These hangers work well over all. Purchased a 5 pack plus one single hanger to place all my guitars/bass on the walls to conserve floor space. These black hangers look good and have ample padding for the neck when they are suspended. They are also far enough away from the wall to where I do not have any issues with any of my guitars banging/touching the wall, including a full sized acoustic, as long as I am careful when placing them on the hangers. The only issue I have had is that 2 of the 6 hangers will not tighten completely against the wall. There is a slight wobble to them. I did not want to take any chances with failures and my guitars, so I got toggle bolts of the same screw diameter as those that the hangers came with. Most of them snugged up to the wall extremely sturdy and with 100+ pound metal toggles in the wall, I know my guitars are definitely safe!

To be specific about the problem, one of the screws (the top I believe) will not fully tighten on two of them. I thought maybe I had a bad toggle bolt so I switched them out twice on each one and got the same result. I don't understand how this is happening because the screw will turn freely in the slot that passes through the hanger. I would think that this means the toggle bolt should eventually force the hanger to tighten up, but it never does. There is just enough wiggle room for the 2 hangers to rock back and forth slightly. which is annoying. I can't tell if there is some kind of slight deformity in the hanger that is causing this, or maybe something is going on in my wall in those two places that is preventing the toggle bolt from biting into the wall while tightening? It's still a mystery so I thought potential buyers might want to keep this mind when considering these. Otherwise the hangers are well made, look good, and seem very durable. It's great to not have to dodge guitars every time I'm tinkering in the music room!

Sturdy hanger

This hanger holds a guitar fairly secure. Best use if drilled into a 2x4 or thick drywall. I wouldn't hand a brand name guitar. Nonetheless, good hanger.

Good wall hangers

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger:

I'd buy more of these when I need them.
I have two different kinds of wall hangers and this one is way better then the other. More padding to cradle with. I've had one up for 3 years and it still hangs well with no sign of wear.
a bit more than others but for a reason.

Warning: included screws are too short

By olis_tx

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger:

The hanger works great and looks good, but the included screws are dangerous for your guitar. If you are screwing the hanger into a stud, the included screws are only long enough to go less than 1/4" into the stud. A heavy guitar could rip the hanger out of the wall. If you are screwing it right into the stud, longer screws are an absolute requirement. I think it is irresponsible for the manufacturer to not include screws that are at least 1/2" longer.

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger:

This was actually the first hanger I tried. I want back to the store and got two more and now I'm just going to order enough for all my guitars. They look nice and it just looks cool to have your guitars hanging on the wall. Like amusic store. And they are easy to grab instead of opening up a case.

I'd say this hanger is a good one and holds your guitar or bass firmly and safely. They feel secure and sturdy. I make sure to find a stud and screw them into wood.
It's pretty simple, but for what it is it works just fine. No gimmicks or new ideas that may or may not work. It simply does it's job and does it well.
I've taken them down to move and put them back up and no indication of any problems. The build quality is good. The three I have all look identical. Nothing to complain about here.
Fair price. No complaints.

Does what they are supposed to. I have 4 of them with two basses and two guitars...no problems with any. (guitar has dean V. headstock and rest are traditional.) no problems. I play in a smaller room with a drum set and have never knocked these off the wall. I used the screws directly into studs and don't know if the drywall fasteners are good or not.

I have 10 of these, one of them started coming loose out of the drywall when i hung up my Fender 6 string bass, even though i used the supplied anchors and followed the directions it still came loose. These aren't good for heavy instruments, but okay for average guitars

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger:

Sturdy, easy to mount. I have 5 guitars hanging on my wall with these. However, they come with plastic anchors in the package. DO NOT use these to mount in sheetrock! A heavy guitar like a Les Paul will eventually pull the anchors through the sheetrock. Just use some 2" wood screws and use a stud finder. The little foam 'rings' that go on the ends of the yoke are useless and usually pull off when you remove a guitar from the yoke. I just throw those away. Not needed anyway. Still, nice product and the wood finish looks classy on the wall.

Comments about FretRest by Proline GH1 Guitar Wall Hanger:

Not as secure as a Hercules hanger due to it not having the claw, but you can still feel confident that your guitar or bass is going to be secure. My one and only complaint about this hanger is, I didn't think the screws weren't long enough to make a secure enough connection with the wall. I wound up using longer screws to ensure they would have deep enough penetration into the studding to securely hold the hanger in place without stripping, or otherwise fall off the wall with the weight of my instrument on them. Other than that, the hanger is doing exactly what it was designed to do without any issues.

This a great display hanger, and gets the job done. It comes with two screws for the wall, as well as a set of plastic anchors for drywall mounting.

My only gripe was the wood base. It is real wood, but the finish is very smooth and almost feels like plastic. Nothing that a paint job couldn't change.

I recommend using a stud finder and using 2 1/2" or 3" drywall screws into the stud. I would not personally hang my guitars with drywall anchors. Usually studs are spaced at 16" which works out to be pretty much perfect for most guitars and if you have enough you can make your wall look like a music store.

These open up floor space. Keep your guitars safe and it's very usefull to have them all out and available instead of opening up cases to get to something. It's a must for a studio.

I use a tape measure to get even height and a level to get them nice and straight and it looks real pro. It might be my favorite part of my studio.

The only "cons" would be the foam seems to be degrading on some I bought @ 2007 and the black paint chipped on some when I took them down and moved, but I just threw them in a box, so that is my fault I guess.

What's not to like?! Installs in minutes with minimal tools. It says rated for 10 pounds, but it would certainly support much more with no problem.

I bought these for custom display cabinets I'm building, The default picture makes it look low profile, but the entire hook sticks out about 5 inches from the wall, for my application I wouldn't be able to shut the door.
