I play a Breedlove Atlas Series (jumbo body with maple back and sides) and I have always loved the sound of the guitar, but I have sometimes wished that I could lose some of the boomy bass. I bought the O-Port after seeing the display at a local music store. I installed it in my guitar and I am very impressed with the results. I see that a lot of other people have used words like "clarifies the sound" and "focuses the sound", and that is about right. With the O-Port installed, the sometimes intrusively boomy bass is tamed - especially plugged in. I also noticed that my acoustic volume seems to have increased, though some reviewers here have said they can't tell a difference in volume. My brother in law also has a Breedlove Atlas (dreadnaught with rosewood back and sides), and we play together when we get the chance. When I pulled out my guitar and hit two chords this weekend, he immediately noticed a difference in my volume and overall sound. I think that if you have a really nice guitar like an expensive Gibson, Martin, or Taylor you won't hear any difference in the sound. With the less expensive guitars, however, I am convinced that the O-Port makes a very noticeable improvement in the sound of an acoustic / acoustic-electric guitar. I think it's well worth the money, and I am going to pick one up for my Sigma-Martin that I've had since 1983 as well as my acoustic bass. Awesome Invention!!!
Not many features...it seems to hold its shape (round), and the lip that goes around the outside of the soundhole is sturdy.
I don't think I will see it destroyed in my lifetime unless the plastic gets brittle with age.
I think for what the O-Port did for my guitar it is an excellent value.

OK,let's me tell you how this works. The o-port reduces or eliminates some vibrations at certain frequency. As the result, (1) the volume becomes smaller significantly; (2) the bass becomes less boomy; (3) the clarity of the sound might be enhanced because some onvertones are gone, but I can't tell; (4) you can play harder to produce louder sound because the sound now is more "clear".
Now you know, it doesn't make the sound louder. It just makes it possible to play louder sound without noisy overtones. If you read the manual or description of the product carefully, you'll find that they never say it for sure that the volume will be enhanced by the o-port.
I installed and removed it. The hard plastic o-port caused paint around the soundhole peeled off a little. If you install and remove many times, you'll eventually see the permanent damage to the paint of your guitar. The o-port is not made of soft rubber. It's made of hard plastic.
Think twice before you buy. You'll spend more on the return shipping.

Comments about Planet Waves O - Port:
I got an O-Port because my acoustic bass guitar was feeding back, and it has greatly reduced feedback. Our sound guy gave it the thumbs-up. Easy to install, and it keeps the sound hole open. It's a keeper.

Comments about Planet Waves O - Port:
This is not for every guitar and doesn't produce a miracle in most cases. It does reduce feedback when your guitar is plugged - not a miracle but a BIG DEAL ! I put it on my cheap AC10 Esp and it makes it sound great. On the Martin D35 it didn't do as well as it sounds great at all times. Want to reduce feedback - get one - want to take the harshness out of a price point acoustic - GET IT - want to put one on a good Taylor or Martin - Shame on you ! LOL

Comments about Planet Waves O - Port:
The only reason I am giving this 4 stars is because part of the advertising is inaccurate as far as changing the unapmlified sound. I know the O-port sounds like snake oil but I have one in my Martin dc-16 ogte. It didn't make any miraculous changes in sound, nut when plugged in it cut feedback like nobody's business. I reaaly appreciate this. It cut the feedback with out having to put one of those stupid black plugs over the soundhole. It's still a functional guitar whether your plugged in or not. It's a feedback plug you can leave in all the time without affecting sound and it's hardly noticable. It just shows a thin black or white, depending on the color you choose, line around the sound hole.

Comments about Planet Waves O - Port:
I was surprised as too how well this works. Most after market add on make little or no difference, not so with the O- Port, it live up to it's claims. It projects sound well and dramatilly reduces feedback while allowing you to increase volume which is important for playing live. The best part of it all is that it doesn't color your sound. This is the best add on for an acoustic guitar. I'm now using it in the sound hole of my Martin DCX1E.

My review of the Planet Waves O-Port sound enhancer
I installed an O-Port enhancer in my Tacoma JR55 jumbo six-string guitar, and was so impressed with the sound improvement that I immediately ordered three more for all my other guitars: a Larrivee D03-R dreadnaught, Yamaha LL16-12 professional 12 string, and my Yamaha FG720S-12 12 string. If I had more guitars, I would install it on them also! Note that these instruments represent the high end of the guitar market down to the lower end and all were improved in tone. This device is remarkable in giving you improved sound at minimal cost, with the freedom to remove it if desired. At such a low price, this is a good way to enhance the sound of your instrument. Hint: For standard sized guitars, buy the large size, in black color. This darkness of the sound hole will go along with the black color, to minimize the appearance of this device.

Comments about Planet Waves O - Port:
It does exactly what it says it will do. I have a Washburn D10S, and the sound hole drastically improved the sustain and "bassiness" of my Low E string.
Comments about Planet Waves O - Port:
I put the O-Port in a Martin LXM with all HPL construction, and I really think the guitar sounds similar to others that would have set me back at least $100 - $200 more. This may be a little strange to say, but the tone sounds somewhat compressed (which is a plus in my opinion).. it seems to add a mid-range spike and kind of tone down the boomy bass end. I would definitely recommend this as an upgrade option.
Well, it's round... The neck joint is pretty much flush with the sound hole on my guitar, so I did need to "modify" the O-Port by trimming a bit of material away just below the gap in the mounting rim. That entire process was extremely simple, and I don't think it should detract from my review since that was a factor of instrument construction and not a fault in the O-Port's design.
It's made of a fairly pliable plastic, so my primary concern during installation was potentially damaging it by bending it around too much. Similar to what I stated in the 'features' section, the material is extremely easy to work with as far as slight mods to help it fit better.
Honestly, for the price... I really don't think you can go wrong. It was a cheaper upgrade than the brass bridge pins I put in, and I think it had a bigger impact on the tone of the instrument.
