I just recently got this as a Christmas present and I have to admit it's a handy little tool. It makes removing and replacing strings a lot easier. And also, the built in string cutter is pretty cool to, it's just a little difficult to figure out at first, but after you get it the first time it's smooth sailing from there. Overall, good tool for 8 bucks

If the product received was the same as the one shown in the photograph, it would have been an excellent tool. What you truly receive is a cheap plastic (not resin impregnated) handle with scallops in the side of it which weaken it even more. Notice the one in the picture has no scallops. Instead of the cutter being made of fine tool steel, as it appears in the photograph, it is constructed of stamped sheet metal with a high chromium content. This means the tool will wear out rather quickly. In conclusion, this tool would only be good for a couple of years at best before it would have to be replaced. Planet Waves claims it has a lifetime warranty, but I'm sure they don't honor that warranty. If they did, they'd lose too much money. This device was never designed to last a lifetime. This will become immediately apparent when you take it out of the box. Overall, a huge let down. I would have paid twice the price if it had been constructed as shown in the photograph.

As a winder, it's fine. As a string cutter, the shears are too stubby to get a nice cut, and it leaves too much of the cut string sticking out from the peg. I like a clean finish once I've strung up my guitar, and I always have to go back with a wire cutter to finish the job. Not worth the money.

very good idea having three tools in one. It pulls pegs for acoustic guitars, it has a tuner spinner with two different sizes and a wire cutter for cutting off excess string length. Great for gig bags and cases.

Prior to getting one of these, I would just borrow a winder and use a nail-clipper or anything that I had nearby to cut the extra string. This of course lead to big dents in blades and even broken scissors...lol.
Now I have it...it works like a champ...and I don't leave home without it.
