I haven't found a capo yet that doesn't affect tuning in some way but the Planet Waves capo is the best of the ones I've tried. My Kyser capo definitely raises the pitch on my strings a fair amount. I also have a Shubb capo that raises the pitch as well, but not as much. I find that the Planet Waves capo raises the pitch on my strings the least of all, and sometimes not at all. For practice purposes then, I find I don't need to retune my guitar with the Planet Waves capo because it is "close enough" as far as I am concerned. It's easier to use than the Shubb and more compact than the Kyser which tends to stand out too much for me when it's on the guitar neck. There is one more brand of capo I might try in the future but for now Planet Waves is my first choice.

I am highly satisfied with this purchase, and have already recommended it to friends. I recommend it to anyone looking for a quality capo that won't get in the way.

The only other thing I need to state is that when you are not using this capo, you have to take it off and put it somewhere. With a spring loaded capo, I would clip it on the head of the guitar, in case I needed to used it again. I suppose you could find a way to make this one work in a similar fashion, but it would take longer to put it on and take it off, then adjust more to get it to fit over the neck again.
The thumb screw used to tighten this capo, combined with the very fine threads, make for a pleasant experience when screwing it into place, and allow for very precise control of the tension on the strings. The bar covering the strings is just a bit longer than the fret board on my guitar, which means that it doesn't get in the way as much as all of the spring-loaded capos I have used in the past, especially when playing a B7, or any other chord which requires all fingers. The padding on the inside of the capo is soft enough not to damage the finish on any part of the guitar's neck, yet firm enough not to allow fret buzz.

I gave it a 9 only because I couldn't choose a different size that was just a cm or so shorter, to avoid getting in the way completely. Otherwise, this is the best capo I have ever owned.
I haven't owned this capo for very long, so I don't know what the durability or life expectency is, but the construction and selection of materials is high quality. I don't expect to have any problems with it any time in the near future.
A really great product for the low price.

Comments about Planet Waves NS Aluminum Screw Type Capo:

I used to only use Schubb's capo's until I tried one of these. Works very well, and very accurate adjustment. Made from what seems to be high grade aluminum. My guitars seem to be in tune better using this capo.

Comments about Planet Waves NS Aluminum Screw Type Capo:

Over the past 12 years I have used on stage the Kyser, Dunlop Trigger, Page, and this Planet Waves Capo. The Kyser is by far the quickest but hinders chording and breaks frequently. The Dunlop Trigger is awkward for me and the Page is slow and sometimes awkward. The Planet Waves is a quick, one-handed capo that allows for the pressure adjustment that I like. However, it is a little long for me. I seldom place the Capo above the 5th Fret and at that point the end of the capo extends an eighth of an inch or more beyond the neck which gets in the way of chording. I simply took a utility knife and cut the rubber even with the neck at the fifth fret and used a hacksaw and file to cut the aluminum flush to the neck and file it down smooth with a slight bevel on top that allows for unhindered playing. It has become my favorite capo and I believe you will love it as well. I like it so much that I just bought a second to use as my backup.

The best capo I've ever owned. It's true that the tuning is basically unaffected. The screw adjustment allows for just the right amount of tightening.

Comments about Planet Waves NS Aluminum Screw Type Capo:

Hands down the best capo I've ever owned. The spring loaded capos I've used in the past always applied too much pressure and made the guitar go out of tune (especially if you have an electric guitar with jumbo frets). The Planet Waves capo allows you to dial in just the right amount of pressure for the capo to do its job without making the strings go out of tune. I used to dread using a capo live because of tuning stability issues but not anymore. Kudos to Planet Waves for making a great product that has truly enhanced my playing experience.

I've tried a bunch of different capos, and this is about the best out there IMHO... the knob lets you easily dial in just enough tension so the strings don't buzz, but not too much which makes them go all sharp and out of tune. You'll still need to retune if you are playing with other instruments, but if you are a solo acoustic performer you can get away with just slapping it on and running with it. Works great for all the Keef-style open tuning stuff on the tele I'm playing in my Stones cover band!!

This is a light weight, easy to use, attractive, well-priced capo. Its only flaw is the short clamping leg, that doesn't let you place the capo off center to not clamp the 6th string, for dropped tunings. I file about 3/16" off the end of the top bar, but the clamping leg still only barely reaches the center of the back of neck... marginally stable. If NS lengthened the clamping bar 1/2", they'd have a perfect capo.

After buying one of these babies for myself and loving the flexibility it gives me when playing music with friends, I have bought 3 as gifts. It's especially great for beginners, because it transforms the 3 or 4 chords they know into so many more, which is a great encouragement to keep playing! Highly recommended, great quality product at a low price.
