I'm an engineer familiar with the road from the back line for Elton John to smaller groups playing the bar circuits and intermediate pro groups playing tours.

These are not ATLAS stands, but imho good enough for most road and static use. The big difference between these and the Atlas stuff is the gauge of steel used in the upright post. These posts are literally 1/2 the thickness.

Great for all but the most demanding road trips. If abused you may find the upright may shear off where it meets the base. In that case we simply whip out the pipe threader and twist some new threads and viola.. rock and roll baby.

When you buy 10-20 at a time, the difference between high end cost and these is significant. You be the judge.

For 90% of bands and tours out there these work fine.

Don't forget to put a good quality boom on top of them. Bases are one thing, but booms are more important in the overall ease of use and longevity of the mic stand.

    Do Not Buy These Stands

    By David Ross

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

I bought six of these stands because of the low price. Like a previous reviewer said, all the parts are solid and except for the pressure fitting they use to attach the threaded head to the shaft. This eventually makes the mic clips spin freely in the neck of the stand without any ability to tighten them. So far, four of my stands within six months have been rendered useless because of this flaw. Spend a few extra dollars and get something else.

I wanted to warn everyone about this product before I said goodbye to musicians friend. Basically this arrived, I screwed it in carefully, but it stripped. Would love to return but since I broke it, no returns on an already defunct product. The darn thing didnt keep for the hour I recieved it. Anyway, if you want a quality product, this is not what your looking for...

Right out of the box would not tighten. Long story short it was stripped. I've been a musician for years and will spend the extra money next time. Just happened to be ordering other stuff & wanted something other than my boom stand when not playing guitar.

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

I needed a couple more of these stands for my music venue. They get used and abused by bands and karaoke singers, btu they have held up well. They feel solid, the sit on the ground well, and have decent cushioning under them. I am very happy with the 2 stands I purchased.

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

Well made and a spacesaver on stage or in my small studio.I have always liked the round base rather than the tri-pod stands for these reasons.I will probably get a couple more soon. The only flaw in this stand is the tightener slips or skips if tightened beyond a certain point instead of stopping. The old stands did not slip and I hope in time the stand will start sliding down on it's own.Time will tell. That being said it is still good for the price paid.

Comments about Proline MS235 Round Base Microphone Stand:

I use 5 microphones in our 4 pc. progressive acoustic band. I prefer this style of base as opposed to the tripod leg style due to the often need for stage space. It also helps to avoid tripping. ProLine is a good go to brand that I have used for many years. For this style of microphone stand, there is no need to pay more.

As a vertical standalone mic stand, it gets the job done. When you add a boom, you have to be more careful or you can tip it because of the small base footprint. I have another stand with tripod base that I like much better for the boom. Still, all in all, it's well made and works well. No complaints, just nitpicking!

It's a good mic stand. ignore that other review which says you can't adjust it because it does go up and down. good price and will last a while. i have had the top broken off before on one however the mic clip was being taken on and off alot so leave the clip on and you will be fine.

Almost worth it, but not quite.

If you have a large nicopress to fix these stands with, they are worth the money! If you don't, you will wind up with a heavy steel piece of cheap disappointment.
It does exactly what you'd expect an inexpensive mic stand to do. It has a twist-clamp so it can go up and down..
I set up and break down a 7-piece rock/reggae/folk band every weekend of the year. 5 months ago we bought 9 of these stands. All the parts are solid and good except for the pressure fitting they use to attach the threaded head to the shaft. I am not exaggerating when I tell you every pressure fitting has failed, most of them the first time we screwed down a mic clip on the head. The heads haven't come off, they just spin freely in the neck of the stand. For me, this isn't a big deal because I have a long-handled heavy-duty nicopress with which I can clamp the shaft tightly around the head again. But if you don't have such a tool, you do not want this stand!
These stands would be amazing product for money if not for the inadequate pressure fitting on the head. As they are, you pretty much get exactly what you pay for.
