This little stand works as promised. It can be folded flat so it is fairly portable. It is made of plastic, but reasonably strong to withstand the weight of a guitar. If one uses it with care I even think longevity may not be an issue either. I must add at the end that I use this with classical guitars. If you are considering it for an electric guitar with no resonance chamber, your guitar may not sit flat on work surface as the stand lifts it up at the neck.

The main problem with this product is the jaws don't extend far enough. You have to yank on it to the point where you fell it may become damaged to get them to fully extend and stay. Heavier guitar works better than acoustic. Look this item is fine - you get what you pay for and it does in fact hold the neck. Problem is overall lack of stability so be careful the first few times you use it to get a feel for its limitations. Abstain from overly vigourous peg winding.

Comments about Planet Waves Headstand Instrument Workbench Stand:

I bought it with a Planet Waves headstand for the perfect workspace area for my guitars. The combination is cheaper than the Fender work station. Plus, you're not stuck with a non-moving headstand. You can position your guitar in any position that's comfortable for the job you're trying to do.

Small and compact, looks like it will do the job

              By S-man the bassman

              from Alameda, CA

Comments about Planet Waves Headstand Instrument Workbench Stand:

Some have said that this product is too lightweight, plastic, etc. However, to me it seems strong and secure enough to do the job it's intended to. Prior to having this item I used to prop my bass neck up on a stack of towels, pillows, etc. Invariably things would shift and the bass would start to fall off, or sink down too low. It just wasn't working. There's no substitute for simple, secure stand that will hold the head and neck up while you work on the bass, and not be so big and bulky (like pillows or towels) that it gets in the way of your work.
Small and compact, I keep it with my string winder tool, ready for my frequent string changes, or for removals for pickup replacements, etc.
Pretty light, but seems strong enough for simply holding the bass head up while working on it.
              Good value for money.

Does what you need it to do

              By jckforn6

              from New York City

Comments about Planet Waves Headstand Instrument Workbench Stand:

Yes this is plastic, and yes, it doesn't feel steady when you just hold it in your hand, but it works. When the weight of the guitar is in the notch, the forces exerting on the legs and joints steady the stand and the result is a stable, hands-free lift of the guitar. I used this today to change the strings on my Taylor acoustic and my Les Paul, and it worked great. Two tricks- I used a non-slip yoga mat on the table to provide a soft and tacky surface for the guitar and the stand, and that worked great. As I unwound, wound and restrung both guitars, the stand did a great job of holding the guitar steady. I don't see why this would be any different if I were using it at a gig or studio, it worked.

              not great at all...

Comments about Planet Waves Headstand Instrument Workbench Stand:

I bought one of these at a guitar center near me. It wouldn't even hold up the guitar I had when I used it to change the strings. It's a piece of garbage. You would be better off just holding the guitar in your lap when you need to fix it.

This is a necessary tool, it's seems pretty weak and wobbly but once you extend it and use it it's very solid. Works great overall.

              Neat!

Comments about Planet Waves Headstand Instrument Workbench Stand:

This thing is very handy, although, I thought it would be a lot bigger, it's actually 6 1/2 inches long. The whole thing is made out of plastic, so it might break if you're not careful with it. The three legs can fold up so it can fit safely in your pocket if you plan to take it somewhere. I have an explorer, so I had trouble balancing my guitar out on the bottom, and I had to use a cd holder to balance it out, so keep that in mind if you plan on buying this, you know, if your guitar will be balanced evenly on both sides, neck and body. That's about it, I suggest this to anyone who has tried to change their strings while fumbling the guitar around in their lap, this makes things a lot easier!
