These stands are excellent. They hold my Mackie Thump 12 perfectly, very securely, and allow for a myriad of leg base extension. Due to their weight, they are very stable, and this alllows for a variety of leg extension, from relatively narrow to completely wide. In some cases, its more dangerous to have wide leg bases where people might trip over, to compensate for a lightweight stand and center of gravity. I am much less concerned with these. Also, they use a locking pin which is added security from the locking screw. I am pleased with these stands, especially for the cost. I will purchase two extra carrying bags, as they will be much easier to carry individually, but can of course be carried as a pair in the sturdy bag in which they are sold.

My second review of this item, it seems my first review somehow did not get posted...hmmmm.

The reviews on these stands are in general, quite positive... that's why I bought this item, taking a chance that this maybe was just a good quality item at a budget price. Th reality I found was that the reviews are VERY misleading.

These are low quality stands at a low price and while they LOOK ok they are poorly designed. The reality is you get what you pay for and you simply can't buy a pair of real quality stands with a bag at this price point, it's just a fact. My advice is bite the bullet, spend 2-3x more and buy a good brand from Musicians Friend that will do what it's supposed to and not have you worrying if it's going to fall over or break on the 4'th gig.

The poles and legs are adequate, light gauge steel but the plastic clamp that holds the top of the legs is VERY weak, this is the problem. It is supposed to clamp around the main pole via a plastic knob & screw but when tightened as tight as she'd go I could slide the clamp up & down the pole with only moderate hand pressure!!

That's simply not acceptable folks! The leg clamp needs to bite and hold securely...period and it doesn't.
The other issue is tightening that knob so tight WILL most certainly break the flimsy clamp in short order. Once that happens the stands are trash.

I returned them the very next day to purchase a pair of Ultimate TS99BL + bag for more than 3X the cost but they were well worth it, solid as a rock with rugged aluminum clamps!

I will give top marks to MF, they issued full credit on the return without issue and sent a prepaid return label to boot, thank you Musicians Friend.

Comments about Proline PLSP1 Speaker Stand Set with Bag:

I have been using these on a regular basis for several months. I use them to hold 15" powered speakers. Including a set of speakers that weigh 50 lbs each. They are sturdy, and the speakers are steady and feel very secure. The tightening knobs are plastic, but they are heavy duty and I have had no issues so far. When the pair are in the carry bag, they aren't the lightest thing to carry, but they are no where close to the heaviest item in my stage setup, and not anything that bothers me. I think it's a good mix between portability and durability. A very good value.

Comments about Proline PLSP1 Speaker Stand Set with Bag:

We use these in our band where we setup and take down every week. They are sturdy, stable and work great. The carry bag has held up well, still looks new. I just recently bought another set of these for a club so they wouldn't have to borrow / rent gear for their monthly events. Great product!

Comments about Proline PLSP1 Speaker Stand Set with Bag:

While these stands are indeed very stout, I'm docking three stars because nowhere could I find the weight of these things listed, neither at MF or at the ProLine website. It's all well and good to say one stand is lighter than another, but without specific information being provided, it is very difficult for a buyer to make an informed choice.
I'm sure that the ups guy was cussing me this morning. I went out to bring the box in off of the porch and almost dropped it, it was so unwieldy. The two of these in their bag weigh as much as a powered speaker. I cannot see the bag itself holding up over time with these monsters inside.
Several years ago I owned a pair of On-Stage stands that held my Mackie 350's. I couldn't remember if they were aluminum or steel, but they were light as a feather compared to these and still were plenty sturdy.
I would not buy these again. They are unnecessarily heavy and I will be cussing every time I load in or out.

Tested these stands out with 12" PA speakers. No problems, no wobbles. Also, normally free bags that come with this sort of stuff are garbage, and I just don't bother using any kind of carrying case. These are actually substantial.
