like this is a necessity if I want to play for any length of time. The problem that was most immediately apparent after receiving this in the mail is that the strap holes are waaaay too tight to be used as is. I had to cut the holes open a little just to get it on the strap pegs. If that were it, though, I'd still be a happy customer. It seems that Planet Waves skimped on the button holding the two shoulder straps together. It snaps apart very easily and it requires some duct tape to make it useable. For what it's worth, the thing is damn comfortable. I will be gettings some pads for the soulders, as the material cuts into the neck more than most other straps, but the difference the weight distrobution makes is remarkable. For those of us with back injuries, and those smart enough to want to avoid them, there are few options. For now, this will do, but let's hope more and better products present themselves soon.
