Glad that I ordered this. It's a good mic stand. A bit pricey, but it has the features I need.Have long wanted a desktop mic stand, but it has never been a priority. I write at my desk, and for years and years have just laid the mic on the desk to capture ideas. This mic stand has a small, heavy base to balance the 9" boom. The density of the base lets me extend the boom wherever I need it while saving the real estate on my desk for important stuff like post-its and erasers and ukulele chord dictionaries. The quality seems little low for such a high price. I'm no engineer, but the threads seem a little thin and brittle. I can see them breaking if not handled properly.

Well, it has a nice heavy base, and a boom. Nothing too fancy, but it works.
Here is where my only complaint is. The area where the threads for the mic clip attach to the boom arm is a bit of a problem. It comes loose for whatever reason with some stands, and allows the clip to rotate freely. This of course means that when you put a microphone in it, the torque exerted by the microphone makes it impossible to aim the mic where you want it. This can be fixed by hammering in their contact points a little more with a hammer and a metal pin, but it's a crippling issue if you don't have those tools handy.

perfect stand

Comments about Proline MS112 Desktop Boom Mic Stand:

I purchased 2 of these a few weeks ago. One to mic my bass drum the other to mic our bass players amp. The stands are perfect for both jobs. They adjust easily and are good and heavy to stay where you put them. Very satisfied

Comments about Proline MS112 Desktop Boom Mic Stand:

Well, these are decent stands from the experience I've had. I've owned four of them for probably 6 months to a year now. Two have had no problems and have served quite well, and two have an issue where the area that the screw for the mic clip attaches to the boom has come loose so it rotates freely, which is very annoying. If I had a welder, it would be a really easy fix, but I don't so I have to deal with it. They are a bit overpriced in my opinion, but there are few other versions of this product that have booth boom and non tripod base, so you're kinda stuck buying these if those are critical things for what you want.

As an aircraft machinist, I look at detail in everything I buy. This stand is top quality ! The machined threads fit tight and true in the base. This stand is well worth the price. I also like the range of adjustments that are offered on this stand. BUY IT !

Best short stand

By Steve Rozema

from North Carolina

Comments about Proline MS112 Desktop Boom Mic Stand:

I've tried numerous short/desk boom mic stands at our church. We are renting a building and currently only have it on Sundays, meaning that we have to set up and break down everything (stage design, lighting, sound system, signs, etc.) every week, so a lot of our equipment obviously gets a lot more wear than it would if I was using it in the studio, or in a permanent facility. This is the only desk boom that hasn't broken within three months. We own two of them - one for our kick drum mic, and one for our electric guitar amp - and they work great. Desk booms with a tripod base tend to be kind of flimsy and can take up too much space on a crowded stage; other desk booms with weighted bases often break at the base because of weak tubing and welding. These stands hold up to lots of wear, stay where you put them, and are cheap. Definitely worth it!

Comments about Proline MS112 Desktop Boom Mic Stand:

I bought this mic stand because I needed something compact enough to fit on a small stage, yet beefy enough to hold a Beta 52. Sure enough, this stand works like a charm. I've had it for a couple weeks and have used it for about eight different bands and I have had no problems. The design works great for bass drum mics, but it's extremely versatile and I've also used it on guitar cabs. Great product, 10/10 would use.

I SPECIFICALLY SAID 3 TIMES THAT I NEEDED A SMALLER THREAD SIZE TO FIT AN AKG KICK DRUM MIC HOLDER. THE SALEPERSON ASSURED ME THIS WOULD FIT AFTER DOING SOME "RESEARCH" IT DOES NOT, ITS THE STANDARD SIZE. HOW MUCH CLEARER COULD I BE WHEN I TOLD HIM THE THREADS WERE VERY SMALL? AS FAR AS THIS REVIEW, I FILLED IN EVERYTHING BUT APPARENTLY ITS NOT COMPLETE WHAT DO YOU WANT?

it's impossible to keep a mic in a stable position. put a mic in, screw the lever, and watch the boom slowly lower until your mic is touching ground. not worth returning either, since it's so heavy i'm sure the postage would be expensive. seriously, i'd give it no stars if i could.

Comments about Proline MS112 Desktop Boom Mic Stand:

I was recording a band and needed some stands fast. So I ran down and picked up a few of ProLine stands. I'm usually pretty picky about my mic stands but these got the job done fine. The base is quite heavy but quite small so it's easily placed around a crowded drum kit. It works absolutely perfectly for under a snare drum because of it's small base and short design. It is just short of being usable for a mic on the snare batter, a fault that I can live with given its many other applications. Overall a very good, sturdy stand. If you have the money, I would check out DR Pro or K&M also.

The base on this stand is HEAVY! Believe it. I use it to hold my KBM 412 with the boom fully extended, as far in to the kick as I need. Am planning to get a couple more to mic the guitar amps. Nice and inconspicuous. It gets the job done and can't beat the price.

Comments about Proline MS112 Desktop Boom Mic Stand:

I had recently started up a radio show and wanted to use my studio mic instead of one of those USB podcast mics. I could have purchased one of those articulated stands that clamp to the desk, but I wanted something that could do more than desktop. I ordered the Proline MS112 and as usual, it was here in a day or two. The first thing that hits you is the weighted base. Man, that base is nice and beefy. Since all of my stands are Proline, the other parts are very familiar.

Connected my MXL 990 into the shock mount. Screwed that on the Proline MS112. Just for the heck of it, I extended the boom out and the base held really nice. After playing around, I set up for a radio show. Got a nice upside down setting and was able to mount a popper stopper and the included mic cord clip. As far as setting up for live or recording, was able to easily configure the stand and get the mic right on the corner of the 15 in my GK amp. Folds up nicely and the build is hefty; durable.

I use these for kick drums, percussion, guitar amps, etc. This model has a substantial base on it (which I like) and the rest is good quality. My only desire is for a counter balance weight on the end when using with bigger mics (i.e. Beta 52, D12, e902, MD421, etc.).
