OVERVIEW

A great deal on hickory sticks.

These hickory sticks play just like premium sticks, but due to slight cosmetic blemishes, we can offer them for a lower price. These blemishes can include wood grain inconsistencies and other cosmetic irregularities. They are weighted evenly for balance and are finished with a thin coat of lacquer to give you a smooth feel.

I bought the 5A size in the wood tip and also the plastic tip and both are decent quality, I like the weight and the feel of these sticks in the 5A size, the 5B size were too heavy and too thick for me but might be right for you if you play metal or hard rock all night. There were however a few duds in the bunch, a few were warped slightly, one was warped badly and one stick had serious grain flaws and pits in the wood that it looked like a termite was snacking on it. I liked that the neck of these sticks are thick enough to take some punishment. I've had problems with a few brands of 5A sticks that get too narrow just below the top or the tip of the stick. When these are on sale they are a great deal and time to stock up, at regular price still not bad but perhaps a little overpriced. Just keep in mind they are seconds but most of the sticks will most likely be straight and have no noticeable problems. I will definitely buy these again.

These sticks were offered at a very good price and I didn't have the highest of expectations. I expected perhaps a few rough spots and some cosmetic blemishes. Of the 12 sticks (6 pairs), 4 sticks were very high quality, 5 had minor issues (a little sandpaper works wonders) and 3 of the sticks were totally useless. One had an obvious split near the butt, one had a deep gouge and roughness in the handling area and the other was serious warped. I would call these sticks "factory rejects". There appears to be no quality assurance involved. I did complain by email to MF and to their credit (as usual) they made things right by immediately sending me two pairs of quality sticks of the same size.

These sticks are great for the money. If you want to spend 90$ on vic firth novas go ahead! I love these they are tougher than vic firth. with vic firth they break in about a week and i dont play hard! but i have had these for about 2 months and havent broken one or chipped or even barely scratched the wood whereas vic firth breaks easily!

I have been using these sticks for YEARS. They are Vater seconds, but they are still very good sticks. I use the Rock model. I had been using the nylon tip, but the last few packs I recieved the tips flew off or cracked off. I switch to the wood tips and I am still very pleased with the quality.Price does matter and I just can't see how somwone would spend much more on a pair of sticks when you can have these!! I am a Hard Rock drummer, I play hard and loud and these Hold up as good as anything out there.

Comments about Pulse Drumsticks 6-Pair Pack:

These are well weighted sticks i hardly break the 5b at one point i was busting through a stick a week. These seem to last a good while durable and comfortable to play drums with. I've been playing with pulse for six years 7a and 5b.

          Vater 5A Seconds Indeed!

Comments about Pulse Drumsticks 6-Pair Pack:

The pack of twelve Vater seconds drumsticks called Pulse are a great value. The first pair has lasted as long as any company's sticks. They feel great because the Vater 5A is my second favorite stick. Now I can afford to use wood-tipped sticks again.
I LOVE these sticks. I was planning to wait for a while before posting an opinion, but I could not wait I play twice a week at church, and I am still using the first pair three weeks later. So that pair has lasted as long as any other wood-tipped stick I have ever used. The other musicians I play with like the weird grain patterns. I have played drumset for over forty years, and I think these sticks are a great deal.

Comments about Pulse Drumsticks 6-Pair Pack:

I got some of the 7A's. I agree with what the reviewer (Chuckwagon) said below. These are identical in every way to the Vater Manhatten 7A's (which I also own). These are Vater "seconds" for sure. If I closed my eyes, I couldn't tell if I was playing the Vater or the Pulse. Also, of the 12 total sticks I received, 10 were straight as an arrow and the other 2 were just slightly warped, but still very playable. There were some knots and irregular wood grain patterns, but those are purely cosmetic. No affect on feel or sound. These are nice Vater sticks "in disguise" and you won't be disappointed!

Comments about Pulse Drumsticks 6-Pair Pack:

Great drumsticks, they are strong, i play hard and they dont crack or break. HOWEVER, i got nylon tips and the tips for every pair of sticks literally came off or cracked the first time i used them. DONT BUY THE NYLON tips, otherwise these are great sticks with a great value

Comments about Pulse Drumsticks 6-Pair Pack:

I chose to purchase these sticks as a way to save because the last few pairs of vic firths broke too easily. I was extremely satisfied the first week of usage. The balance of the stick is a little heavier toward the tip than vic firths, but that was easy to get used to.

The second week of usage, I noticed one of the wood tips had chipped. I didn't think much of it until it occurred again, and again...and again! I purchased the sticks two months ago and five tips have chipped, but not one stick has broken or cracked. So, weigh out your options: save money or play with chipped sticks.

These sticks are the only one's I'll touch. Their just as good, If not better, than any of the BIG names in sticks. I use 5A's and their VERY sturdy. I got a pack of these in July, I've just finished them off (due to breakage and my own lack of keeping up with them.)

Comments about Pulse Drumsticks 6-Pair Pack:

The sticks are of good quality and have a nice feel to them. The only downside is that the picture on line shows them as nylon tipped sticks. I like the sound and response of the nylon, but these are wooden tips. They sound fine on the acoustic drums, however the ride cymbal sound I get from wooden tips is not to my liking. Still, they are fine for practicing and use on my electronic drums.

Comments about Pulse Drumsticks 6-Pair Pack:

For years, I spent so much money on Vic Firth sticks that I felt were too brittle to hang on to for any length of time. It seemed as though every other drum session, a chunk of one of the sticks would be plunged at my face in the middle of a drum fill. These sticks are a great improvement, and way cheaper! You'd get more bang for your buck, even if the prices matched. But they're a must buy if you're looking for something better than the rest.

I've like many drummers have experimented with many types of drums stick brands, sizes, and materials such as wood (maple, hickory, oak) and plastics. These sticks feel great and are the perfect length to move around with on the drums. They can take a beating and wont break like other cheap sticks. But don't take my word for it until you try them out for yourself. No regrets!
